Tuskarr, Naga, Jinyu, Murloc, Sethrak, Arrakoa, Ethereals… the list goes on.
Ever since TBC and Wrath, people have wanted random races in either Horde or Alliance purely based on the fact that “lulz but we’ve helped them before xDD omg wouldn’t it be so COOL?!?!?!”
If half of the aforementioned races got added then WoW would turn into a zoo of strange, half-sentient animal races. I can almost imagine walking into a tavern with some friends for some RP and then over half of the NPCs and RPers are suddenly Tuskarr, Jinyu and Murloc.
Gods, no. The Vulpera are bad enough already.
Thankfully with Shadowlands we’ll be getting much more customization options, and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: more customization options rather than more races
Nah, I know Sainur. I’d preferably see them as true neutrals rather than anything aliging with the Horde or the Alliance. Titans forbid. Ethereals are too huge for that. That and I think that their customization would be weird. I mean, at best you could have different colors of energies and what, bandage beard? Energy beard? bandage hair?
At this point, I want Blizzard to just give us all of them, so we can really RP everything. My first choice has always been for them to slow down and give the existing races more attention, but I don’t think they’re about to do that - so just throw us the lot.
Naga and ogres. I don’t know why so many people want them as a race when the majority of people plays HUMANS. Like damn. Tauren and trolls are both super cool and it feels like nobody plays them. Especially on AD. And then people swing with a “BUT I WANT FISH PEOPLE”. Ok, why? You don’t even play the current races, why add more?
Naga/Eredar/Mogu - I’m lumping these three together since they’re all villain races that feasibly could be added (“oh this is a nice set of them like the Rajani or the Illidari!”) but in doing so I think would ruin the racial themes that made people want to play them in the first place. You’d just be wearing their skins but inside be something else entirely.
Ogres - small ogre not cool only big ogre cool but big ogre can’t fit through door and look dumb on horse
Sethrak/Ethereals - Again, lumping these two together. I think that to make them playable (and gear using) they’d have to change so much of the base model that you’d end up in a Nightborne situation very quickly where the NPCs look GREAT and the PCs…don’t. I’d rather keep them looking great.
Don’t mind them so much, but I don’t think they’d ever be plentiful enough to justify a race. (Purposefully doesn’t look at void elves.)
My issue with ogre is more that I just don’t find them appealing or interesting enough to make up a race. They’re whole shtick seems to be “brutish primal race except, here’s the hook, they’re all stupid!” The joke would be milked within the first day, and then we’re stuck with them forevermore.
