Hello! With the burning of the Teldrassil not only that Night Elves lost heir home ,but also amount of CO2 released equals to hundreds of years of Azerotian activity. I am glad Metzen is back but people seem to fail to realise he is a different man now. He’s grown and matured, has a family. He has said so in interviews and that his management style is different and he is letting people create what stories they believe in. He’s more or less creating the skeleton story. WoW is not going to revert to Classic story telling.

I might be wrong, but wasn’t the Worldsoul trilogy Metzen’s baby before he left Blizzard?? Bit strange that he rejoined just as TWW was released

No, he left a roadmap up to and including shadowlands, DF was not “his baby” so to speak but purely Danuser´s work.

My understanding is that when he returned TWW was already too far along in pre-production to make the major changes he wanted to, but it was possible to expand the scope and make it a trilogy.

That is patently not true. The island and tree are both called Teldrassil.

Well, in brackets because it isn´t “Teldrassil” anymore, it´s a zone that after all these years should be brimming with life unless some sort of magical issue prevents life from blooming.

It´s a rather large area, while it was mainly a tree before it should be an island by now with lots of nourishment for new life to grow, life of all sorts. I wonder if it´s in the works for the Nelfs to somehow reclaim that “island”.

But this could have been addressed before and I just missed it, anyone know anything about this area mentioned in the lore long after the burning?

I have never heard of it before but I genuinely don’t know. Even if it was, he’s plainly stated that he is letting others have creative leads so what he may have imagined on his own is now being changed by the team to be their story not just his.

It’d be nice to see something done with the place eventually. Darnassus remains one of my favourite cities to this day…and the new replacement in the Dragon Isles lacks the same charm and aesthetic. There’s no stone buildings for one thing.

It wouldn´t be the same, as I wrote the original post I am thinking that the big tree is gone, there is a stump and a somewhat flat but rough surface on top of that stump. Remaining wood on the surface would slowly decompose as it rots forming a layer of earth, the charcoal of which there is plenty is there to stay unless manually removed. So, it would be up to birds primarily to kickstart flora/fauna.

It´s a bit like a newly formed island with a different foundation, what that foundation exactly consists of I don´t know, but lots of it is the old tree beneath the water surface surrounded by rocks/sand.

It should actually already be blooming with life, not of the sentient kind though.
