What is gold used for in classic wow

Hi, obviously besides getting your mount and spells.
So I went into this character thinking I want to farm gold. I’ve made about 200 odd gold from being stingy and following some guides on where/what to farm.

But then some awesome guy who was quitting wow gave me 900 gold.

Now I feel kinda like idk wtf to do with it.
I’m still being stingy in mindset. But now with 1100 gold I’m sitting here thinking idk wtf to actually do with this.

I checked auction house and tbh idk what bis is for warlock etc, but nothing I saw looked impressive.

So what is gold for besides mounts etc?

Are you in Era or wrath?

I am in classic era

You should just keep it until you need it. Maybe use it to level a profession.

1k isn’t much in Wrath.

Hey Shadow,

Firstly… you’re more than welcome to share that gold around with your fellow ‘Social Guild’ members… :eyes:

But in reality, gold use differs slightly in Classic era, generally because you’ll find less items on the AH (especially gear (BIS/High End Epics), because less people are playing the game than when Classic was released 3 years or so ago).

However, it can be useful if you’re time limited or unable to farm materials - I for example will farm gold and buy certain materials needed for enchants/raiding/alt gear etc etc, simply because I find farming raw gold easier and more enjoyable than farming specific mats.

For example: I’ll farm gold to buy mats for potions, to then ask my alchemy friends to make potions/flasks or I’ll farm gold to buy Large Brilliant Shards / Righteous Orbs for crusader enchants instead of farming them…

Like anything, gold has its uses but it majorly depends on your playstyle, playtime, items needed and whether you do/don’t want to farm. Having gold to spend might speed up your gearing process. It might also speed up levelling process of alts / make them powerhouses, by buying them overpowered low level items to level with. (I’m not saying that you should speed through levelling content, just it’s an option).

Anyways, I hope that makes some sort of sense and if you’re still unsure, reach out to me in guild on my mage or paladin, both named Deezy and I’ll happily take the gold off of your hands… I mean, help you work out the right way to use it for you. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you plan to raid, save it for naxxramas

Buying things for raid, leveling profs

Epic mount, then consumables and chronoboon if you want to raid. Crafted BoE’s for some Classes but they’re kind of rare in Vanilla.

Oooh I see, so gold is almost like a resource, instead of farming stuff I can just buy it. Thus far I’ve been leveling alts if I needed mats
Okay, that makes sense. I think I’ll probably run into some gold issues at level cap (maybe?) so I’ll save it for then, if I ever do raid etc.

Or keep it for when I have an alt etc

Also but yes xd - if anyone does need gold in a pinch I can try to help.

Indeed, it’s a resource. Just depends on your circumstances as to what you use it for.

Keep it for as long as you can, it’ll help you at end game most definitely.

See you in guild, if you need anything just ask.
