Admit I grab the wolf for normal instance runs when required. Owls can be annoying to tanks and furious howl can be more useful for some groups.
Bite is good for burst situations: PvP and non-intensive farming.
Bite is always better than claw when itâs on CD. You should prefer claw because of the cooldown in nearly every situation, but if you can have both itâs even better.
I use one âtypical owl buildâ Claw-Dive-Screech-Growl vulture for intensive farm
One Bite-Claw-Dive-Screech for PvP
One Bite-Claw-Screech-Growl for questing
And bird #3 outperforms bird #1 noticeably. Not huge, because we are still talking about minor variations here. But definitely noticeable.
You know, itâs very valuable when your pet has enough burst that you donât need to âhold outâ dps. Even when your growl gets weaker at level _7-_8-_9
You are using carrion and comparing carrion. Iâm comparing owl and carrion and from level 10 up, as I said, for levelling and boosting.
You canât have a carrion with a typical owl build, say itâs the same as an owl and compare it to a carrion with a different build. You have to compare it to an actual owl.
Owls are offensive pets, carrion are all rounders. Theyâre as different as wolves and cats.

Bear is my most favorite pet.
Bear was my first proper tamed pet back in vanilla. I called him Roosevelt. Every other nelf had a cat, then the armoured pig from rfk. My bear was good and quite unusual in PvP back then, then horde started appearing with bats and everyone wanted one. The good old days.
I chose the bear because of visual aesthetics and preferences, I also like how it doesnât like to die as much as other pets, as for bats, I can see why they were perceived as exotic, but they arenât my thing.
While you are leveling, do you prefer to have 2/3 pets or just one? And how do you struggle with their levels? How do you keep tracking to fall behind in levels? Right now I have only one (Boar level 32 and I am level 33).
I always kept one pet throughout the whole time with the character. It might not be the best option, but it most certainly isnât a deal-breaker (at least for me).
I am leveling with my trusty owl Orly. Advantage of the screech AoE is that you can multishot halfway and the 2nd & possible 3rd mob wonât switch agro to you.
Also in dungeons, the tank/healers might like the -75 AP on all mobs surrounding him.
Lupos doesnât do shadow dmg in 1.12
Right now Iâm using a wind serpent, itâs ranged attack is just supercool and bursty. The only downside is the serpentâs strange diet, for some reason very few vendors in Horde cities sell bread, fish or cheese.
Boars are also very nice with their charge ability, tho itâs sad they have no spammable attacks that would boost their overall dmg.
Aesthetically hyenas are my favorite cuz of their cute sounds and funny animation. Shame their stats arenât great.
I am curious, can you tame Basilisk in Classic? I was looking at Petopia site and I only see crocs there. Righ now I am in STV and there are too mayne awesome Basilisks, so thats why I am asking.
Got a response from the ticket about my lost boar. Canât be recovered because itâs Classic. RIP Boared.

For levelling a turtle all the way. Deep BM spec, with a turtle and you just laugh at the idea of âgroup questsâ.
âThis quest requires a groupâ
âHahahahahahahahahaha! Meet the Turtle! I spit on you so called âelitesâ. Pah!â
For level cap and group play I like to spec to Marksmanship, and use a cat as a DPS pet.
And for PvP, usually a wolf, though I canât give any concrete reasons why.
What do you think about Gorillas? And is it worth to learn dash for boar? If it has a dash, can it knock back the opponent and interrupt casting spell?
Also, Im struggling with TP points on my boar. How do you manage with that?
