What if we get fresh classic ~every year

I know it sounds crazy, but let’s clear it up

We are going to get fresh vanilla soon, then it comes to TBC. Definitely, we’ll see Wrath of the Lich King too. We all are fans of different expansions, but we all are just running between all these projects Blizzard starts like Season of Discovery, Hardcore, and so on.

I propose when we will be on the verge of TBC, give people a choice to keep their characters on Permanent Vanilla Realms or move to TBC. At the same moment we see the start of fresh Vanilla which follows in the exactly the same footsteps.

When we are about to get Wrath of the Lich King, people are given the same choice to move to Wrath, or to keep their characters on TBC Realms. At this time fresh Vanilla starts once again. It’s a kind of a cycle.

And so forth…

What are players going to extract from it eventually?

  • Fresh servers of every classic expansion every year.
  • Opportunity to play or return to the favourite expansion at any moment.
  • Always a chance to start over
  • Keeping every expansion fit and fresh at the same moment with new progressive realms to jump in

What does Blizzard get?

  • Monetize transition between expansion with the service of both keeping character on old realm and bringing it to the new (Charcter Clone Service)
  • Expanded playerbase
  • Attracting players from private servers who play old expansions are not available by Blizzard at the specific moment.

Minuses?

The major con here is player base are going to be even more split, so, maybe, it is not worth doing further than WOTLK.

Anyway, I think this would fulfill all the needs of Classic WoW players.

I like your idea with Era servers for all three - I hope you mean for them to be permanent and not wipe after three years. But 1 year cycles - you lost me there. If you made this 2 years for each, then I’m in, but resetting every three yars? No way, Jose.

Not relevant, what matters is that players have free choice of what version to play.
This includes regular refresh every 1-2 years depending on classic version, or we need content that offers more than raid logging similar to SoD. Patches instead expansions (classic+).

I’m not interested in fresh servers. All I want is dedicated TBC server. Doesn’t have to be particularly fresh, but must be eternal.

Era is king.

Death to the endless “fresh” cycle and loss of progression.

This being said, nothing against people who wanna play fresh, of course.

ofc this fresh 1 year progression is just a test to see if people will be interested in the way pservers have done it for years. personally i prefer if phasing was extended and bwl/mc were the longest patches but w/e

I mean, people are going to have permanent realm for every classic expansion, including TBC. But they also are going to have fresh TBC every year then

Then you will be able to keep your character within one expansion

the only reason i am going to play fresh is that the old one classic server gonna die with the release, so there is no reason to start from the begining on Firemaw, for instance.

Noboody want a fresh every year i think😅
But a choice between expansions would be great☺️

It survived SOD big time, it aint going to die. There so many reasons it will not die.

Maybe not every year but every second year would sound good to me. When a server ages and the playerbase consists of mostly bored raid loggers it’s time for a fresh start.

It is just a concept, I think the best would be for instance year and 4 months so that it could not interfere with each other

There a lot of variations how they can realse it, anway I want to have both progress and everlasting realms of each classic expansion
