What really doomed WoW and Blizzard is devs pride

Let’s be honest that sexual harassment scandal is only a trigger not a reason for many to leave. What really makes players leave is the state of the game and devs being in denial of it. For years they pretend to know better and ignore feedback. They treat us like idiots that they can milk. They even called us the problem and namecalled some of the community members.

Hating on big community players like Reckful, Asmongold or Sodapoppin. Reckful was permanentnly banned in a blink of an eye. It means that someone from Blizzard watched that stream or that they did witch hunting only waiting for a trigger to ban him. Asmon is also hated among them. Rich Campbell was fired for being his friend.

This exodus of players is well deserved. It’s an irony that pride was the strongest of Sha. To fix the game now Blizzard needs to 180 their approach as a lot of players are already invested into FF. They need to make WoW better than it because if it will be as good nobody will quit FF guild. To make it happen Blizzard needs to listen to feedback and give up on agressive monetisation

you do realize 99% of devs have zero say in what gets implemented and even the lead designer has little to say about general direction of the game, right?

if you get an instruction from a guy in a suit saying “extend content as long as possible and keep people subbed”, or “don’t take any chances, just copy past the previous leveling>dungeons>raid meta and maybe throw in an arena” then ion or whoever can’t say “but I wanted open world pvp fortresses and risky pve”

Do you know that this is absolute lie and it’s not that Bobby Kotick calls Ion telling him how WoW has to look like. All these systems and crap we have to deal with now is devs creation. The only thing that might be pushed is extended grind to make more people subbed but the way grinds are implemented and the fact everything is done with a template for 3 expansions is just WoW devs thing. Bobby Kotick didn’t tell them to add covenants, azerite, armors, shards of domination, essences or corruptions. It’s what WoW devs did.

contrary to popular belief the devs are not stupid, and considering there’s hundreds of MMO-s to observe, it’s not rocket science to find solutions to problems regarding world pvp, balance, build diversity, economy, progression…
the problem is each solution comes at the cost of adding aspects to the game that -quite frankly- everybody hates but mostly agree to be necessary for the game to work. grind gating, time gating…RNG… and so on.
wow is missing ones like risk, loss or general difficulty and in all honesty even I would be scared to add any of these to a game where people whine about a nonconsequential kill by another faction member or when someone snatches a herb in front of their nose (this is actually why blizz had to add the despawn delay to flowers).
maybe you’re right, maybe the designers could make radical changes but don’t have the balls. maybe this is the right decision. who knows.
let’s keep bashing and calling them names

You are right.

What some people are saying here and get flack for it is that they don’t care about Blizzard’s problems. These are not player problems, they are Blizzard’s problems and players expect their money’s worth. Is WoW gonna give me free days a few free days cause I had some personal problems and couldn’t play the game for those days? No. Why not? Can’t they understand that I couldn’t play? Sure they can, they just don’t care. A deal is a deal, they keep working, I keep paying. Why should that change when the roles are reversed?

Where I believe you are wrong about this is that it’s not pride or rather not just pride that dooms them. It’s the soulless corporate behavior combined with pride.

Anyway, it does not really matter because Blizzard, the real Blizzard is gone. This game become great when some nerds were shutting themselves in a room and only coming out after completing a game that made history. That’s gone and I don’t think it’s ever coming back.

They aren’t stupid. They just don’t play the game they create and it’s obvious when you see their behaviour. Even Chris Kaleiki admitted that all they play is heroic dungeon during work break or some bg.

As a big fan of WoW (I play since TBC) and Blizzard overall as Diablo II, Starcraft and Warcraft II were my favourite games as a child I always supported them. First sign of disappointment for me was WoD. As I loved the game I became active on forums trying to give good feedback. I saw a lot of players having similar opinion yet nothing happened so I tried to dig deep into this topic. I’ve seen a lot of content creators saying they talked to devs officially and not officially. Some devs said that nothing is going to change because majority think they are always right and smarter than players and that one day players will understand that devs were right and praise them for the wisdom lol. Kaleiki said that multiple times he said that some things are wrong and he usually used content creators to prove his opinion so then they were considered. Otherwise he also was ignored because devs take decisions together and some are really radical and self-confident in their right.

Preach in his last video said that devs are shocked that people hate shards of domination as in their eyes shards are sets. This is the biggest problem - they are not listening as they forgot that they are creating game for us. We have to be satisfied with it not them.

JAB reading this

What these developers don’t seem to understand is that the customer IS the one paying their salary, and paying for them to work on new content. If you had to click your fingers and snap all the customers went away, Blizzard wouldn’t be able to sustain their employees and eventually close their doors.

The developers that have such a disdain for the players that they feel that they have to lash out on Twitter show zero professionalism and should be dealt with by Blizzard accordingly, regardless of their little Twitter bio’s stating “opinions are my own”. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean you can say what you want without repercussions. At least, it shouldn’t.

This is insulting! Devs = Developers people who write the code!!! There are dozen of very very good and passionate professionals working on the game, server side, database, engines, scripts, textures, 3D and many many other folks. They are DEVELOPERS of the game. Stop blaming all of them!!! Just stop. If you would like to argue against certain game mechanic designers, then be very precise here. Most of those wonderful creators of the wow universe are awesome and skillful professionals making industry leading product (still). You are the best example of bad and toxic user base, who don`t even try to understand the development process and blaming all devs, giving them no right or opportunity to respond directly to you. WHAT A SHAME!!! All you angry guys - what the hell are you doing here/!!! Get out!!! Let people do their lovely work, gain money and support their families in current pandemic situation. What the hell are you doing by trying to blame all of them?

I’m only paying to access the servers.

I dono where the whole “My sub money is used to develop new content” mentality came from

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ex dee

That’s the only response I can give you. Sorry but no. This is their excuse for years that not everyone is bad. Praising these good didn’t change anything for years and it means they are meaningless. Also sorry to break your idealistic view but I’m a customer. The only reason they have this job is because someone wants to play and pay for the game. Currently there is huge exodus that happened even before sexual harassment allegations. People don’t want to pay for this crap they release so they have to address it. Player base is not a charity organisation to pay for crap just because there is pandemy and there are few people that have good intentions.

I remind you that I also work and pandemy affect me as much as it affects them. Also defending Blizzard these days is the biggest irony and hypocrisy you can do.

I don’t pay for their passion. I pay for quality product I want to get.

It comes from that we are the source of income. If there weren’t any players WoW wouldn’t generate income but only costs so in fact he is right. You are right now talking about distribution of income. Of course not 100% of it invested in development but basically their salary is part of that income - this is quite obvious.

What about other millions of customers with different opinion? Become a shareholder then or pay more for VIP game development for you only.

Other millions of customers already left the game for FF XIV… According to data WoW has least amount of players at the moment ever since TBC and FF XIV at the moment doesn’t have enough servers to support all players wanting to play the game btw.

If you think I’m the only person disappointed and 99,9% players are happy with state of the game then I’m sorry to burst your bubble you were living in.

And as another customer I dont want you to sit here and blame the developers. I dont want them birn out because of people like you, because they will unable to continue to make this awesome game (world, creatures sounds, other stuff). I want them to stay in a good shape and continue making wonderful things. I`m a customer too.

Address your feedback to Ian, or lead game designer, or lead game mechanics architect … not all, but decision makers.

I want to blame developers because they provide this crap for over 6 years. Also I want to correct your wrong opinion. Devs aren’t coders. They aren’t coding everything themselves.

Game is trash and I don’t want it to be trash any more. Ignoring tons of feedback because devs think they know better etc. I don’t know under what rock you were living for these years. Just read what people who interacted with devs say and what they heard from them. What some devs secretly say about the rest of the team. You must be new to WoW community if you still defend them.

I think that our complaints and blaming are still to soft. We should be way harsher after how they treat us for all these years.

You don’t need to understand how code is writen to know that something is good or bad
you don’t need to eat a worm to know it’s worm
and i don’t need to have full set of shards of domination to know that system is garbage
and he is not toxic
he is frustrated because the product was change into something that a FANbase doesn’t recognize anymore
Did you see Drama around master of the universe??
where kevin completely destroyed the show by killing main character in first 5 minutes
Fanbase is toxic?? because they wanted to see a new stories about he-man
instead they got a SHE-man with a lesbian friend and with a stupid story in 5 episodes.

The only question is will you or [Isheartears] feel good in the same situation. Where you were doing things really good, like your job, but still marked as guilty person just because you`re working on the vendor where executives failed to hear their FANbase?

I don’t work against people
i’m with people and i’m the people
Why people love GGG???
