What is Classic+?

The Introduction

What is ClassicPlus?

One of the toughest questions, since this word will result in the individual Classic community member, reasoning over his/her subjective opinion, to what the asnwer is.

Even Blizzard themselfs, has stated that they don’t know the answer.

Who does know the answer to this problem? And can this equation, that is ClassicPlus even be solved?
Is it possible to gather enough common denominators to merge seperate opinions into one game?

.
.

My name is Mikkel.
To give a short backstory, i am currently 27 years old. I study Computer Science and are one of many WoW Classic enjoyers.
I pay my bills, support my hobbies, and spend time with my family and girlfriend. Nothing out of the ordinary, i might be just like you.

I rarely post on forums, however this subject holds me near.

.

I did not play classic way back when. My mom would’nt let me pay every month for a game. The whole subscription model were not common at the time.

So if not driven by the nostalgia, why do i play Classic, and prefer that over the current iteration (retail wow)?

I quote…

When the game does not require much of you, other than playing it, you get the surplus to start enjoying every moment.

.
.

Thoughts, ideas, possible solutions:

When it comes to ClassicPlus, i would like to present, what i think most Classic Community members think is, a good iteration of such version of the game.
If at any point you feel like i relate to your opinion on this version of the game, i would strongly recommend leaving a like, and posting a comment of your own Pros & Cons.

.
Throughout vanilla, many ideas were scrapped. That would only make sense for a newly developed game.

What i think the majority wants, is still the Classic feeling, but with a breath of fresh air. Like an old room getting the walls painted. The room stays the same, but the sensation of it feels completetly new.

The RuneScape Example

Before i start listing possible features for a new iteration of Classic WoW, i would like to present, what i think is a good example of keeping the core elements in check.

For those who don’t know, RuneScape is a game older than most new parents today.

To describe what they do, in short terms, they created an old version of their game called OldSchool RuneScape. (OSRS for short)

OSRS is a base model of the old operational game. The old game philosophy stays the same, which they iterate on, and have done so successfully.

OSRS have managed to retain hundreds of thousands of players over the years, and are to this day, in my humble opinion, the BEST game at retaining player numbers and even gathering new players.

With a game Like World of Warcraft which has a !Massive! playerbase, this should somewhat be achieveable aswell i believe.

The List

  • Starting Zones
New starting zones for Dwarf and troll. This includes:
  1. IronForge Airfield, a vanilla secret location.
  2. Senjin village, for trolls.
  3. Maybe Gnomergan, as it was intended also as a vanilla Starting Location for Gnomes?

Only the imagination is the limit here really.
.
.

  • Locations
So being the lazy computer science student that i am, i wanna re-use a well written description of some secret places and assets that were in the original game. All this content is just out there. It is ready for use.

  • Info:
The Ring of Valor is a massive gladiatorial arena located in the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar. Arena
was supposed to serve the same purpose as the Gurubashi Arena, except there would be no treasure in

eye candy for the long flights that pass through this area.

capital of Ironforge. It has two landing strips, and several gnome pilots are there standing next
to their planes or tinkering with them. Around the airfield there are a series of dwarven buildings
and structures. Mountaineers from Ironforge patrol the area, and some members of the Stormpike Guard
can be found here too. North of the airfield there is a gryphon roost, but it is inactive and does
not offer a flight path. Further north, near Wetlands, there is a crashed gnome plane along with
    some bones.

Wetlands Farm

  • Info:
The Wetlands farm is in southwestern Wetlands roughly south of Menethil Harbor usually reachable by
falling down the mountainside from near the Ironforge Airport. This is a series of small farmland
plots around a pond at the base of a tall waterfall. The area itself is on a plateau above normal Wetlands
areas. You can tell this area is not finished because the hills and valleys east of this area have
strange unfinished looking textures. There is also a signpost with three directions: “This way”,
“The other way” and “That way.” If you follow the road you’ll get to a tunnel which leads to nowhere.

Well of the Forgotten
(Aka. Karazhan Crypt or Lower Karazhan)
-Coords:
0 -11084 -1801 53

  • Info:
This crypt lies behind the tower of Karazhan in Deadwind Pass, in the cemetery at Morgan’s Plot. It
is stretching deep underground in a labyrinthine series of rooms. In my oppinion this is the most
horrific places in the whole WoW. Easily the most horrific chamber is the “Upside Down Sinners”
-a large water-filled room with dead people attached to chains floating upside-down, feet pointing
towards the ceiling. In some rooms you can hear a faint hearthbeat sound loop and that really scary.
Some says that this instance was closed due to keep the age rating for the game.

-Coords: 169 3105.41 3096.78 27.0032 Emerald Forest Statue
169 -2128.12 -1005.89 132.213 The Verdant Fields

using “/sit /stand” lag macro before it got fixed.

  • Info:
Azshara Crater was planned as a future Battleground located in Azshara. It was likely to be in southern Azshara,
in the Forlorn Ridge. It was intended to work in a similar fashion to Alterac Valley. The BG is divided into three
areas, one Horde, one Alliance and one Neutral.

Old Scarlet Monastery
-Coords: 44 126 -1 19

  • Info:
Blizzard designed the SM to be a connected instance, whit connected i mean that all the 4 parts of SM were
ment to be together when release came out but everything didn’t come out like that. Blizzard wanted the
parts of the SM be seperated to easier and harder parts. Althought the Old SM still exists ingame and it
has pretty great looking graphics and amazing story to tell. I myself prefer this better than seperated SM.
The real SM is connected too but not the same way as old SM; all the 4 instances are on same map so with XYZ
you can fly from cathedral to graveyard.

Stormwind Vault
(Aka. Stormwind Jail or Prison)
-Coords: 35 -1 52 -27

  • Info:
The Stormwind Vault is a prison within the human capital of Stormwind, it is a lot bigger scale than the
