What is the easiest class to play for someone with learning problems?

beastmaster hunter

Dont go holy priest. To much multitasking. You have to keep a eye on a lot of things at once.

I could not agree with this more. It’s not about being the best for him, it’s about having fun and enjoying it. Let him try them all out and let him decide which gives him the most joy. To be honest, we could all take a leaf from that book. It should be about Joy, not what is best/easiest/most OP.

I would say, the easiest role to play in PvE is tanking for sure, 100% it is a very easy role to learn and can be fun and challenging depending on the content. personally, I like simple classes like Guardian druid, but he might get bored playing it, even if the tanking aspect is fun. Vengeance Demon hunter is very fun, engaging and easy to play. that is a class and spec I would recommend trying. If he absolutely wants to dps, I don’t really know what would be easy to learn, yet exciting enough to play. personally I really like Hunter and moonkin. BM hunter is very easy to play.

i want to make sure you arent getting the false impression your claim that fury warrior isnt a new player friendly spec can get any recognition beyond your echo chamber.
Before making such obviously flawed judgments publicly as if its a common knowledge to someone that fury warrior cant be successfully played by a new player in any content, you should try some other specs in this game and find out you are playing probably the most fail - proof class and spec.

and i am not your pal,

With some people, a task with to much multitasking could be more than just a bad experience. The stress of it all could cause them to meltdown like the chernobyl reactor, when the stress of being forced to perform for others in raids etc hits them. I would consider what the OP is saying, without judgement.

That’s why I suggested trying them all.

Not all learning difficulties are the same. Trying each one to find the one which causes them less stress and gives them more joy is what is really important. I have played with someone with autism who found their place in healing, another who had social anxiety that surprisingly found tanking was their bag as it was their responsibility alone… it’s as they say ā€œhorses of coursesā€ā€¦ when it comes to some social difficulties, the best way is to try… and see what you like.

Managing Havoc can be tricky, other than that yes it is easy. Chaos Bolt goes Brrrrr! :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking as someone with autism i completely get you.
I would have to go with BM hunter, I’ve heard suggestions for frost DK but as Frost DK is my main, take my word for it, it isn’t as easy as it looks.

A lot of Frost depends on what level 7 talent you choose and then it takes careful management or your dps will crumble, and your frost dk becomes a major liability and you will hate it.

if I’m feeling particularly stressed BM is (imo) the easiest spec I’ve ever played. With a spirit beast you are gold for soloing with it’s spirit mend spell macroed with pet heal. You will need to have the mend pet tooltip seperate as it morphs into pet revive should the pet die.

/cast Mend Pet
/cast [@player] Spirit Mend

Leave the spirit mend sparkling and the pet will auto cast it if available if you drop below a certain health threshold.

Another macro i use is the bestial wrath and Aspect of the Wild, it activates both spells at once. great for on pull and burst phases, such as when Sludgefist hits a pillar.

#showtooltip
/cast bestial wrath
/cast aspect of the wild

Also use this one for a quick Kill Command burst ignoring everything else.

#showtooltip
/petattack
/petassist
/use Kill Command
(optional commands)
/use Claw
/use Bite
/use Smack

Good luck to your buddy no matter what he chooses.

The most important thing going forward, will probably be to find him a friendly guild, happy to coach him… the group finder method of interaction, might be a less than ideal environment.

I’m on the spectrum and have real bad trouble multi-tasking irl and in-game, and even to this day I can get real bad information overload in slightly higher mythic plus or raid nights and inevitabley start the 'ol tunneling lol so tbh, he will potentially have some sort of trouble with most classes but I main BM and atm have 2nd mains of Spriest and Sub Rogue.

My advice is, ask the kid what HE wants to play, or just let him work away with all 12 classes and see what he takes to, you’d be suprised honestly.

Fair play for looking out for him and the rest though, good fella :+1:

I would say BM hunter.

Melee - Havoc DH.

Caster - Arcane mage

If he still struggling with rotation and multi tasking then download addon hekili - which will taught him basic rotation of any class.

Do we speak strictly solo content here, or might it also involve group content?

Affli have a lengthy but straight forward rotation - through and repeat. Example of my lvl 60 rotation:

You constantly demonstrate the amazing lack of ability to put yourself in others shoes. It’s uncanny. It’s like an anti-power you have.

Again, not what I said. I never said it wasn’t new player friendly. I specifically said that the kind of monitoring warrior requires would be hard for my resident to monitor. He gets overwhelemed easily with multitasking due to his autism, not because he is a new player. Read the other replies and you’ll see other people have also had troubles with certain classes. Just because they are simple for you doesn’t mean they are for everyone.

Thank you for your reply, BM is the popular opinion which I will speak to him about today but thank you for the macro suggestions too  Exactly the kind of insight I was hoping for.

Thank you  It’s very rewarding to be fair so I cant complain haha

How are you not banned yet? Almost everything you say is trying to stir up a fight.

OnTopic:
BM-Hunter or Frost-DK (Obliteratebuild) are safe bets.

Try to stay away from classes with DoTs as their main source of damage or classes with Energy as their Ressource. Those tend to be hard to manage, since they involve actively not pressing buttons when they come available, but wait for the right moments to do so.
Also, classes that have to stand still for the majority of their rotation are relatively hard to master.
Also UnholyDK with its three resources is kind of a mess complexitywise.

Initially it is just going to be basic solo content leveling and maybe see how he gets on in some dungeons. If he really gets into it and wants to try group content then who am I to hold him back from the wonders of group finder :joy:

Quite the counter arguments you had there…

Precisely what of my statement was wrong? None of the dps specs are as complex as a lot of people tend to make them out to be, what some of them are on the other hand is tedious due to a lack of flow in their rotation. Lets take fury for example as Kiezz showed concern for, this spec you spam Bloodthirs/Raging blow and click on Rampage whenever you can (No need to think about actual uptime, just slap the button when it flashes), at worst you can slap Whirlwind, Bloodthirst and Raging blow into a castsequence leaving you with 3 buttons to think about… Something i actually did back in Legion for the mage tower challenge. Might not be optimal but it worked.

Arguably the only specs that are complex would be dot specs, but ultimately that boils down to just how ā€œprofessionalā€ you are going to be playing that class, by either making it so the dots clip as close to their end as possible… Or just spam them all in sequence whenever one is about to drop off. Oh and arcane mage, due to it being the only spec where you can severely limit your output by just spamming things.

Tank and healer on the other hand has the issue of having to manage more than dps, such as when to use sustain, enemy positioning, crowd control, leading the group, managing others mistakes…

Ultimately the choice boils down to preference, and encouragement would probably work better than to try and steer away from a class. My only real recommendation is to select talents that gives the best flow for the spec.

I would suggest paladin. Straight forward, skills do what they say and self-healing will help him also.
DH could be also.
