What do " casual " players do?

I keep hearing more and more players complain that they find M+ boring/irrelevant/too hard while also not enjoying raiding.

But if you don’t do M+ and raid, what else is there to do in this game?

I know PvP exists but I feel like it’s an even bigger niche than PvE content like M+ and raiding so surely that’s not where the bulk of the players are.

Are people on the forum coping by saying that M+ and raid only attracts the top .1% of players in the game? Do the vast majority of players really enjoy doing the other form of " content " there is to do besides that like mount farming, levelling, regular quests ect which all boils down to go to X, one shot Y and pray to jesus whatever cosmetic/mount/collectible drops?

I just cannot fathom finding any other form of content ( at least for a long term purpose ) to be enjoyable. WoW " casual " content is just unbelievably bland and outdated when compared to more modern MMOs.

Hi, your achievement points, 11145, improve it. It is a very fun activity. Try to play what the game offers you. And it is top MMO gaming content.

People find different things fun.

I heard someones kid amused themselves for hours years ago in Org by taking the lift up and then jumping off the cliff, res, rinse repeat.

In short, do what you find fun. If that turns out to be nothing, then unsub.

i play a couple months per year and i am the most casual you can find. i am so casual i did not even buy dragonflight, because i know i won’t have the time to stay afloat: gone are the days of hard raiding. i had plenty of time during wotlk, and some during second half of bfa and shadowlands… nowadays i am too busy, so i focus on:

  • pet battles/breeds
  • mounts collection
  • completing old raids for experiencing expansions i never played
  • leveling classes i never liked to see if i find that something (usually i do but with the wrong race, so off i go deleting everything and restarting from scratch… hardcore who?)
  • collecting transmog so i always have the right clothes for my characters
  • planning to quests only if those zones make sense for my class (i told you i don’t need fancy addons to give myself some challenges)
  • take advantage of random bonus to reputation/xp to get me some random exalted rewards (i just finished leveling argent dawn and crusade on my paladin, thanks diablo 4)
  • organizing my characters bank to make sure each has its own set of things and i don’t have to go crazy finding it next time
  • collecting old recipes for my professions
  • engaging in occasional alterac valley event to get me some pets/mounts
  • participating in festivities without making it a grind (so i’ll have something to do the year after)
  • in general, completing pve storylines where i see fit and hoarding pretty things

it’s not much, but it’s honest gameplay (cit)

Ive been having a pretty good time doing the time rift event the last 2 days (when it decides to work)

Level alts, collect transmog, collect mounts, discover the story, level professions (mostly for collectibles), grind reps for collectibles, do timewalking, run queued dungeons and LFR.

I don’t enjoy M+ because I played enough Diablo 3 to know that the “difficulty slider” carrot on a stick game is not something I enjoy. Grinding the same dungeons over and over is just not fun. I only do dungeons occasionally anyway.

My problem with raids is how it’s designed to take a lot of time every week. Doing LFR once or twice for the story is enough for me.

I barely have time to complete the story, I’m actually trying to do all the quests in DF but it will still take a while. That, reps, the occasional lfr to see the story inside there and levelling alts every now and then. That’s it, my time is over by the time I’ve done all these things, couldn’t fit more even if I wanted to.

To me m+ in this particular moment of my life is a total waste of time (unless it’s with friends whom I can talk to and have some fun with, but they aren’t playing wow this year).

Right now, i m trying to do the garbage that is called Siege of Dragonbane Keep, alone in my 412 frost mage to finish the weekly.
It was a bad idea, for me to try it and for the weekly to demand it.

I used to love collecting, cosmetics, quests, achievements and completionism in general, but it feels like there’s little point nowadays. So much content has been removed over the years and the overall story and game has become such a bloated, confused jumble with holes everywhere. And it’s just an old game on a slow decline. Most people log on for raid nights or do M+ and guild/friend lists tend to empty out mid-late patch so there are less people to chat with.

It’s like buying a good single player game that’s been out a while and you want to get into it and 100% complete it …but you can only 47% complete it now and need to invest thousands of hours to do even that. Why bother?

Not saying “game sucks!” but it does change the goals. I just raid and M+ and log off nowadays too. That much is fun. There are more “rewards” than ever, but who cares about +1 rep or mount?

always causel complain about lack content most causel not even done 15 or clear it on hc wich sey alot pls stop complain about lack content do content frist before u complain

Leveling alts, old content transmog framing. I also think at some point I should start working on DF reps to finish the campaign.

Now that i will be off M+ and raid for the rest of the season as casual i’m going to do :

Farm old Reputation
Farm transmogs from LFR solo que, all dungeons and raids from the past.
Farm achievements
Max out all engineering from past expansions to get mogs etc
Farm mounts
Do the Loremaster
Play some casual random BG’s
Do a lot of Island Expedition cause they mogs there sells for good money

Yup, this sums it up perfectly. I do do this all of this as well. That and random heroic dungeons, because there is no real pressure doing them, because they are considered easy content, which is fine by me.

There is tons to do
First of all, play it as a game, not as a second job
So do anything, anything you want
RP, collect mounts, achivements, transmogs, leveling classes, pet battles, if you are a hunter, pet hunting, - I for one decided this one will be a master chef, so hunted down and learned all of the cooking recipes of the game, only one missing, the Goldthorn Tea because the NPC was removed from Razorfen Downs - do side quest - there are plenty that almost two decade was quite long
Read the quest is what about, not just mindlesly click click click to kill that 10 pigs… but know why you do that
Slow down, enjoy the game, have fun, relax

World content, mainly.

And please don’t use the term ‘casual’. It means many different things to many different people, so you’re always going to run into issues there.
Use ‘non big 3 players’ or ‘world content players’ or ‘solo players’. Those things more accurately describe what a players does/doesn’t do.

Nothing but mess about See the story, but it’s locked behind rep so not much really. Log in do a few activities and then log out. No body bothers with me ingame and I dont bother with anyone else.

If you fall behind in this game nobody wants to go near you. suits me lol.

That story being locked behind rep is the biggest pile of poo i have ever encountered in this game. The person who came up with that should get a job on that prison in cuba for terrorists TBH.
