Vanish seems to have a 50% chance of failing to do anything in dungeons and other scenarios where a lot of mobs are attacking me?
There was always a chance vanish didn’t work in instances and situations where you’re being hit simultaneously. I don’t know what the issue was, but it was always there. I think in TBC they might have added a brief moment of invincibility, to ensure you remained stealthed immediately after vanishing. It’s probably related to spellbatching.
However I think even in retail now, rogues dont always leave combat perfectly after vanishing
It’s probably the same thing causing issues to a lot of classes. Spellbatching.
Stealth and Vanish have always been clunky and had their problems. In Legion, you would drop stealth randomly, now in BfA retail, in battleground specifically, you stay in combat for far longer than other classes. And for far longer than in arenas or open world.
On the other hand, in Classic, if timed correctly, you can vanish incoming projecticles like pyroblast, frostbolt, deathcoil. Look it up on twitch/youtube.
The problem is that when your under melee attack, there is a chance you get an incomming hit, you vanish, and the hit lands, taking you out of stealth.
When under attack from a group this is more likely to happen.
If possible I always try to do a sprint/vanish to be out of reach first in dungeon “oh sh!t” moments.
Try running away for a few seconds before hitting Vanish, you need to make sure you don’t get hit right as your Vanish takes effect, otherwise it’ll pull your straight out of the stealth.
As Shanked said , try run for 1-2 seconds then jump and vanish… this from my experience work better than insta-vanish when u are in melee range. Unfortunately sometimes you do not have those 1-2 seconds
Make sure you add /stopattack to a macro when using Vanish.
