I have always wondered about that. Has it been figured out what effect it has?
Gives you group leader
Doesn’t it explain itself when you hover over it? Something like you can lead the group and explain stuff. You know, something that never happens
Hm, was one of my assumptions. Do you think that might be all?
I mean, we probably can never know in case it’s something ominous in the grouping code. But it would be unwise if it triggered some selection process where you are grouped with newbies with a higher chance.
Just gives you group leader - if more than one person clicks it the system does a dice roll
That’s it - does not have any impact upon the queue
Did Blizzard mention that at some point?
Because they should. It’s kind of a user manual level info.
You have a manual?
I thought Brady Games stopped publishing those after Cata
These days of course increasingly via in-game tooltips, and those can be just as scarce as user manuals.
In this case it is violating a principle of good information because it is telling you to do something in a certain situation without telling you WHY you should do it. It is instructing, not explaining. (Common mistake, actually, and instructions without explanations, especially when you are a paying customer and not an employee, can lead to not being respected.)
But hey, I don’t expect better. … My profile here still shows my old guild membership from weeks ago instead of my new one. Kinda speaks for itself.
Why let it bother you - YouTube is the best source of info however
If you hover over it it says something like “You’re willing and experienced enough to lead the group”.
In Theory checking this should give you group leader as you would be responsible, and people would want you to explain tactics and routes.
Practically leveling rdf is just insane rush even tho blizzard made trash harder to beat.
