What is the point of the Glamora selling PVP Elite Ensembles?

Since patch 11.0.5 (The 20th anniversary update) Glamora in Valdrakken sells elite pvp ensembles from the 4 Dragonflight seasons if your character has unlocked the Rival I Achievement in the respective season.

However the 4 different Rival I Achievements in Dragonflight are not warband(account)-wide, so you are buying an ensemble for a pvp elite set that you already have (since they are automatically rewarded for having achieved Rival 1?) Since Glamora does not allow you to buy elite pvp sets for other classes even if you change the buy menu to “all classes”

Perhaps it was intended that people who have Rival I on a character would be able to buy elite sets for other classes for that season but this does not seem to be possible right now? as other characters/classes do not have the achievement earned on their character and the menu does not allow you to buy sets for other classes.

It is also possible that the reason that these ensembles were added is to allow people to get the other appearance source name for Dragonflight Season 3 and 4, since the sets from Season 3 are called “Verdant Gladiator” and the sets from Season 4 are called “Draconic Gladiator”.

However i believe that the sets from season 1 and 2 only have one name despite still being sold so i actually do not know what is going here.

Is this intended and is the purpose of those ensembles to get the different set names, rather than new cosmetics or was the intend that people who obtained Rival I will have the ability to buy elite pvp sets for other classes?

The whole concept of elite pvp sets being unobtainable outside of their season is outdated and pointless.

All the old elite pvp sets should be obtainable with marks of honor after a couple of expansions have passed.

The whole concept of ANYTHING being unobtainable doesn’t make sense.

It’s there for the people who got Elite but forgot to buy it during the season.

Doesn’t make sense to you. Which is not the same, as it’s a subjective matter of opinion.

You don’t need to buy the elite sets; they unlock automatically as you gain rating. Only the weapon appearances need to be purchased.

No, I suppose someone at Blizzard was tasked with creating these appearance ensembles for old Dragonflight PvP items but wasn’t told which ones specifically, so they made them for everything. Or maybe they’re there in case some players experienced bugs that prevented them from obtaining the appearances. Who really knows? Probably the person who created them.

I agree.

True.

That the NPC sells the sets is pointless indeed. They were rewarded automatically. For the elite weapons it made sense. Now you can learn weapon types as mogs which you cant use, the change was made after the first seasons, so you can now get the weapons you missed, despite having the rating.

As to old stuff beeing avaible. No it should not. Be there and get the rewards or miss out, they are a reward for skill. Currently elite sets are down to 1800 and weapons to 2100 which is way lower than it was.

I think the other way around would be better. Remove mytic raid sets and mounts after their season is over so you cant farm them years later.

I am totaly for gating items into seasons and behind skill checks.

This items are desirable because they are rare.

Instead of craving for the old sets you could start to learn pvp to get the current ones …

Well thats the issue here, isn’t it ?

I want a vendor that sells mythic look for the people that forgot to kill mythic bosses during the season.

While a vendor does not exist currently, you can stroll through raids up to 2 expansions ago (which now means Shadowlands) and oneshot everything to unlock Mythic looks. The closest equivalent we have for PvP is using your Marks of Honor and then Honor itself to purchase older appearances.

So in both cases you still have to do content and it’s not offered on a vendor for free or for very low effort. If anything, the fact that older raids are oneshot means they’re easier and faster to have their looks unlocked compared to older PvP items.

Hard disagree. If you value something because it’s rare, that’s you; personally, I don’t care if everyone has an item or not, it won’t make the item more or less valuable to me in-game. I only like things for two reasons in the game: aesthetic and functionality.

For example, I have Invincible. I spent weeks farming it on multiple alts until I finally obtained it, and I’ve been primarily using this mount across all my characters ever since it dropped. I love it for the two reasons I mentioned earlier: its aesthetic appeal and functionality. The story behind this mount also makes it feel extra special. However, I wouldn’t mind if they added it to the Trading Post tomorrow or even increased the drop rate to 100%. What matters to me is that I have it and enjoy it.

Hell I’d be open to having the old elite pvp sets cost more than the non-elite ones, with marks of honor. Currently outfits are priced at 12 marks - make the elite ones more expensive if people are really concerned with others getting stuff “for free” (I’m not even going to open that can of worms). I’d even be open to them being obtainable with conquest.

Just make them obtainable.

I have a question for you all, if they did actually implement it and you can now obtain elite sets from MoP or Legion but it requires you to hit 1800 rating (Rival) would you guys do it? Same for the elite weapons being 2400 rating (Elite) would you guys commit to it too?

I think is fair that these items are locked because these sets give a lot of character and those that achieved on the day worked for it, that’s just my opinion.

Oh how dare someone have something I do not.

I am going to answer “yes”, even though I will most likely never get that rating.

I believe it would be good to keep those rewards available with the same conditions. E.g. you get the required 1800 rating, you unlock ALL sets that had that requirement

By that logic, no appearances should be obtainable outside of their curve season.

Let’s take Legion as an example. Antorus is entirely soloable in all modes, and now I can obtain everything, including class-restricted gear, on my warlock. Mythic and heroic raiding is never exactly a walk in the park when it’s current content.

Why can’t the same apply to elite pvp gear from the same expansion? What’s the disconnect there?

Absolutely, and I think it would actually revitalize the PvP scene somewhat if that was an option. It’d be incentive for a lot of people to either return to- or try out rated PvP, even if the current season’s rewards don’t appeal to them.

I think locking anything away, just because we weren’t around at the right time, is plain silly. It’s not a skill check, it’s a “did you have the time and interest in this particular point in time” check.

The condition for the old sets was 2.200cr, not 1.800.

Details, point still stands.
Whatever arbitrary number you had to meet
