What would you like to see return as part of the new talent system?

What old abilities and modifications would you like to see come back as an option for the new talent systems?

I got really excited when I saw talent trees come back but now after a few days I am a little worried.
Are they just gonna remove a bunch of baseline abilities and ability upgrades and slap them into the talent tree and add the current talents into it resulting in no real change in playstyle options?

So let’s help them, remind them, inspire them by listing old abilities and traits that was really fun but was lost. Artifact traits, Azerite traits, Glyphs, Talents, Tier Set bonuses and Legendaries.

I’ll start for Fury.
I want Cold Steel, Hot Blood back. I wanted this trait to be used instead of the talent Seethe during shadowlands beta but sadly that didnt happen.

Second, to make Execute great again: Juggernaut.

Though this is an old PvP talent I loved it in open world combat and would have loved to have it in PvE Slaughterhouse.

And while this is not a warrior ability I would like to see fury gain something like Acrobatic Strikes due to dual wielding two handed weapons our reach logically should be better than other melee classes.

There are probably more that I can’t remember atm.
There are obviously a few abilities I’d like to see stay from Shadowlands like Condemn etc.
But the reason I picked these is because I would like to see optional playstyles.

CSHB moved the fury’s focus away from Haste to Crit for higher uptime of the dot.
And with Dragon roar now doing 3 times normal damage on crit, it could provide the option for a more crit focused playstyle for those who don’t like the fast-paced style of the current haste focused builds.

I also want a option for an execute build. It’s something I love during raids, you are on the last phase, half the raid are dead, it looks like its gonna be a wipe due to lack of dps but then then execute lights up and you just start slapping the boss and you just barely manage to kill the boss before the enrage.
Or you are dead for that last phase and they decide to spend the last precious combat ress for the sweet sweet execute dps.

What would you want to see for the new talent system?

I’m hoping for major class/spec overhauls and designs. Most specs are uninteresting and repetitive, with the majority following the usual builder spender rotation.

In addition, i’m hoping that they will redesign certain projectile and melee animations and sounds because almost everything that was introduced with the legion client sounds and looks terrible.

Moved the thread to General Discussion from Warrior so other classes can join.

Actual Choice in picking talents, and not to be penalised because I don’t want to pick the current FotM, (I like my hypothermic presence in my Breath build.) not just railroaded into a pathway that Blizzard choose for you.

I agree, I hope they get better at tuning the talents so we dont get dead talents that are fun but undertuned.

I’m pretty sure that a lot of the popular Shadowlands covenant abilities will migrate over to the new talent system. It’s already confirmed that druid’s Convoke the Spirits will get migrated, which I’m very happy about, since I currently main a druid. The Kyrian paladin’s Divine Toll is also one of those amazing covenant abilities that I’d like to see migrated.

I hope that all healers will be able to spec into some damage-focused builds for M+ in 10.0. For example, it looks like druid’s Fury of Elune is moving from a balance-specific talent to a core talent in 10.0, which sounds very promising.

What’s going to happen with Night Fae soul-shapes? It would be cool if they could get migrated to shaman’s ghost wolf form and maybe druid’s travel form. I guess that wouldn’t be a talent, but more of a glyph-like thing.

For Warrior:

  1. [Gladiator Stance]. I want to be able to PvP as prot and actually deal damage.
  2. The old [Flurry] from the classic wow talent tree. The proc that increases attack speed.
  3. [Sword Specialization], [Poleaxe Specialization] and [Mace specialization]. Sword spec was the GOAT. I loved it so much and it made Arms so much fun. The Mace stun effect was fun too.
  4. [Gag Order]; 100% chance to silence target for 3 sec when I hit them with Shield Bash or Heroic Throw.
  5. [Deep Wounds] for all Specializations. And make it actually deal decent damage.
  6. [Second Wind], [Enraged Regeneration] (MoP Version), [Blood Craze]. I want to have passive self-healing again as a warrior. Some decent sustain that makes us viable in 1v1 / 1vX situations. I DON’T WANT TO NEED A HEALER ANYMORE TO BE ABLE TO PLAY. let me play solo, dang it.
  7. Stance Dancing. It was an incredibly unique and interesting feature of our class. Bring it back.
  8. [Die By The Sword] for all specs.
  9. Baseline Storm Bolt. Stop making us pick between having EITHER a stun OR movability. It’s so painful and not fun AT all especially when almost every other class can do everything all at once, yet we can’t.
  10. Bring back the old spell reflect. The one that reflected ALL Spells cast on you for 3 seconds. The version that we currently have is beyond disappointing, boring and just sad.
  11. The Wotlk talent [Damage Shield] in the prot tree.
  12. Baseline Disarm. Seriously, stop making abilities that should be baseline into a talent. just… stop it. Just let me play my class.
  13. [Improved Overpower], because Overpower right now feels pretty bad to use. It’s a boring ability. Also, make it like how it used to be; “The Overpower cannot be blocked, dodged or parried.”

For Shaman:

  1. Make Enhancement able to use two-handed weapons and bring back the old hard-hitting Windfury.
  2. Make Enhancement able to use two-handed weapons and bring back the old hard-hitting Windfury.
  3. Make Enhancement able to use two-handed weapons and bring back the old hard-hitting Windfury.
  4. Make Enhancement able to use two-handed weapons and bring back the old hard-hitting Windfury.
  5. Make Enhancement able to use two-handed weapons and bring back the old hard-hitting Windfury.
  6. See: 1-5.

That’s a lot of great suggestions.
I’d love to try Gladiator Stance, I never tried it but it seems to have been a very well liked playstyle.
And Gag Order would be nice so Heroic throw actually does anything at all.
I also agree with bringing back old spell reflect. So annoying trying to spell reflect a very powerful ability only to have the buff eat a weak spell that happens to reach you first.

2h enhancement needs to see a return, my friend asks every single expansion if its back.

I would be so happy if the holy paladin ability “Eternal Flame” came back to the game. I loved the ability and when they removed it i felt like my holy paladin was never the same!

Since I never experienced the “old system”, I can only say as new player that I want to be able to use whatever weapon my class can use irrelevant to the skill specs.

Let me use 2-hand as Protection Paladin. Let me use 2-hand as DK Frost!

A 2nd pet as BM must of course be an early on choice - or hell maybe even one of those free ones you get when you pick the spec.

Spirit Bond (I’ve just always liked that passive talent in the past).

Overal just some more ‘beast summoning’ talents. I love those. The more beasts I can have out, the better.

Also for survival spec, I’d love to see an option to use dual wielding. That might get me to actually play that spec (at least for an alt anyway).

id like to see less than 5% power difference between the ‘‘power’’ abilities

I would love that.
I liked how in classic we started seeing warrior tanks using dual wield instead of a 1h & shield. As I was a Frost tank in WotLK it almost got me into classic.
As for prot paladin using 2h i think sadly is unlikely.
As for 2-handed Frost DK that was added in shadowlands so you have the option for dual wield or 2h

Yeah I can understand that they went with the spear for the artifact weapon but I feel like we should get dual wielding back for survival.
I still remember leveling my first hunter a night elf, dual wielding [Butcher’s Slicer] and had a black tiger and it looks so damn cool.

As a fellow fury warrior, I agree. I had so much fun with CSHB. also curious about a couple of your talent choices (nothing creepy, I just like looking at other builds). It’s pretty much same as mine except I’ve gone with Victory Rush for the extra Charge over Impending Victory and Cruelty over Frothing Berserker for some reason

Oh don’t mind my current talents  I was farming the Comp Stomp yesterday so I picked the ones for burst AoE and survival

The current iteration of spell reflect was how it was since Burning crusade though. Aside from requiring a stance.

Reflecting all spells for the duration is a legion / bfa iteration and very degenerate game design.

and who takes convoke? u have to choose between convoke and incarnation/tree of life so probably only rdruid gonna take convoke wooow such variaty we alrdy start with 1 less ability into the addon

i expect a new pruning

I’d take ALL this stuff off. It’s useless and it’s thanks to this stuff that the gameplay has gone screwing up.
I’d put back the same basic talents for class / spec and that’s it, as it used to be. No more babysitter powers, no more legendary, no more azerite etc … Yes to the class sets. Yes to the hybrid class.

Oh, for first thing, I’d give Class Trainers to life. They are still in the game, but to get mold!

Absolutely, which is why they are not adding a new borrowed power system this time and instead reworking the talents and going back to talent trees.
However, some of the abilities we got from these borrowed powers were good and could have been a permanent addition to our classes if they had not gone with the borrowed systems.
We got these bad systems instead of new additions and options for our classes and they are now trying to go back to how it used to be.
So now is a good time to revisit what these borrowed power had that were good but in the end was ripped away from us at the end of the expansion.

Is there no ability or modification that you miss and would like to see return as part of the new talent system?
