Hey, so I was wondering what kind of villain or motive do you enjoy the most, for the context of what you want your villain to be like, they could be any of the following like:
-Garrosh (upfront, blunt, ruthless, violent, savage)
-Sire Denathrius (charming, elegant, public controller)
-Arthas (morally grey, controlled by greater power, corrupted good guy)
-Kaelāthas (sacrificed the world for his people, driven insane by magic)
-Scarlet Crusade (Religion- and Fearmongering driven community instead of a single person)
-Old gods (Ageless being of void and shadow with only one purpose, to destroy the world)
These are just a few examples, I would love to know what the majority enjoys as far as it comes to big bads of patches or expansions even. Let me hear your thoughts on it!
Personally I really enjoy villains like Arthas or Kaelāthas that really care about their races or culture, cause I really enjoy when the best intentions for the people isnāt the best thing morally, and therefor they become villains with truly the best intentions.
I like the scarlet crusade, or other baddie factions, theyāre more flexible and believable than single huge bad guys.
We can kill a mid-boss of the Scarlet crusade, but the rest will go on causing trouble, a scarlet crusader can come to their senses and decide to join us without affecting the rest, when that happened to an (Up to that point) major villain like Vyranoth, it seemed weird, but a single person (Or small group) from a cult-like faction? Believable.

The light.
After what xera tried to pull on illidan and what happened on AU draenor, I think theyāre the enemy too.

That would definetely be a cool approach and allow for some nice character developement, seeing as till now the light has always been iconic āgood guyā stuff, and could lead into fanatical very obviously and blunt bad guys, which would be refreshing change of pace
Would be great if there were smaller villains to experience, like Aedelas Blackmoore. He wasnāt a supernatural villain, but he was one of the vilest scumbags on Azeroth. Dead and forgotten now.
I just want a calm, clever villain. Lawful evil instead of stupid evil. The kind that actually seems rather reasonable and you could almost join.

Any reference of what you mean, or do you think this has yet to be seen in wow?
We need a realistic one like grand marshal garithos was, not a rawr smash one wich instantly gets burried the first time its tries to do something. And also not some schemer wich comes out of nowhere and not even blizz knows what his scheme is supposed to be like the jailer.
Garrosh and Garithos are great because one clearly can see why they might do what they do
One piece got one of the most original personality villains i have seen in years, one of them blackbeard or Teach.
He is goofy, clumbsy, coward, doesnāt play fair because of all his short commings.
The twist is that noone is laughing on his achievements.
He is even one of the final villains in the story.
Another one kaido, strongest man on the planet, the day he realize he wasnt the āoneā he went on a suicide rampage. So strong he couldnt kill himself. So he became the villain of a whole nation.
I want to see a murloc, which is far more powerful than anything we have ever seen! A Murloc who can speak and mind control the population to finally unlock the Murloc race to be played!!
I love a lot the story of traitors. But not like Sylvanas or Arthas (ok i love arthas but not the kind of enemy who represent) controlled by someone else.
Someone who betrays for a solid purpouse⦠Money? Glory? Secret agaent of evil? Garrosh is somethin similar⦠The head of the stormwind church is a good example - i dont recall the name (benedictus?)
W40K Erebus is a good example.

I guess Xalatath is a close one, depending on what she does next. Maybe Iridikron, he isnāt a zaney destructo maniac. In the book he is certainly portrayed as the strategist. Needs more charisma, though.
Any extreme viewpoint can be dangerous.
yeah i see that, tbf i didnt play shadow priest in Legion, idk what her personality is but I hopre its good.
Very charismatic, sultry, promising you power, youāre the best of friends! Youāll accomplish wonderful things together⦠everyone else is so useless. Itās all for the greater good, of course, itās a partnership, your goals align.
ooooooh gaslighting to love her, well i know a few attention deprived m8s who will love her to bits, already have one who is playing shadowpriest so he can rp to be on her side
Personally i like the smaller bad guys. The pirates, VanCleef. The ones that you can believe you can beat with some friends.
I mean all the big and nasty bad guys, all fun, but really, 20 people defeating the biggest baddest demon there ever was? etc. Nah, just gimme the dungeon endbosses and little evil dudes/dudettes around the world.
The kind of villain that I believe we need at our time is the manipulating one which distorts the truth, knowledge and words to their favor and has their minions infiltrate all the power structures of the society.
Instead of being blatant about what they do they should instead be claiming that their cause is justified.
Or would that strike too close to the real world?
I think most of WoW villains are cool honestly. Its just the voice they have been doing ever since Wrath of the Lich king⦠The coarse and sore super deep echoing covid voice⦠Making your villains big and bad and sound like chain smokers. Doesnāt always = automatically good villain.
The jailer was just kinda it for me⦠Just roll my eyes at this point.
Arthas from the blizzcon trailer. To the Lich king voice we got ingame too. In wrath. Just every villain has this generic super deep echo voice now.
That would be awesome.
They could have done that with Sylvanas whose character was always clever and scheming and then they made her dumb and buy into the most ridiculous waffle ever.
Most villains just seem to end up power hungry and ranting loons or taken over/corrupted by something.
Love Daddy Dena though form the list OP gave.
