As someone that likes to min max their character iâm honestly not interesting in checking party members talents, however that is purely when doing guild keys. You bet in an pugging scenario if you dont have kick, stun or optimal aoe/st talent iâll speak up that
Thats why its so great that you can easily swap to different build no matter where you areâŚjust in case you want to do content with elitist jerks!
Personally I pay no attention to how good a talent is, just wether I think it will look cool on my character!
How dare you!
Some player is going to see your talent choices and then need a safe space to recouperate.
Its the illusion lof choice and df will hardly fix ot, we might be looking at the max level of the expansion after df before having some freedom if any, sub optimal choices in wow usually kills rhe class
Or sub optimal choices add to the fun?
Not everything needs to be meta.
ITS AN MMO meta will always exists. Meta only is usefull in myrhic raidibg or high +keys
Just because there is a meta doesnât mean you have to follow it all the time or at all for that matter. I have always used meta builds for progression and pushing keys but have gone with off meta builds for reclears just for funs sake.
Also why do people always go to this argument of all things? We can literally use this to downplay the importance of choice of most aspects of the game and it will hold as much water as this current one. Whats the point of specs if meta exists? Whats the point of classes if meta exists? Whats the point of items if meta exists?
Technically there is always a numerical meta.
But it doesnât mean its the best build for your skill and the way you play
You could well get better performance from a build that suits you better.
^^ This
Something will always be the most efficienct/effective build.
However it gives people choice, they can go with the cookie cutter build that is deemed best, or they can do their own thing, or just vary from the âmetaâ as they see fit.
and than u have so called meta players which dont even know to play that meta build and they are just following meta and just failing ⌠instead that they make talent build which will work best for them
I often run non-meta builds with pugs and never have i ever encountered people, who tried to tell me, that i should change talents/kill myself etc. Dunno where you get those. I do not push high keys though, but got my KSM
Iâd be honestly happy if these âmetaâ builds didnât exist at timesâŚ
That said, I mostly made my own talent trees, focusing on fewer but more important buttons, for the sake of retaining the ease of rotation.
There were of course, exceptions, say, I was talenting extra buttons for MM and Surv hunt because I had so few.
Letâs picture going to a restaurant which has 100 courses /dishes in itâs menu , and the waiter tells u that 5 are the best and u should 100% pick them ? would that be good for you ?
Itâs a simple math , u can choose how to play .
Meta mentality itâs a players issue not a game design issue .
Even if they add 1 damage extra to 1 ability , players will pick that ability .
I personally never played the meta .
Partially because there is content outside of group content where those suboptimal talents speed up your clearing speed more than meta, which is mostly focused on burst cooldowns.
There are also people with disabilities, to whom a simpler rotation helps thrm perform better in the content they want to do.
But most of all because this talent tree is the trade off we have for borrowed power. You can think what you feel about how useful these choices are, but I personally much rather have this with the option to have minor alterations in my spec, rather than to need to grind out 6 different currencies, raise 20 timegated reknown factions, farm materials for 3 different legendaries and also sacrifice a goat on an altar to have one character ready to do instanced content.
This is without taking gearing into account.
Choices encoueage diversity, and even if they may not all be optimal it keeps the feeling of distributing them more engaging to people than to pick one out of three talents from a row (or confusing, but that is why Blizzard added a, default tree to start out with).
Meta is for the top1% cuz that provides the best results if ur a pve/pvp god.
I give a personal example;
Meta pvp for disc had a spell called trinity that increased atonemnt duration and healing output.
Well i tried that in 3v3 and i didnt had a better mouse bk than, my keybinds where alrdy a clusterf and i didnt manage to prevent -recover my teammates fast enough in many games.
So i switched to radiance- insta cast aoe heals( lost alot more mana) but i managed to earn 300 rating. Suited me better
If i was playing at 2400 ofc i would be gimped by not playing meta.
But at 1800-1900 suited me better.
So, conclusion, if ur not going top 1% , play the way it helps overcome ur weakness, uâ ll get better results
I dont know dude, I can play my warlock in 7 different ways and still own. I like it.
Looking at your profile, you dont play high end game pvp or pve, so meta is an empty word for you. You can play whatever you find fun. Its the best thing that could happen for ppl like you.
I remember an anecdote Savagegeese (really decent car reviewer) once told:
He was doing amateur racing and his colleagues were surprised how well he performed and asked him about his carâs setup. He told them it is mostly stock with no special modifications. They were surprised.
He explained to them that if they keep fiddling with setup all the time, trying to find the best possible, they can never learn to get good with ONE setup. So he did that. He used ONE setup and put the effort into getting the best out of it, and that was better than what his colleagues achieved with their focus not on personal skill but technology.
Raid build m+ build world content build pvp build
Iâve had it happen once before way back in Legion by a player that couldnât even play the meta talent build for their spec. They were bottom out of the 3 dps players throughout the whole dungeon.
