Normally Im very much an Alliance fan but even Im wondering what has happened to the Horde this expansion!
We have Gilneas and Tess taking over, Shandris for the Nelves, meanwhile I know Turalyon is keeping Stormwind running and the Gnomes have Gelbin (dwarves Im not too sure…do they have a council now?).
Meanwhile we have the Forsaken Council being quite visible, then Baine also takingn part in DF.
But I honestly cant remember who is in charge of the Trolls and Orcs now!
as for the Goblins…do they even have any leaders? because it seems like they are just squatting in a toxic waste dump in Orgrimmar!
We need some love (and decent storylines!) for the Horde IMO.
I technically know who each of those characters are but the only ones I really care about on a personal preference level are Lor’themar and Thalryssa.
Out of all of them, though, only Thrall arguably has the same ‘weight’ and history as the likes of Anduin and Jaina.
I think that’s ultimately where the problem resides. Alliance players have seen Anduin grow up over the course of every single era of the game so far. There isn’t really an equivalent to that Horde side.
Sylvanas, maybe, but she’s now absent for however long and a very divisive figure.
The council model doesn’t work for either faction, since it’s just an excuse for most of the leaders to just be ‘there’ in the background during meetings.
I’m not always going to like the direction Blizzard take. I hate having Calia in the forsaken let alone on their council. And I dislike ditching the Warchief. It’s an iconic role.
I believe all the Horde leaders are down at their local hipster cafe deciding how to make the Horde even more weaker, before we all become part of the Global Alliance.
This is what happens when the Alliance win the wars. It is enough that they have not dismantled the horde after so many crimes and genocidal wars started by the horde.
Thrall is reluctant Orc leader again, Rokhan is the Troll leader. Trolls had their expansion and Thrall was featured in SL and will be a lead in TWW. Vol’jin the Loa might appear ar some point I guess.
Thalyssra and Lorthremar will obviously be in Midnight. The other allied races well they just get forgotten about. The Goblin leader is now Gazlowe and well he hasn’t done anything since BfA.
Poster who over dramatically posts about “alliance bias” and having the Horde with leaders like Garrosh again, despite maining a Blood Elf who Garrosh would have chopped into tiny pieces due to racism. Whilst normally one should not judge based on avatar, in his case he is also a huge Blood Elf fan and believes they have been given the stick a lot.
wanna bet that lorthremar is going to get killed or will step down in that expansion? He is one of the only old male leaders left besides chris metzens green jesus avatar
is being villain batted a iconic role because thats the only purpose of the warchief if we still had one generic warchief 95892834 would go mad start a war and die …
far more likely the regent lord will step down to spend time with his wife or some bs like that
To be honest, there wasn’t much this character could do in the last two expansions to stand out.
If the Tinker class appears one day, Blizz has to make him evolve. He’s supposed to be an important character, since he’s a founding member of the Horde, as well as the architect of Orgrimmar.
Say their name trice and the forums are flooded with bait within seconds…
I do think they’ve done a poor job with telling the stories about the factions. The Dwarves haven’t had a good story since Cata maybe (when Moira took over) She’s queen as far as I remember (of both Ironforge and Wildhammer?).
Every race should have some story in every expansion. Even if it’s a simple Anduin sends you to Ironforge with a birthday present for Moira and there is some dialogue (maybe a cutscene or cinematic).
A dozen quests can tell a good chunk of lore and quests are probably the easiest content to make as they generally are using existing assetts (NPCs, Locations and ingame features).
Moira is Queen of the Dark Iron through marriage and has the right to be Queen of Ironforge through blood but not the Wildhammer. Thus there is now a council of her, Muradin and whatever the Wildhammer guy’s name is. Her son has the right to be King of both the Dark Irons and Ironforge and she has always been on about him coming of age and bringing people together. They did say recently that he is grown up now so we might see something of him. Certainly something of Magni and the Woonz…
There’s Gallywix as well. Honestly, it’s why I think despite being the punching bags in the setting the Alliance has it better overall. In the vast majority of circumstances if they have lost a leader it has either led to that leader becoming neutral or going out a hero…whereas for the Horde it has been forced into hiding and hit with the villain bat.
