What is the point of having a mission table in BfA?

Quick recap:
WoD - over 9000 followers/traits/missions, lucrative rewards making it pretty much mandatory to do. So obviously it needed tuning down.
Legion - couple of followers, pretty good rewards but people still complained.

And now we got something that is… complete time waste?
There is literally no point in sending table missions because is a pure waste of time.

Some example:

  • To send a mission you need from 20-100 resources. Lets say average 40
  • The only way to get resources would be to do WQ (or emissaries).
  • WQ awards from 30-60 Resources, lets say average 45
  • BUT the rewards are basically reputation/azerite/almost-zero gold.

So in order to send a mission you need to do 0.88 world quest (or by completing one WQ you can send 1.12 missions). You need couple of minutes to make 1 WQ.

Azerite:
In the same time you can clear one island expedition (if you know tactics, mythic island takes up to 5 minutes).
Reputation?
100-300 rep that costs 40 resources? Is this a joke?
Gold
200g for 40 resouces, totally not worth.

So the question to blizz, why not just scrap it? It has been nerfed so much that older expansions table gives better rewards.

It’s a soft catch up mechanic for AP mostly. Or rather “stay afloat” mechanic. If you send them regurarly your heart will be in the relevant tier by complementing common activities instead of farming it.

With some investment you can have a big long term income of stuff like herbs too.

I still use all my tables, from WoD to BfA. I like the rep items from the new one, and the Azerite is handy, but it’s the map you get per week that keeps me interested. I kinda like it better now, actually. You’re free to simply ignore it as there’s nothing really major on it, which was not the case in previous expansions.

Guys you still gotta do WQ in order to send a mission, might as well target WQ that directly awards azerite/rep.

There is no point. The rewards are garbage now. One whole day for 135 gold? No thank you. :joy:

I use it on my alt I am trying turn to main to “speed up” AP.
Beside that I used it for extra rep before I became full-exalted with all available on previous main beside Champions of Azeroth which I still send mission table whenever it’s up.

Cuz freck CoA WQ’s.

I have all 5 followers at legendary now, and the missions give me a small catch up when working etc.
It would be nice if the rewards were better thought out. Increase in bonus for AP, varied quests, higher gold returns.
The gold rewards are ridiculous btw. Whoever set those needs to actually play the game.
How about adding some extra rare quests? Maybe for pet, toy or something else cosmetic or fun. Just don’t add gears unless unique to the mission table as a transmog item.

Alas, as with a lot of BFA features, it could have been better with more thought and effort.
I’d score it 4/10 as a feature overall.

You do realize you gotta spend time in order to send a mission? You literally have to do a one world quest to send one mission. Which is just a waste of time because AP can be farmed waaaay faster on islands (and infinitely). Rep is kinda ok but still emissaries are far more time efficient.

No, you do not. After a while you do not know how to get rid of those war resources because you get 500 from each paragon chest plus 50 from each emissary quest via upgrade, plus those you l’ll get during invasion quests and those quests that gives faction medals.

Right now I’m sitting on 24k of them, and I them using for bonus roll medals and sending every mission possible.

Yes you do, just becaue you farmed a lot world quests doesnt mean you didn’t invest your time in it.
Doing emissary = 4 WQ, 200 resources = 50 on average.
Doing invasions = WQ
Paragon chest = WQ/Emissary/Missions(which require resources)

Resources are fine to use on coins, but again, instead of farming Azerite/Resources on world quests, its easier and faster to just go to mythic islands and do some proper tactics.

It’s one click before you do anything else. It’s not like you actively do them for them to be a time investment.

Who said I only get AP from mission table?
I am both farming it and getting it from mission table when I am waiting for IE queue.

And I have no better use of WR for now anyway so… Yeah.

Well you see missions gives you reward on top of the reward every 10k rep means 4k gold from paragon chest, so you send a mission for 500 rep - so in a long run this mission gives you 200 gold and with fully upgraded followers those mission have reduced time.

Did I mention that if you invest into profession Items every mission can bring you mats , not a big chance if you have 1 such item but pretty big one when every follower have 2 of those. If you patient enough - it will pay off. If not - don’t bother.

Guys, please consider time needed to farm these resources, its not WoD where resources generated itself and you just picked up a chest.

If you want to get azerite efficiently - islands, no doubt about it. Missions will not give you more/extra azerite. You still gotta farm resources.

Reputations, sure they give extra 100-300 each day - not everyday you get it, not everytime you have it on 200%. Also they cost usually 40-80 resources. And it is pretty much random faction

200g mision is a joke, you can get more from literally spending 5 minutes fishing.

Many small streams of water becomes a river. imagine how much rep and gold you get by doing them a hundred times

I’m missing the ocean that we had in WoD and Legion. :joy:

Its business where time = money. Missions costs you time and all I am saying it is inefficient because.

  • if you want money → collect herbs/ores or fishes - will give you much more than mission per hour spent.
  • If you want AP - go to islands, learn tactics and farm mythics under 5 minutes.
  • If you want rep - well, you are stuck with emissaries/WQ and missions (but it is still inefficient since you get gold/resources/rep/AP as reward)

IF WQ would be giving 200 resources then missions would be ok. But since they give 30-60, it is not.

It’s a way for Blizzard to make anyone who still liked the system to dislike it in BFA so they can get completely rid of it in the next expansion without too much outrage.

I kinda think you’re right. It really feels like it’s slowly being phased out.

Has anyone ever gotten 200% success on that dang treasure map?
