Rng rng rng gearing.
PvP vendors gone.
Class Design and gameplay is questionable.
Everything else is 1000 better than in Classic. Class Design is also better in BFA.

My 2 cents here:
I agree that everything that can be put to numbers, Graphics, Gameplay, Mechanics etc… became better over the years, but overall the game… how can I say this… lost its soul?
What I mean is, lets take the new zones for example. Yeah, they are beautiful, but do they feel real? Like its really a zone that existed before your character arrived? Where you are just a little figure, trying to find your way?
Nope, every zone is like a Theme park ride, you go in, complete the ride and go out. Exploration is pointless, because you are lead from one quest to the next, and are told exactly where to go all the time.
Mobs dont feel dangerous either, a whole village full of hostiles was someting you approached with respect in Vanilla, giving it a sense of threat that is just nowhere to be found in BFA, where you only wonder how many you can pull at once before it becomes tricky.
The old Vanilla zones were just… they felt real. Like real zones, not just a collection of quests.
Empty world, when add-on instead of adding the same 6 or 8 locations replaces the old 40 locations, then replaces 46-48 locations and the train goes on. Add-on should add, not replace, idk how it should be done but the amount of the useless locations having gygabytes on a PC is meh. Dead leveling, no newbie would play this game a month from lvl 1 to 110, maybe 5% or less of all who attempt will try to learn what is this magnificient game world of warcraft at lvl 120. If the token won’t be used the person will get bored quite fast.
I’d advise you to actually read the quests.
They’re story lines.
The difference between retail and Classic there is that in Retail, you’re the epic savior of the entire world and then some, the chosen one, immortality and godhood incarnate. You’re told you are the only one who can do these things, you’re the one who matters.
In Classic, you’re Bob the Blackhaired Warlock whose pets are all references to Maroon 5. Sometimes you’re finding dolls for little girls. Sometimes you’re stocking up the local butcher. Sometimes you’re scouting for people. Sometimes you’re cleansing the planet. Sometimes you’re joining up with major raid parties to quell ancient evils.
But you’re not some legendary hero or chosen one. You’re just Bob. And for Bob, finding dolls for little girls is good enough.
“Classic is so.much better in every way”
“But everything about retail is better”
What? Whet? Whot?
What exactly are tou trying to say???
Classic is best…but retail is better?
One cant be “the best” of another is “better”.
Retail is better gfx and music wise.
But classic is better gamewise, lvling, the memories etc.
And having that good feeling while playing beats good gfx and sounds…
Hell NETHACK is more enjoyable than severaø.gfx games…
Did the made this new character models to support the retarded community?

It was cute dolls
Only thing you need to do in Classic is to wait until you have finished eating and drinking and then you proceed to press 1-2-3 and repeat. And that goes on and on for hundreds of hours.
In BFA I use Timewarp, Cast and plant Meteor, activate Lucid Dreams, press combustion macro with dps trinket if you have one: fireblast fireblast pyroblast (meteor lands) fireblast pyroblast fireblast pyroblast etc. and the world sets on fire.
Classic in underwhelming in all facets. And that is to put it extremely politely.
I do however miss terribly Arcane Explosion, Blizzard and Cone Of Cold across all Mage specs. That’s what Classic does better than BFA.
I remember getting my first flying mount in TBC and thinking: “this is way overpowered.” I think I was right.
Flying was so bad in TBC, it was faster to walk. I doubt anyone actually thought that was OP.
How can people say zul’dazar is awful? It’s stunning. If it was part of classic and played like classic, we’d be having raptures.
If they’d made the city a classic raid, it would be like cross between zul’gurub and brd. I can imagine a weary group of travellers, finally climbing the steps to the final bosses, to the sound of soaring music. I wish.
Instead we’re all shiny champions and the city is where the bank is.
Unfortunately for me the gameplay, where everything is rushed through at light speed, with timers and other players forcing it, ruins it totally for me. And I’m very sad about it.
I’m a steady casual who likes fishing, crafting, exploring and slow, tactical clearing of content. I like to feel important as a healer, or cc’er or tank, because no one else in the group can take my role and a replacement isn’t a mouse click away.
Ion Hassikostas and JAllen Brack wouldn’t be people I’d want to play the game with. I wouldn’t join their guild and they’d think mine was boring. The new WoW isn’t written for me. A shame, because I’d buy the shop mounts if they were epic, but they’d have to make the game worth my riding them in and for me they haven’t.
I think that could be why all these threads. We want classic because the current game doesn’t do it for us and many of us are actually quite sad about it.
You must have something wrong in your brain then if you cant fly straight line. Please do consult with your doctor and do not attempt to drive car.
Totally agree! If I was a Hordie, I’d join your guild.
I’ve started play wow in second part of legion and haven’t nostalgia, but independent opinion: Retail is not better, this game is “overtuned!”, full of garbage, so this is cause why Classic is better.
Game design is different, Retail and Classic are different game genres at this point.
The Classic demographic is looking for an old-school MMORPG.
Over time Retail has evolved essentially into single player action game with a multiplayer co-op mode.
Oh yes! The ones who sell Raid-boosts. I hate it. If you got a free spot, why dont you just find someone that would like to come along, instead of making it into the wow version of “ill let you tag along if you pay me all your lunchbox money”
Last i was online in retail, that was basically the only thing in tradechat. So sad.
Way too much to do, too many ways to do it, all using automated systems and with far too much meaningless legacy content which is retired almost as soon as you get it.
Everything is a minigame now. It isnt an extension of the world. It is self contained and requires its own advancement which if you fall behind on, you may as well just wait until next ‘season’, a concept introduced to handle PvP gear keeping pace with PvE gear and which now encompasses everything.
I hate zone design of retail… I prefer flat zones, where you can go from point a to point b straight… dont like the new design that you have to do circles or vertical design etc.
Admittedly I only got to 118 in bfa hordeside, but apart from the actual city, it was mostly flat running on roads to where another quest hub was set up. It even had a desert. What I did wasn’t like Legion.
