So i just started playing classic because retail got a little boring and meaningless (not really fun when you can’t die, get all epic items for almost zero work, …) and I’ve been actually having a lot of fun on my new lvl 13 undead mage. However, classic endgame is still a bit of a mystery to me. So endgame is just weekly raids? What do you do between those weekly lockouts?
You either PVP, or you grind gold to pay for consumables for those raids.
Or you can level alts, or join a guild that does out-of-raid activities; such as the abyssal lords in Silithus. For the most part, it’s just working on your character.
There’s no RNG treadmill that basically forces you to log in every day and do the same thing over and over while hoping for better rewards.
There’s more or less nothing to do outside of raids unless you PvP or farm gold.
Farming, Level Twinks, PvP.
Some people are also raiding with their twinks.
Also you have more than one raid:
40-people raids: MC, Ony, Bwl, AQ40 (P5), Naxx (P6)
20-people raids: ZG, AQ20 (P5)
So at the moment you can do 3 40-people raids and one 20-people raid per week.
In P6 you can do 5 40-people raids and 2 20-people raids per week with every character.
explore the world, find easter eggs, gather cosmetics/fun items, pvp, trade, help ur friends with their tasks, twink, grind reputation, use ur crafting profession, use ur gathering profession etc. etc.
actually there is a lot to do, if u looking for more than just working on boring BIS lists.
On retail, at least I assume since this has been like this for years, you play the current tier content. All the gear and stuff from the newest raid surpasses everything from the previous tier. You progressively complete the dungeon gear -> then you get the raid tier 1 gear -> then next raid overrides the previous tier
In Classic this is not the case because Blizzard didnt really know what they were doing with itemisation. So you can be fully raid geared and still need stuff from level 50 dungeons. A lot of items from Molten Core are superior to their equivalents from BWL. There are blue items from ZG that are better than anything from raids. etc.
So you don’t just do one tier of “current” content. For 99% of active raid players, they will be going back to “older” content very regularly.
So what you might think it is a “weekly raid”, it’s actually doing 5+ raids a week.
But no, you aren’t required to log in and do tedious daily quests, in order to complete group PVE content. If literally you enjoy nothing in the game other than raids then you can just raid log and not do anything else.
#[What do i do between raids?]
option1
create more characters to raid multiple times per week
“you might get tired of doing same thing over & over”
option2
you find another mmo to play! Since wow classic won’t fill your time.
“that other MMO might totally steal you from wow”
Why do you have to think of it? You’re lvl 13 for God’s sake…
ill probably hit 60 in a week. Summer and all that, so i play 14 hours a day
Level 60 in 4 days played, on your first character… sure buddy
It’ll be a month, not a week matey.
You do other things, are you really asking the forum what to do with your life?
If so, my wife would like a chef and a maid.
You up for that?
Well… Classic is more about making alts than end game.
This ofc if you are not into PvP where you’ll find yourself playing all day for rewards and then after farming gold for consumables and PvP related items.
Apart from this here is more about the journey rather than end game.
I don’t need to level anymore because i am already lvl60.
I also don’t really need to raid anymore because i got all the gear i want.
So what’s the point of getting 60 and all the gear? Im i done now with the game?
I don’t get the logic of “raiding to get better gear” only to do more raids?
It’s basically time to make use of that powerful char !
It’s still a role playing game.
I often end up role playing and dueling in front of the main cities for hours.
You get to know other players from the server and they get to know your char. I try to make this world feel more alive by doing a lot of player interactive stuff in the open world. I run around without any goal and see where it brings me, either i end up helping someone somewhere or fight against players from the other faction. Trying to life out the character fantasy.
Playing on a pve server seems pretty boring to be honest - the fun part for me are player to player interactions and drama
I am not here to play a single player game where i just want to have a smooth character progression…
A “healthy” leveling time for a newbie is 10-20 days /played. You can make it 5-6 if you follow the guides and do things “efficiently”, but it’s crippling your gaming experience.
(both IMO ofc)
Level alts
PvP, gank noobs, grind stuff, level alts, organize something with friends…
Classic is what you make it. Nobody forces you to do this and that in order to stay relevant.
