What do you mean by “alone”? Not in a group or noone else around? 40 yrds are quite a large range, and in case you are Night Fae yourself, you still hear the sound even if there is noone else to buff.
Think it may be solved…the bird cheep sounds when a player next to you uses the Night Fae Flicker option, and turns into a butterfly.
I hear it in solo thorgast… So I don’t think this is it. (not fey if that wasn’t ovious :D)
Oh man, I kept hearing it in AWC and also getting confused. I’m not entirely sure if it were soulshape (I suspected it as well), but I think I also heard it at times where nobody used it, so… would love to be tagged when someone finds it out!
It’s pepe.
Hes the end boss of ShadowLands. It will become louder and louder until he spawns like the marshmallowman in ghostbusters.
It’s a sound associated with one of the Night Fae covenant conduits that was unlocked last week; Wild Charge or something like that. This was confirmed a few threads down.
Doesn’t matter if you ‘alone’ if someone else is in Torg and uses soul form with that buff active - every single player in all of their own layers hears it as long as they are in the same spot as that NF who is in a different layer.
The sound carries across every single layer in game of map for that location, all it takes is one NF to soul form with that buff active.
Yes it’s that bugged a cov talent.
Even in PvP?
Seems so.
I was just in a arathi BG down by GM, no one soul formed on our side or theirs but the pepe cheep played loud and clear like someone in the locality had!
Why would it, ever. There is a reason why these things where called “instances”. I love how you boldly claim that this is the case.
Got a blue post on that that we aren’t aware about?
Why not claim that it’s crossrealm aswell? It also doesn’t readily explain why some people on even MORE populated realms think we are making this up, while we hear it about 2 or thrice per play session on some really broken low pop realms.
Or could it possibly be that you are trying to make it fit the theory without any appreciation of how instances work?
Based on my experience and what others’ are reporting here and on wowhead
What experience? They hear the sound when noone is around. The idea that this is crossing phases and instance boarders is solely based on the expectation that it IS the fey form that is doing it.
It’s reverse induction. And thus theoretical by definition.
You are basically inversely extending “where that fey might be, because there has to be one”
I do have my doubts about this theory though. If it worked like that with the layers, we would hear it non stop!
