What class for raid leading

Hi Guys !

Im holy paladin main and currently leading my raid as hpala too , but there is a opportunity to swap int ranged role . I would like to hear your oppinion what ranged spec i should pick for raid leading.

What’s importent to me is not to difficult mechanics preffer an easy spec.
-I want to check the whole raid under my control like as healer. For example i know where my raid members stand and whats mechanic facing them .

Basicly my main goal is:
While i play and making my job maximum as leader and as dps player . Tracking mechanics, cds, ppls while i doing my best as dps too.

Thanks for your help.
Sorry for my poor english .

I’d go affli warlock.
Most of the spell are instant cast and dots keep damage up even if you’re not casting to check something else.

Beast Mastery hunter typically makes it easy to keep track of everything while performing decently. Mobility and rather simple rotation help with that.

Easiest whould be to raid lead as a tank considering it allows for more “interuptions” over healing and dpsing. In our guild we don’t have a set raidleader, we instead have one healer, one tank and one dps helping eachother out. Since well to be fair, tanks know alot more about the tanking bits and healers do always have their own mechanics to deal with. The DPS leader however handles target switching etc.

Mage is pretty good for raid leading. It has decent mobility, easy rotation and awesome defensives.

Thanks for ur advices

Demon hunter is an easy pick. You have 2 bottons to manage, so just spam “1” & “2” while raidleading & u will preform very well

No guys, you got no clue what you are talking about.

Tank can’t see sh** on some bosses. Definitely not a good position for raid leading. I know you can see on logs/replay but still, not optimal.

Same goes for melee. They don’t see what ranged does most of times. Tho, not as bad as tanks got.

The only answer is RDPS. With easiest rotation possible. That would be either (in that order):

  • Hunter BM - I am raid leadin as BM hunter and have time to make myself a tea, watch who screwed up and still do decent dps.
  • Destro Warlock - Easy, durable and does pretty decent dps (dont forget having warlocks is mandatory nowadays)
  • Mage - Probably all specs can go decent
  • Bala Druid
  • Ele shaman - Ez rotation
  • All other RDPS classes
  • Disci priest
  • All other ranged healers

And thats about it.

I mostly agree with this, except Disc priest is defo below other ranged healers, considering it’s a proactive healer, rather than reactive. So trying to keep track of what is currently happening and then thinking into the future for your ramp while keeping on top of all the mechanics is not really an easy thing to do.

If I were to believe my friend, it’s arcane mage. Probably the easiest rotation I’ve ever heard of before, and they end up doing good dps.

Haven’t you just described raid leading, though?
