What's up with the new party-to-raid system?

How come that when I create a party for a WQ and I invite 3 players, when one of those 3 players suggests I invite his friend (so we become a full 5-man party) the game just decides to convert the 5-man party to a raid?
Isn’t it enough that you decided to change so WQs can’t be done in a raid without actually telling us about it? You have to change the system so we can’t suggest players now without making the group a raid?
Get yourself together, Blizzard. This is pathetic.

You get a pop up asking if you want to convert it to raid. Just tell it no.

How embarrassing. One could call it… pathetic.

Sometimes in tips during loading screen - they mentioned it. “Some quests can’t be completed in raid group”

It was in the patch notes:-

  • Most world quests are no longer completable in a raid group, and Premade Group Finder groups for them will automatically delist upon reaching 5 players. Epic world boss quests are still raid-eligible.

Quoted from:-

And that message pops up after the party is full yes. When I press no on the message it’s supposed to stay as a party, no? Or did they suddenly switch the positions on the options as an early april’s fools?

It depends what you are doing but either you hit ‘okay’ when it says your party is full and has been delisted. Or it pops up saying it’s full do you want to convert to a raid.

Ok cool. The notes explained everything. It’s supposed to automatically delist after a full 5-man party but apparently if someone suggests an invite it tricks the system. But Blizzard just forgot some tweaks so it’s okey, still beta.

You said something happened without them telling the playerbase but you just missed it in the patch notes, that happens it’s no big deal.

There are differences in the way groups work depending on how YOU choose to set them up. Some things are limited to five man groups and if you press on the icon next to the WQ (to set up a group) then it will be limited to five and delist you. That system also autofills in all the relevant information.

If you set up a group of your own manually, give it a title and list it yourself you will be given the option to convert to a raid when there are too many.

If you use an addon that sets groups up for you for world quests, it may be working more like the groups you set up from scratch yourself. I don’t use those addons myself so I can’t comment on how they interact with the Group Finder.

If you really feel it is due to a bug in the game you can use the ‘Submit Bug’ option in game. Esc > Help > Submit Bug.

If you only have the default quest list, only elite quests have this eye-icon next to it. Aka only the quests that can be completed in a raid group.

Sometimes when I use this, groups are still listed with a red 5 in the list. Which means the owner hasn’t converted to raid, but can do so, and so the group doesn’t get unlisted. I don’t know why they are not converted though. If they refused it, chose not to, or simply never saw or understood (?) the option.

I don’t get why this is Blizz’s fault? Do you really want them to fill patch notes with every possible scenario?

Sounds like you’re just going out of your way to find an excuse to be pissed off at them.

I find most of those are five man groups and can’t be completed in raid groups since the patch.

This morning I had to kill a WQ mob twice because the first time the leader converted to raid group and none of us got credit xD.

That must be a bug…? Or a world quest addon adds them?
I only get the eye for elite rare quests.
Only quest addon I run is World Quest List, and I might have disabled any group finder options there might be.

I don’t use a quest addon at all. I never find any need to group up for the regular world quests and I can actually solo most of the bigger boss/rare ones, it’s just faster to have a couple of you to group up.

It was Headhunter Lee’za WQ in Zuldazar that was a raid group and didn’t complete. So I just left group and phased back in to my own shard and did it without grouping.

I’m not playing horde, and cant say I know of this quest you had issues with. If the quest is listed with a golden dragon ring around it, it is completable in a raid. And the reason for why you didn’t is a different one.

But I know that some quests are very sensitive to the area you can be in to get credit. Stand a pixel outside it, and you fail. Also sometimes a mob you attacked gets too many attackers, and so does not flag your tag on it. Typically you can observe this in the azerite mining areas when many people are there.

Edit: And sometimes if I have a quest pre-tracked, it doesnt always load even if I’m at the right spot - even standing on top of the rare. Likely that’s what happend to you?

Nah I literally stood in the same place twice did exactly the same thing, everyone in our group had the same problem, we all left the raid group and rekilled it and got it.

I’m inclined to blame it on the quest failing to properly load into your (and the others) quest log. The quest is currently up as an elite quest - aka a raid quest.

This is an issue that happens to me quite often, and is easy to not notice.
With all the lag I’ve had the last few day… I’m pretty sure this is the case.

I don’t agree but it hardly matters.

I’ve had problems before where quests have issues and you literally have to run out of the area of that quest and back in again to get them to come back up. Glitsches happen. They are hardly worth getting upset about.

Most of those rare type quests don’t require a raid group these days. I have mostly done them in less than five.

I hate the new grouping system too but they told us about it . It’s in the patch notes.

Let’s be real, tho. The “Submit Feedback” and “Submit Bug” options don’t work. They didn’t work in Legion and they still don’t work in BfA.
