So, I chose Zandalar Tribe because of more players on that, but I don’t like that this is a PvP-server. Something tells me, that’s Hydraxian Waterlords is better for RP… maybe players are better, I don’t know. Help me, please.
It’s a personal choice more than anything else. If you don’t like that it’s a PvP realm then change now while you still can.
I heard Zandalar Tribe has many of non-RP players because of queues on the start of WoW Classic and the server was an another choice as a PvP-server. Is that truth?
Hydraxian Waterlords.
The downside for some people is that it’s only medium population, so you are not going to be seeing busy zones - Stormwind always seems to be full though. Personally I hate crowded levelling zones, so it’s a benefit for me.
Warning about the economy, in case you are a budding AH tycoon:
The economy is the polar opposite of those mega servers, and far closer to what it was like in Vanilla. Typical Auction House price for a single Black Lotus is around 8-12g. Stonescale Eel sells for around 15g for a stack of 20, Mongoose Elixir sells for around 4g each, 20 Winterfall Firewater sells for around 8g-per-stack. In other words don’t expect to make lots of gold from the AH on raid staples, you absolutely won’t. Having said that with the incoming drums meta in TBC leather is likely to go up a lot in value. For a long while stacks of leather were selling for less than vendor price. This is no longer the case.
RP
Pretty scarce, as is the case on all Classic RP servers. You may stumble upon the odd bit of RP in Stormwind, or gl0dsh1re but I’ve seen very little. Not seen any at all on Horde. It was different when Classic first released, and there were regular events. That seems to have died down completely, and most RP happens in guilds.
Not the greatest endorsement, but I’m happy enough there as it’s still a relaxed environment to level up in, away from all the boost/GDKP/meta/minmax nonsense of the big megaservers. I’ve not personally met a single toxic player, save for the idiot(s) on these forums who briefly rolled there in order to send me abusive whispers for speaking out against the paid boost - and that didn’t last long.
What if I always do RP? Will the players play along with me?
I also want to say that I really like to level up my characters.
Actually yes, a lot will. Not all, but a lot.
I often do it myself when waiting for boats etc.
Hey man, RP in Zandalar Tribe is dead currently probably more to do with it being P6.
the beginning was really good. There is truth to it, with regards to jumping the pvp realm queues. a Guild like Praxis comes to mind. There might be more.
Our heyday for me at least was during the Great Peacebloom Wars of 2020. Self generated RP due to overconfident Alliance. The videos on it are so good
I started on ZT, but as you say, in the early days, ZT was the only PvP server that had a reasonable queue time so a lot of non RPers joined. I had been on an RPPvP server prior to Classic and it quickly brought back all the memories of why i changed to a straight RP sever, so I left and joined HW, and never regretted it.
While there isn’t that much RP going on, a lot of people will reply in character if you act in character, or at the most will just ignore you as opposed to making fun of you. There will be exceptions but they are fortunately rare. If you want to RP particularly then finding an RP guild is probably your best bet as I have a feeling that a lot of it happens in guild not in the open world.
I will say that HW seems far more Alliance orientated than Horde, that might change a bit with TBCC and Blood Elves, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
Oh, thanks!
