This! I think they already did this, Dwarf/Dark Iron Dwarf racials are both neat for the upcoming raid. Im wondering how that will play out. Although i doubt it will change a lot. Bigger playerpool will still be more important than a little edge given by racials im afraid.
I would love for the Alliance story to be less about humans and more about other races. And i’d love for the Alliance to stop being in the background. BfA was basically all about Horde, Sylvanas vs Saurfang etc the only role Alliance played in it was Anduin giving his sword to Saurfang. I wish for this to change.
Not sure if I’ve ever commented on this post, so I’mma do it anyway:
Streamline racials to be more of an overall cosmetic feature, so people don’t feel hard pressed to play x-race for an edge.
Put faction changes on sale for a few months to potentially revert some damage done by the inevitable defected players who jumped from alliance to horde cause of player base difference.
Give alliance an appealing race which isn’t a gnome in a mechanical diaper.
Offer more customisation to the lesser represented races of both factions.
Problem might be the people from min/max community.
Here’s a example of Classic played under this philosophy.
A player on the Forums complained a group was asking for a healer, for SM.
He being a Priest, replied.
They told him that they wanted a Shaman, because of Windfury Totem.
He went to do quests, after a hour they were still spamming LFG for a Shaman.
Now how stupid is that ?
Absolutely 0 adaptability.
I just posted this example to illustrate how deep is the min/max problem.
I mean if you are clearing the highest content, sure.
Now, to use to it in lower level content, makes no sense.
How this is related to the Alliance problem ?
Well instead of working to solve a problem, people preferred to avoid it.
Yes you can change faction, but how about moving to a higher populated Alliance realm ?
Merging guilds ?
It’s not like if you transfer to Horde, you won’t have Horde Guilds competing with your guild for recruitment.
Maybe that’s why Blizzard is actively trying to break the min/max culture and prioritize Raids, over Mithic runs.
Is this the right solution ?
Well at least shows that they are aware of the problems.
Cheers.
It’s a mentality problem. Whatever the top 1% does, i must do. Simply.
There are people on the forums that haven’t cleared anything above m10 yet complain about racials, conduits, covenants just because a spreadsheet said so and their favourite guild/streamer is doing this and that.
Will these choices matter to their m10? No, do they care? No
I’m curious, as a horde player, what would you tempt you to switch? And what will force you to switch?
Is there a way you reckon the develops can make this appealing?
Make the blood elves leave the Horde and become high elves again in the Alliance. I think that’d do it.
You can only dream about it you have our reskin as Voidelf’s so enjoy
Why not play both factions?
Oh I personally don’t care at all. I’m fine with whatever.
I was just answering the OP. That change would probably sway plenty of people.
Nah, we’d all go Undead.
Classic is a nice preview of what would happen if Belfs were removed.
If that would force all belf hordies to be faction changed to alliance automatically it would rather cause a massive amount of players quit the game in disgust/rage.
Also ye, thats pretty much a nono at this point given Lor’Themar and Thalyssra being a couple
This.
En masse, for guilds, organized by blizz. And it’s still may be too late.
Seeing most of hte horde’s population is blood elf, i guess that would work, but break everything else.
Giving high elves as an option like they’ve done (i.e. a skin) won’t change anything, giving it as an official option on CC on the void elf screen or an advertised feature…wouldn’t switch hordies alliance, but it would draw some old players back, and entice new players to the alliance, but as the blood elf face is the icon on CC, and they might not know they can be high elves till they click on void elf, - that remains to be seen.
I reckon a combination of things would do it.
You don’t want to diminish the horde, so you have to target building hte allianec instead.
Bring in the cool factor, develop it’s races, especially it’s popular non-human ones, which would be elves and draenei - huge asset in the night elves, void elves and draenei - then the dwarves can be a massive boost for all the non-elf/human crowd if they gained some prominence.
Then in addition throw in free faction change from horde to alliance or at least severely discounted,.
See how that goes. But we’re looking at least 5 years to notice a rebalancing.
Still having your character faction changed without your consent will be met with rage and disgust. Especially if youre being ripped away from non belf friends. Also its dependant how many of these belfs happen to be alts or mains.
Maybe.
Question is, despite these suggestions, if you want to potentially risk playing on a faction that is pretty much extinct rather than play with your current faction that houses the vast vast vast majority of players to begin with. Basically, do you wanna risk playing the guinea pig?
Im fully aware of how dead alliance is, given i was alliance til may. And i sincerely doubt the faction improved whatsoever since then. Rather i would assume the opposite
Ehh, how about no.
Yeah, it would definitely sway me, if they Legolas’d up my Blood Elf it would sway me to cancel my sub. I mean, it would likely lead to greater faction balance, but less players overall. And no, before anyone goes “So you’d quit because you can’t play a ‘pretty’ race?” nope, and that ain’t the reason I main Belf anyway.
But yeah, they’d never force a faction change on people, that would be disastrous and far too contentious. For those that want the LoTR elf fantasy the reskins for Blood Elves will likely sway them, though.
Arent people switching to horde because there are more recruit options on that side? Alliance can be super cool, but i have no clue why people want to switch to alliance when they have their friends on horde.
Joining the Horde.
Yes. The amount of Alliance guilds going Horde is insane. This includes top 300-100ish guilds that do not have the same recruitment issues at all as guilds in the 700-1.5k range.
It seems they wanted to kill off alliance for good when they gave us baby war amputees while horde got vulpera.
