What makes you think I buy everything they put in store? I’ve bought exactly 1 mount and 1 boost (so I can play BC without boring Vanilla leveling) over the past 15 years. Never asked for anything to be added in store.
You highly overestimate the influence of cash shop. Gameplay, systems, content, thats what is important, cash-shop, at least in its current form, has very limited influence to the game.
Shadowlands lost 30% of playerbase because they are done with current content, not because its a garbage expansion. It happens when you got 1 patch for like 9 months.
Classic lost many more people since launch, is that a bad game?
Entire industry is in pathetic state? Its the biggest in history. Its not “nerd” industry anymore, actually its bigger than movie or music industry.
Companies exist to make profit. Its completely normal. I know Classic players don’t want to hear that but its a reality. And for me cash-shop is totally fine unless you can stockpile power for money. Cosmetics, toys, mounts, level boost? I could not care less, it doesn’t influence me at all if someone buys it.
They will do it if the booster kids make a big enough impact on TBC. Expect the worst if that’s so.
My hope is that they will all get bored because Classic era gameplay isn’t zippy twitchy flashy and go-go-go enough for them to stay interested.
There will DEFINITELY be a flying cash shop mount. They will also expand the boost out to new races, and there’s a fair chance they’ll add race and faction changes. Also the token is quite a possibility.
Do you think they care about the integrity of Classic? The ONLY reason why they did for the first years of Classic original was because the main and loudest audience was precisely people who hated all that nonsense. Now, things have changed dramatically, look at the forums-- it is now a battle with other players, and the booster kids are clearly winning.
The kinds of things people are fine with and even advocating would be utterly unthinkable coming from these forums a year ago. Make no mistake the community has failed Classic TBC and Classic going forward-- I just worry they’ll ruin the OG Classic as well.
If you think ppl don’t like cash shops because they can’t afford anything then you are just stupid.

I think that is the issue yeah. And in that sense I get the arrival of the cash shop, so many of the Classic crowd going for max efficiency, boosts, an intolerance of what the original game was about. Maybe it’s simply a result of times changing, and the past decade or so having changed the gaming industry so fundamentally that there’s no going back.
I do find it saddening in a way. I really love the original game, and I go at the pace I enjoy. And so do many others. But it’s not the dominant mindset anymore, that’s for sure. I don’t mean to tell others how to play a game, but I do scratch my head at times how this rushing, competitive and meta fixated stance is actually fun to so many. It just seems rather stress and anxiety inducing to me.
Its not a thick skull, rather it is a skull of uniform density.
