What is the easiest class to play for someone with learning problems?

Or playing solo. I suffer from anxiety and happily play on my own or sometimes with the friend I started with back in vanilla. I could never join a guild or do content where people had expectations of me. I’m not a bad player but crumble and forget everything I’ve ever learnt in a group situation.

It all depends on what he can cope with and there have been loads of good suggestions in the thread. Wishing him the best of luck!

I’d have gone to my usual pick of WW Monk, but even though I like it, WW monk is hard to play because you always have to be pressing different buttons and spells to not break the mastery.

Instead, I’m gonna go for arcane mage: heavy hitter, quick simple rotation with a few interrups and combat buffs to micromanage.

Ah, but there’s a small detail that experienced WOW/DH players forget, which is DH are very hard to manuver when you’re first playing it. It’s very clunky to play until you get the hang of it.

Heavily disagree for WW. As enjoyable as it is (110 days gametime, trust me on that), it’s HARD to get right. You can only be OP when you know HOW to weave the different spells together and NOT break your mastery at the same time.

It’s fun, but not easy.

Would you agree that it is easy to play but hard to master?
I mean, if you want to squeeze absolutely the most out of the spec it is very hard.
Otherwise, I feel the basics are intuitive. But perhaps it is because I feel comfortable playing monk.

It’s probably that and frankly I know what you mean. I’ve tried numerous specs and classes, even ones I’ve played way back when I was a teenager (like Survival Hunter) but it doesn’t feel natural for me like Windwalker does. I’ve been playing WW as my main since I joined retail in 2015 (and for a few months before that in a private server).
I often wonder how the hell did I end up maining a WW monk and how easy it is for me to play WW now. I’ve never been this confortable with a class, not even with my former Hunter main.

BM hunter
Demo lock
Things just click together.

Same here. I tried several classes and played fury quite long.

And then came back in November, tried WW and fell totally in love with it.

I can’t get into gimmicky classes or multi-dots ones. WW is straight to the point in its basics but the more you learn the more complicated it becomes - and it is totally cool. Better to play a class with secret ropes you learn with time.

I’d suggest a durable melee if he were to do world content. On higher levels, unless the character’s already very well-geared, a caster will usually have to kite stuff and be mindful about where they fight mobs. If he’s got issues with multi-tasking, then doing his rotation while also ensuring that he’s not getting hit too much, keeping his distance from the enemy and also not running into further packs that’ll get him into trouble is going to be an issue. Having issues with high-level quests might discourage him from touching the endgame, so a caster having a simple rotation for raiding will not necessarily mean it’s the right pick for him.

What’s the most durable melee right now? Fury warrior? Ret paladin?

Fury or DH are pretty easy to pick up. There are also some weakauras that “light up” when you should use an ability that may help. You could also just ignore abilities of that overcomplicates things for some classes.

I am glad to hear that.
Stick with WW for long enough and its capabilities will surprise you.

I’ve recently started doing arena skirmishes for a bit of anima and (if i survive long enough) I can pulverize an entire team with how much AOE I can do. WW is amazing when you start understanding how their spells interact with one another and how to use being outnumbered to your advantage.

Fire mage frost mage Balance druid holy priest any paladin specc.

Ret paladin…in every aspect of the game! (PvE/PvP… fishing and pet battles even).

BM hunter is very forgiving. Especially in the open world with your own personal tank.

would also say Havoc DH, Frost Mage, even frost DK are ‘easy’ on the face of it.

Maybe have him try class trials? Puts em at whatever level, with everything unlocked to use. Only way you can, imo anyway, get a feel for a spec without really levelling it all the way.

Best of luck.

Demonhunter and balance druids are very easy, but alot of classes/speccs are not that hard to learn

It wont matter what interest. It will be focused on at the neglect of everything else.

Agree would be much better off in ESO - it has controller support and only has 5 main skills (and one ultimate with a cd) on each of the 2 weapons of which you can only use one at a time.

I have an autistic daughter and she’d be massively frustrated in WoW as she hates not winning, or things not going her way.

Beast Mastery Hunter. The pet takes almost all the hits and distracts the enemies while you decide which button to push next.

Just help him to create a macro to replace his “Cobra Shot”.
Macro:

#showtooltip Cobra Shot
/cast [@pet,exists] Misdirection
/cast Cobra Shot

This macro just casts misdirect every time before “Cobra Shot” so the enemy keeps attacking the pet.
