What hunter pet to choose for leveling (lvl 55)

Im lvl 55 Beast master

So, what hunter pet should i go for? right now i have a tanker pet (turtle, because of shell shield).

Would i be better off with a dps pet, for example a cat ?

Wolf is the best for damage

I remember in Vanilla the best for damage was a rare cat in The Barrens, for WoTLK i don’t know whats the exact pet for damage but i guess any cat/wolf will do, those have the best damage overall anyway.

Moving into WotLK you definitely want a wolf and a ravager and then whichever pet you like the look of. If you PvP you should look at spiders and crabs because of the CC.

Ravagers are very sturdy and deal good damage and Wolves give great buffs to your party.

Lots of information on Petopia as well if you haven’t checked it yet.

omg i totally forgot about the hunters website

I use a cat but use the one with the highest points until you get a raverger.

Just get a Devilsaur and stop pussying about.

Look great, but BM isn’t the spec it was in Classic and TBC so you have to make a choice over the rule of cool vs efficiency.

What spec would you suggest for solo leveling if not BM ?

I leveled in the pre-patch as Survival and it was good fun. BM is still ok to level with but isn’t viable at the cap for PvE really.

BM is still by far the best levelling/solo spec, it’s also fine in raiding it’s just worse than the other 2 specs. Devilsaur is also arguably the best pet, just needs more gear to surpass a Wolf, but honestly why would you care about raid min-maxing when you’re levelling?

Just get a big asss Devilsaur and stop being a bore.

Pick what YOU think is cool, that is the number one rule, kittys are the best though :cat2:

Imagine how poor mr turtle will feel getting stuck in the pet zoo and forgotton about because wolfs are the min/max

Oh and If your pet doesnt have a name you should get poor mr turtle taken of you and giving to a nice hunter, who will feed it those giant pet biscuits

As BM Devilsaur is a true beast.

As MM Wolf for minmax.

Personally I will level with a tenacity pet for tank/cleave/aoe.

And also: get a pet you enjoy, the RP aspect of a hunter overturns minimal dps increase imo.

I had a worgan pet for a few weeks at one point he was one of my all time favorite pets

Blizz took them of us though (quest bug)

Not sure what expansion that was - just before they came out as a playable race.

Devilsaur it is, just need a few more lvls…

thank you for the help everyone

Scorpids are good, their poison along with your stings adds 2 dots.

I play BM for leveling and my Ferocity pet can’t hold aggro with Growl anymore if I use anything else besides Serpent Sting, which is kinda boring way to play the game, thus I’ve decided to tame Turtle for it’s damage reduction ability and Guard Dog from Tenacity talents but I can’t decide on which talents to choose for the pet’s survivability.

Wowhead have recommendations only for BM Ferocity pet in raid environment, but nothing for Tenacity in leveling process and I couldn’t find much info besides the basic explanation of each pet family on Petopia.

Would it be better to stack armor over stamina from pet talents in order to be able to tank elite quest mobs?
Is there some recommended Tenacity pet talent build for solo play while leveling up?

I like pigs my self.

I tend to go for the black armored ones in RFK (or is it RFD? i cant remember)
