What's with the new Dryads?

I love that Frost Nymph model. Unfortunately I think this is the future of Blizz now.
They’ve gone full blow zeolot in their crusade to stamp out anything that can be used by “the cult” to point a finger at them

True, that’s the biggest issue here that you summarised pretty well by mentioning “hard to explain graciousness”. Dryads in their original WoW nature suppose to be quirky, fleeting, playful even childish in their behaviour and demeanour. All vanilla dialogues with them suggest that they’re mischievous forever young creatures, and they were perfectly portrayed by the original art team, no matter how many polygons were used 18 years ago.
The new model while high res doesn’t retain this feeling. They look mature, apathetic and even intimidating. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing in general but it’s not in the right context. There is a big desynchronisation from how they now feel and what they say, that’s why I think artist lose grasp on what each NPC represents and make completely forgettable generalisation.

Same goes for gnolls. While I can see that much effort was put into their detalization, they lost their identity. Good example is the most iconic NPC Hogger now is indistinguishable from the rest of the gnolls roaming around him, and even random elite nearby attracts more visual attention…

Majority people think high resolution = better art. That’s all I was trying to dispute.

Made me laugh.

Look man. We need LGHDTV representation in this game or we won’t make it. Besides, if you played WC3 you know dryads were an aweful, aweful guilty pleasure for dudes, with their sexy mating calls and all that.

You know what I always say? “It’s all Genn’s fault.” He probably does the artwork now and I’m pretty sure he’s bad at drawing furries… I mean dryads.

Thanks Layert

Hmm  I wonder how do they clean number 2? :disappointed::disappointed: my mind sometimes kicks in and I start thinking at the logistic of the races

Maybe they don’t eat at all and survive on photosynthesis? :slightly_smiling_face:
Also a big question how do Naga even perform number 2/number 1?

I’ve looked at this picture for too long to see what exactly bothers me. Some thoughts:

  • Eyes are too close together. Need to be spaced out slightly
  • Eyes possibly need to be a bit wider
  • Jawline is too wide and needs to be tucked in a bit to appear less masculine
  • Slightly higher/more prominent cheekbones
  • Cheeks need to be tucked in slightly too. The face looks too pudgy as it is
  • Shoulders are too droopy. Bring in shoulders and elevate slightly for a more “active” stance
  • Elbows pointing towards the inside instead of outside

As it is now, she looks like her heritage is less of a tree and more of a circle.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the model as a base but I do think that it looks unfinished.
Its like there should have been more appropriate/foresty! hair added and maybe some make up and leafy bits here and there.
Basically its like a centaur model that they ran out of time to finish properly!
