Well, in brackets because it isn´t “Teldrassil” anymore, it´s a zone that after all these years should be brimming with life unless some sort of magical issue prevents life from blooming.
It´s a rather large area, while it was mainly a tree before it should be an island by now with lots of nourishment for new life to grow, life of all sorts. I wonder if it´s in the works for the Nelfs to somehow reclaim that “island”.
But this could have been addressed before and I just missed it, anyone know anything about this area mentioned in the lore long after the burning?

The entire tree was destroyed…
Yes, but the “island” is still there, you can see it from afar. Even a volcano island formed by lava which is dead initially can blossom with life in a matter of decades, the same would happen on such a vast area, on top of the the “tree stump”.
Where’s Alexstrasza to breathe her life magic like she did in the DF cinematic? Holding trials for a new consort?
Tyrande said one day they would reclaim Teldrassil - for Nelves, even without immortality, that can be in hundreds of years. It will take time to regrow.

It wasn’t an island it was literally a tree that was planted in the ocean.

You kind of answered your own question…
It has not been “decades”, it has been, including the timeskip post Shadowlands, 9 years. A 9 year old tree generally won’t even grow fruit yet, much less support a treehouse without bending over to the ground, much less an entire capitol city.

They forgot about it, or are deliberately ignoring it, the Night elves got their capital… well, village with Bel’ameth, and anything that may have been implied by in-game text (Rebuilding Teldrassil, reclaiming territory lost/ruined by all the Horde invasions) is just worthless lip-service at this point, and it will remain no more than that until something changes in-game. (No, a paragraph in some quest text, a novel, or story online doesn’t cut it)
According to WoW lore and timeline, Nordrassil was the night elf’s world tree for over 10,000 years, since Illidian created the well of eternity in Hyjal (10,000 years ago) until battle for mount hyjal (year 21)
And Teldrassil lasted only 11 years, from Fandral planted it (year 22) until it was destroyed in 4th war (year 33)
So Nordrassil has been world tree for over 10,000 years, and Teldrassil was only for 11 years.
Now the original world tree Nordrassil is revived. I see no reason for Night Elves to go back the temporary fake world tree Teldrassil…
It makes more sense to build a new capital around the true world tree Nordrassil, than cleaning and rebuilding the fake one…

Might get something if Northern Kalimdor gets a revamp, like Quel’Thalas is getting in Midnight…?
It’s possible, probably after the world soul trilogy (Blizz will need something big to hook players in), which is four, maybe five years out.
Well I for one, need that 4 or 5 year break from Tyrande and Night Elf lore in general.
We could mine it for charcoal

Even as a Night elf player, i also need a break from what Blizz calls “Story focus”, except for Humans and Orcs, the baleful gaze of Blizzard means nothing but misery…
It’s for that reason i fear the worst for the Blood elves.

I would be as fearful, but Chris Metzen is back in charge of the narrative, and whenever he has wrote the Blood Elves, he’s done so with a clear understanding of what the race is about.
I can’t say the same about the previous team under Steve Danuseless and even Christie Golden who got it very wrong when she stated that the Blood Elves of Silvermoon were addicted to fel magic.
Everything the Night Elves went through was under the previous writing team.

Don’t pin too much hope on Metzen, a lot of people posted stuff like “Well, Metzen is here now!”, but let’s see what happens first before cheering, can he resist the siren’s call of a bit of “The empire strikes back”-effect in the second part of the trilogy? It’s called “Midnight”, that’s a rather foreboding hint TBH…
nothing happend just ppl cannot accept major change in their lore and they blame sylvanas as their scape goat for something lorewchangintg that should have happened years ago to shaKE UP THE LORE
Plot twist, it’s only called Midnight because it’s the 12th expansion.

I am glad Metzen is back but people seem to fail to realise he is a different man now. He’s grown and matured, has a family. He has said so in interviews and that his management style is different and he is letting people create what stories they believe in. He’s more or less creating the skeleton story. WoW is not going to revert to Classic story telling.
