What is going on with Layering? Way too many people everywhere!

On Mograine the game is literally unplayable, and impossible to do a quest. Every zone I go where I could possibly quest is completely flooded with people and camping each mob spawn. I haven’t seen this many player since launch.

Do I really have to go dungeon grinding to be able to progress? Can you please turn back proper layering?

Now people can’t abuse layer hopping, i mean if you want your economy obliterated then sure, keep asking for “proper” layering.

there is a large area between the abusion of layer hopping and having multiple people camping a mob spawn. It is quite annoying even for a slain “X” amount of a specific mob, not to mention when you have to collect items. Some quests take more than an hour. I’m experiencing this since yesterday.

I’ve no idea about this and im not even basing it on personal experience on how many players ive seen recently(though it is more)

But if I was to remove layering before phase 2, I would do it in segments. Like heating up a pot of water when a toad is inside

I personally enjoy seeing a lot of people wherever i go. It might make leveling slow, but it also forces you to interact with people, try to group up, help each other etc.
Which in my opinion is what Classic/Vanilla is all about.

Sadly on this forums there are only extremes. Either you are for layering, and support a bad economy and seeing no players, or you want 0 layers, queues and impossible questing.

Would you rather have no layer, and a harder time questing, or an economy that takes years to fix itself?

Would be great if we could quest in raids. Right now even grouping up doesnt help because there is still 2-3 more groups contesting your spawns. Not to mention barely getting any quest items.

Might also be more people during the weekend.

It seems Blizz made each layer slightly too big or the mob dynamic respawn function a bit too weak. This is forcing players in the most populated/active level brackets (currently ~32-40) away from questing and into dungeon grinding because waiting for mobs in every quest is both boring and inefficient.

If you go to STV right now every single mob connected to a quest is being camped and every quest takes 2 times as long as it would have back in vanilla.

Not sure Blizz should do anything about it though. Layering is already a sensitive issue.

I dont get it. Can you guys see further than your nose? Like there are other options than just extremes. There is an exceptionally high number of players at the moment and blizzard have to react to this dynamically. There is a way higher demand to quest mobs than it will be later on average. Grouping up with other - as you vanillaheaded people constantly say - will only help for kill quests but most quests are ones when you have to grind for items (don’t get me wrong, i of course group up, and really like this aspect of the game). For a group of 5 it will just take 5x more time to complete, and there are 10-20-30 people farming the same location. It is just frustrating.

I’ve not seen any pictures or anything for context. I have been on private server launches where literally every mob spawn was camped by groups of players all day every day for weeks.

If I seen that, I wouldn’t like it.

But I think chances are, people might be exaggerating a bit

There are currently no layers on Mograine, everyone is in the same layer.
This happend after the DDOS from yesterday.

I do not experience any lag but there are so many people doing the same quests.
Increasing temporary respawn timers (depending on the number of people around) seems to be a much better solution then layers.

Just finished doing the Dun Garok elite quests in Hillsbrad and jesus christ, Elite mobs respawning every 20-30 seconds makes for a gruesome experience. You are pretty much permanently in combat.

Last time I heard people were complaining about layering system and why its bad xD

Yeah its ridiculous all questing zones crowded with people waiting for mobs to respawn

The respawn rates are definitely a bit aggressive at times.

I wish I had your problem. I just led a crusading raid against Horde heretics in Hillsbrad and STV and barely made 50 kills. STV was darn near empty at 6pm on a Sunday.

I’m convinced there would’ve been more Horde around :pensive:

I also have issues with very quick respawn rates, it was impossible to do Morbent Fel without 3-4 people because the respawn was literally 10-15 seconds.

Don’t play an MMO if you don’t want to play a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game and see lots of people
There’s plenty of CO-OP games pretending to be MMOs that would suit you better

Or if you’re a layer-hopper farmer just say so
