Whats wrong with MoP?

I noticed quite some dare I say hate towards pandas/mop dungeons etc.

I joined around end-WoD/Legion, but my fav place to go has to be Pandaria without contest.

and monks are sick af!

any historians in the forums?

Eh, I think most people who have an issue with MoP don’t like the light-hearted atmosphere. Instead of “cool” dungeons and races, you get pandas, monkeys throwing bananas at each other and lines like “I’m gonna ook you in the dooker”. I personally enjoyed MoP, but not everyone likes that direction.

What do you mean? MoP pvp was great, class design was great. Some silly things as always, but in general, great. Most favored pvp expansion of all.

Fire mage design was out of this world good, and I hope I can play a spec as engaging as that again someday.

I was pretty bad at it back then, so I’ll take your word for it.

b-but this is a video ghayme. with constantly repeated cliches from fking sunday morning children shows with lines s.a.:
-“ugh, someone will stop you”
-“muhahaha im so evil i have no original thought”
-“im so 1 dimensional when there is trouble >> light /w me”
-“with this power i will be unstoppable” > a dungeon later > “i guess ill die”
“heroes” this “heroes” that honestly whattt?

anyway im sorry, didnt want to flame the whole game, but I mean really…with all the cultural references i feel like mop is the most unique breath of fresh air of a place to be in the whole world…of warcraft…

There was a panda hero in wc3 which was also sick af.

Pandas sucks and should be removed from WoW universe.

That is entirely one section of The Jade Forest; a single zone. The expansion had one of the most mature storylines that Warcraft has handled so far; that being, the consequences of a warpath, and the consequence of treating a native land as nothing but resources. The entire expansion was a reflection on how we the players exploited areas for war and conquest without thoughts of the consequences behind it, and watched a very compelling narrative surrounding the Horde and its values.

Sure, it’s childish if you focus wholly on the Hozen and Stormstout Brewery, but you’d also have the ignore 90% of the rest of the expansion (Sha, mantid, Mogu, Old Gods, fleshcrafting, blood magic). MoP is fondly remembered partially because of how strong and mature its narrative was.

This would be like saying Legion was a kids expansion because of the Drogbar spouting “you lift bro?” memes; or saying Vanilla was a kids expansion because it had funny cow men.

Mop wasn’t that bad (not you pandas) except the entire expansion was a marketing ploy to get into china. Basically they wanted a bigger playerbase in china so they created an entire expansion to appeal to people in china and steamrolled over lore to achive this

MoP itself wasnt that bad gameplay wise, but alot of people couldnt stand the heavy chinese and kung fu panda theme

but the zones itself were designed to feel like actual zones, and with plenty of story in it

I didn’t like mop, but that’s entirely subjective. The overall theme of the expansion didn’t sit very well with me, I did not feel at home in Pandaria at all and I felt disjointed from the WoW universe. Just my personal opinions.

I didn’t raid or do dungeons much, but apart from Siege of Orgrimmar lasting way too long, the general consensus seem to be that the raiding wasn’t bad.

pretty much this. it might not have been a bad expansion, but it didnt feel like wow to me.

i have skipped cata and pandaria. cata because i hated everything about it and pandaria because i didnt like the theme at all whatsoever.

going back to pandaria now only reinforces this feeling. its not bad, but still isnt very appealing to me either.

iirc pandarias start wasnt very good so it got a lot of heat from people but eventually somewhat managed to turn it around. but i could remembering wrong.

Dungeons were the worst ever and that’s a fact, and the launch was rough, but everything else was great. One of the best expansions from 5.1 and especially 5.2 onwards.

not all of them but the siege and the gate one are pretty horrible yeah

I you hated dailies oh boy MoP wasn’t for you. Just dailies , dailies and more dailies.

Came a patch too late guess what not only you got the dailies to in mop you got dailies upon dailies to do on the Thundering Isle yay.

what’s this ? New patch , storyline in Krasarang wilds about the horde invasion. Sounds good oh wait MOAR dailies !!

Last patch no dailies , mob grinding instead … yay

Right let’s talk about more grinding that legendary questline oh boy where to start basically mandatory LFR on alts. Not just the last raid of the expansion lfr , every lfr from every raid tier … yay

Why did people dislike MoP there is your answer and suprisingly no it wasn’t Pandaren.

Its amazing the mixed views on MOP.
I played it throughout back then and mostly raided as a holy pally and i absolutely loved it. I loved the theme, dinosaur island, dungeons and raids were all excellent.
Dailies sucked but apart from that was epic expansion.
I see alot of people say they didnt like the kungfu panda theme but i liked it, it made more sense than shadowlands. I look at shadowlands theme and I think “ya what?” for alot of it.

Afaik people cry out for a return to MoP except for all the dailies and those that hate LFR. Something something class balance…

I liked it. :woman_shrugging:t3: not my favourite though.
