What to do when bored?

I don’t wanna give up on this game. I really don´t. How sad it may seem it´s been a big part of my life since vanilla and even though i´m trying. I just can´t find the motivation to do stuff ingame.

I find myself longing for it at work, but when I get home and start playing I just stand there. Maybe queing for some bgs or m+. I would like to feel excited again.

I would maybe like to try out some proffessions, but I heard blizz destroyed it somehow. Never been a proff guy so how do I get started? What do I need to do? What is most profitable and noob-friendly?

What to do if you are bored with everything in WoW? Go play something else until the next big update. Nobody will think any less of you as a fan of the franchise if you do that.

As for professions, it’s as simple as going to the trainer and learning the skills. If you want professions that will be useful though, your only real options right now are Cooking, Fishing, Herbalism, Alchemy and Enchanting. Everything else is completely pointless to level up right now unless you are looking for transmog items.

my suggestions for your boredom are :

1.take a break ( sounds like you play out of habit more than enjoyment)
2.try a different game, seriously there are tons of other good games out there
3.Transmog / mount hunt
4.Join Rp server / see a different style of playing
5.be like me : spend more time on forums ;D

Taking a break helps quite often. I go and play something else for a while from time to time and then come back. When I come back I find this whole game fun again and then the cycle restarts :).

I am not talking about months, for me being away for a week or two usually helps.

Just take a break. Instead of forcing yourself to participate in the content you don’t enjoy, do something else and return when the new patch kicks in.

archeology (pandaria)
Pet battles.
Levelling (but after 10 alts could become annoyin)
and as the guys above wrote…

definitely a break. It works.

You are right. I think a break would be Good. I would like till try alts at 120 so next patch might be Good for that! Anyone that has a tip of another mmo (sorry Blizzard if u see this, don’t think u read forums anymore after all the crap u get)

To me it sounds like you enjoy the game, but struggle to find stuff you want to do.

I’m gonna side with most of the other posters in the topic: Take a break instead of forcing yourself to do activities you don’t enjoy doing in the game out of habit.
Consider this: It is a game. Something you play for leisure on your free time and are supposed to fill you with joy.

If you’re anything like many of the regulars, you’ve probably played this game for a looong time. You’re bound to be fed up now and then. Happens to me too. I can play for hours and hours on end for weeks, only to reach a point where I don’t feel like logging in at all. It’s usually then I take a break for a few days/weeks until I get the urge again. Keeps the game more fresh and enjoyable for me at least.
Also: Don’t fall into the trap that you think you HAVE to do absolutely everything you have available. You don’t HAVE to do all emmissaries on all of your 14 alts. Nor do you HAVE to clear all raid difficulties on all raids with the same 14 chars. Focus on the stuff you want to do.

Again: Take a little break. When you find yourself missing WoW, then you could try to log back in again.
May I suggest waiting at least until 8.1 for example?

Its pretty basic, if you are oversaturated of anything you dont want it anymore.
So dont force yourself to do something, but find something different to do to bring back flavour.

I personally roleplay, takes a lot of stress out of the system most of the time.

Do PvP :stuck_out_tongue:

PvE is boring… You do a few dungeons till you get the best gear and then what? You are fully geared and what is the point of that? To do the same dungeons again and again…

PvP is boring aswell, but its different every time cuz you play against real ppl and not stupid AI who do the same thing every time and you can check your Honorable Kills and Honor Levels in the Armory.

20-29 / 120 lvl PvP is keeping me entertained in this game :stuck_out_tongue: Farming Honorable Kills and Killing Blows with my 20 lvl Starter Edition is fun for me. I love stats so I keep playing to make numbers in my Armory - BG games, HKs, etc.

Also, open https://www.warcraftmounts.com/ and farm some cool mounts, pets or achievements.

I would have to go with the Pet Battle stuff as the easiest thing to keep busy. There are loads of achievements to get and pet battle dungeons to complete. Collecting pets is a lot of work, but the sense of achievement is there. Completing the pet battle dungeon definitely has a sense of achievement. Could be because the basics has been the same for a very long time. BfA also makes getting Polished Pet Charms fairly simple. You can complete all BfA pet battle WQ with 3 x Nexus Whelplings, 3 x Menagerie Custodians or 3 x Ikkys. Menagerie Custodians and Ikkys can be bought on the AH for fairly reasonable prices. The you just need to level them. That will give you more than enough Polished Pet Charms that you can use to buy “Rare” stones and “Leveling” stones. You can also get Polished Pet Charms from the mission board. Some useful pet addons are BattlePetBreedID and PetTracker

Some useful Pet Battle related links:

https://www.warcraftpets.com/

for pets stats, pet breeds and locations.

https://www.wow-petguide.com/

for pet dungeon and WQ strategies.

Role play can also be fun, but you need to have a character on a RP server. The level of the character is not important though so you can make a level 1 and be just fine. RP is all about becoming your character complete with persona and back story. It’s a lot like acting, but you don’t need to deliver a Oscar winning performance every time. Get the XRP role play addon. It is easy to use and adds a new dimension to RP so you can see other players’ back stories and descriptions of themselves.

Just rty some thing you haven’t done before. When I got bored at the end of legion I tried some pvp (random bgs, nothing special), pet battles and old achievements. Had some fun with all of those.

If nothing appeals to you, just take a break till 8.1 or 8.2 even, play some other games.

You could try getting into a Normal or Heroic raiding guild and having a go at that?

Having somewhat the same kind of issue, ish.
I have the urge to log on and do things - and when I finally do log on, I just feel “Meh”.
So I play other things instead, like Jurassic Park atm which I got as an early Xmas gift from my bf.

It’s a very odd feeling tho… 14 years nonstop playing and now I feel “meh”, never really happened before to me.

I guess I might have burnt myself out on Legion and BFA, there just were too much “timegated” stuff - so it became “Do this or it goes away!”-kind of feeling, semi “forcing” me to play at certain hours due to X being up (Be it a WQ for achievement, or Pvp towers, or Mage Tower etc etc…)

I feel like before I could choose when to do anything, now it has all become timed… :frowning:
Maybe that’s just me and my BF tho…
We still like the game, but it’s just… something off.
So taking a break-ish I guess via playing other stuff is what we’re currently doing, we still log on for an hour or such every day (most of the time) and do something but it’s less than ever before.

I’m looking forward to 8.1 with the nerf to EXP needed so I can level alts again without feeling like I am running through Tar that is put on fire. :stuck_out_tongue:
I used to enjoy it, but after the changes I just felt sluggish and like I was running against a force, even with Heirlooms!

So TLDR:
Break-ish, playing other games, waiting for 8.1 EXP nerf for Alt leveling and possibly mount/pet farming again. :3

I hit that wall mid-Legion. After H Nighthold I just lost all motivation to do anything. I took my first break from WoW after 12 years. And it’s funny as I really liked Legion but I ended up missing half of it - I had a year and a half break with no WoW.

I’ve come back now late to BfA and it’s honestly all fresh to me - it’s amazing how quickly the routines and systems you forget. I had to Google how to get to Shattrath the other day - something so simple as remembering where the teleports were had totally left me!

So taking breaks is totally fine - it will all still be here when you get back.

Play PS4 and wait for the next Expansion :joy:

I guess i´m gonna lay WoW on the shelf for a while. A part of me wants to get geared of course, so raiding would be an option. But then again i´m thinking. So what if that makes me geared… Like it doesn´t feel that rewarding anymore. The more I read my own post and your good answers, the more
it´s obvious that I need a break

EDIT: I´ve seen RP on paper, but how does it actually works. Can you pretend pretty much anything? Like your Hoggers older brother seeking revenge as a worgen?

I usually just gank horde or I go play a good game when bored. :sunglasses:

I usually take a break. I mean if I don’t enjoy something I wouldn’t play it. It’s not my job, no one is forcing me to play.
