Don’t know exact details but I know there’s an engineering pet that does damage, that does more damage the higher your engineering skill is, so there’s a minor benefit there.
I think it’s something like mechanical dragon whelp.
It is easier to level, as you can learn them earlier, but they still go from orange to yellow at the same time, meaning you have more choices on what to make that still makes you level.
In case of engineering, difference is huge for twinks. Iirc only gnomes can use rocket helmet at lvl 19. Also engi summons’s level is calculated from your skill(divided by 5). So again gnomes have lvl 63 summon at the end. Plus it’s easier to level the profession with such boni, more orange time for recipies. Some materials require 300+ skill to gather.
So outside of that case for higher cap for engineers the rest just benefit from having a 15 point headstart?
Or are you talking about the gathering proffs having a higher cap eliminates some gathering failure?
How is it easier to level? The recipes do not stay orange for longer, right?
The first 15 points one needs from zero to get even with the guy having the racial is trivial items that are easily collected. So far I only see the racial being useful on cases where the higher cap offers a benefit.
There is only one racial gathering skill bonus, for herbs. And it is very easy to level with or without this bonus. I guess it does reduce the chance of failure and can prevent you from losing 1 or 2 spawns of black lotus in a lifetime)
In case of +15 Herbalism for tauren, you can pick Earthroot from the get go. You can also pick Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, and Icecap without “Failed” pops.
That’s about it. None of the other +15 on professions matters at all at 60lvl.
Just think of it like this: all recipes require 15 skill less to learn. So, you learn lvl 75 recipe at lvl 60(will be 75 with racial) so this first 15 levels are added to the orange range. It varies between recipes but is always pleasant.
Uhmmm, no, dude. Don’t confuse him. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but a +15 to a skill just means you start with 15 extra skill and you have a 15 extra cap. That’s all.
This +skill is completely irrelevant for crafting professions and is somewhat relevant for gathering professions, of which there is only one bonus in vanilla - herbalism for tauren.
You are definitely wrong in retail and as others wrote it works like it does in retail I am inclined that you are wrong in this instance, too (do you play gnome or why are you so sure?).
So this is how it works in retail and I expect it to work in classic (I only play horde at the moment and there are no crafting profession bonuses for horde races):
You have the same requirements, but your base and max levels from your progression are pushed:
So a 1-20 orange would be orange from 16-35 (notice you are never below 16), at the same time you would be able to learn recipes requiring rank 15, so you have the choice to level with more recipes (and therefore more efficient in terms of materials).
Same on the top end, while others might require a specific recipe to level to 300, you can get to 300 with recipes that only credit skillpoints up till 285 on a different character (and while you are missing 15 additional skillpoints up to 315 these do not matter in crafting professions as far as I know, but you would gain these as you do from 285 to 300 normally).
