Getting MC gear in classic is going to be hard, especially for DPS classes and even harder for PvPers without a dedicated raiding guild.
What’s your strategy for getting pieces? Better to join a guild that operates DKP or perhaps tag along with a guild that has it on farm and pay 200g per drop for roll priority over their alts?
This isn’t retail. You can’t farm it. You get one shot per week and there’s 40 people in your group after the same loot as you.
It’s typical to see only 1-2 items for your class drop per week and be rolling against 5-20 other players depending on whether it is a setpiece or ring etc.
Not really, Especially when mages only use 3T1 If you have a guild that is consistent and has clears every week then you will get the gear sooner than later. Before BWL comes it will be on farm for bindings and leftover gear drops.
You also have 6 months to farm that place before BWL rolls out, most likely
This is not like the later iterations of WoW, you don’t need (and you probably will never achieve) full BiS from, say, MC to do BWL. Most likely, you’ll still need some MC items by the time you’re into AQ40. And you can still clear Naxx with a guild at T2 level mostly.
Well if you realllly want gear in Classic, atleast tier class pieces, being a mage going to make it harder, that’s why I refused to play Mage cause I know the meta is big, did Onyx, we had 12 mages, and was me and another Warlock basically 50% that u get pieces, and I did get it, being a mage at least at the start when people doesn’t have the gear, in my opinion is a real…pain…
Hope that I will get a chance to raid with the spec of my choice and that the effort of the guild gets rewarded with improvements and new bosses down more and more.
Then accepting that I will be forced back to heal-only and watch as the pugs I’ll get into won’t progress more than the first 3 mobs for hours.
Yeah, I didn’t really think too much about that when choosing my class. I picked mage because they’re so much fun for PvP in classic but that fun is quite likely to be dampened by gear disadvantage vs classes that have less competition.
I think there are maybe two ways to work around it though:
The rank 10 PvP gear is post-buff and almost as good as T1. I can farm that initially to keep me competitive
If I join a guild that runs DKP accumulate points while gearing via PvP rank, I will be able to win tonnes of gear later when people already have some gear and it’s less competitive
