And you got it. Its called Classic? If that walking simulator is your cup of tea. By all means, whom am I to judge what other person does with his free time.
However classic people are extremely protective of their game and any change or movement which even microscopically reminds of retail gets tar&feathered with #NoChanges, #GoBackToRetail. Which I can respect of course. I don’t have to agree with their philosophies but I can respect their want to keep their game as close to 2004 as possible.
Yet your campaigning to make SL=Classic 2.0 and force your philosophy on retail playerbase. So you got your walking simulator go and play it then? Retail peps get their “version” and you get yours. Win=Win?
[/quote] Causing mayhem among computer-controlled people and things may be fun to the Killer, but nothing amounts to the joy of pitting one’s skills against an actual player-controlled opponent. For most, the joy of being a Killer results from a friendly competitive spirit.
For others, it’s more about power and the ability to hurt others or the thrill of the hunt. One such example is “ganking” or “owning”, a process where the Killer takes their strong character to a place where inexperienced or weaker characters reside, and proceeds to kill them repeatedly

This is the wiki description.
The Fiero is a result of the Achiever, Fiero is when you beat an opponent (usually an AI)
This is a tipical fiero moment.
And if you are so obtuse that you think people can’t have different behaviors based of the situation they are into, I can only say KEK
About leveling part. I played retail for the first time since Wrath. In a week of casually playing got to level 35 (higher than my Rogue played for years).
Mount at level 10. Flying at 20(?). Mobs dying in 3 seconds (I play with a friend). Died once all that time. Whole continents become outleveled extremely fast. Azeroth, Outland and Northrend are grey zones already.
Don’t know about late game, but leveling in retail WoW is meaningless and extremely boring. It makes me wanna play Classic again.
again this proves my point with what was specifically said by your alt (i presume because it was the undead i replied to).
of course i understand there are different types of player types, and it is understandable to feel a rush from beating something, whether AI or another person. thats what games are at their core, beating the game or the opponent.
however, ganking, and belittling people not as accomplished as you… no, i dont see where this convo goes beyond that. they are not good traits, nor a good personality to have. and if you try to say they are, then we will continue to disagree, but i think a lot of people would agree with me that you need to take a long hard look in the mirror.
its hard to provide solutions because not everyone will like them. i could say an obvious one, why are pet battles in wow? but there will be a sizeable crowd who will disagree with me and maybe leave the game. i know a very good healer who likes pet battles and collects a lot of pets. if she left, thats one good healer less in the game. and im talking hc raid healer, not “heals on an alt when lvling that alt once a year” type of player like me and healers.
yes they have.
yes, they also have. im no longer barely out of my teens now. i have rent and food and bills to worry about every month. my industry, as as it is, it maybe at its worst for wages ever where in the past it was quite lucrative for untrained staff. also, even just being in your 30’s or 40’s now, its natural to think both ahead of “what is to come” and back about “what i have done wrong / not experienced”. this isn’t something you think of as a 16 or 18 year old.
i agree.
i also agree, but when most content is SPECIFICALLY put for max level, what can you do? also, the alt culture has mainly, imo, come around because of the amount of collectibles. who really needed more than 10 or so alts originally? that was to sample what each class had, but even in reality, lvling was so slow you didn’t try lvl more than a couple alts. now however, people have 50 alts easy. even me, i hit 50 this expansion by accident even though only this rogue is my main and one i do any content on.
not really. they will either, like you say, buy boosts, or they will quit. blizz wont risk this money loss.
while i am agreeing with a lot of what you are saying, im not quite sure what you’re asking for.
you want vanilla, but you have classic.
you dont like flying and portals, but they are a key part of WoW’s most successful period.
you are telling a business to go remove a large part of their playerbase (collectors) at a $ loss.
i already said i agree with you on quite a few of your points, and i also agree that basically everything since WotLK has been lackluster, and pure up rubbish for BfA, and heavily rubbish in SL & legion. but i dont think going back to the vanilla days outright is the right idea.
its pretty vague, but i think you need to go back to WotLK days, with some of the progressive QoL over the years, but without the mandatory chores or wq’s and ap, and MAU/sub based tunnel vision and finance driven choices.
but this wont happen because blizzard is too big now, and is focused on the $ over player satisfaction.
You agree that I want a car that performs a specific function, but you don’t understand why I’d like a new car? I have a 1981 Porsche Locomotive why can’t I just use that?
Good or bad is irrelevant, as long the game allows me to play the way i want, it means that the designer team at Blizzard are fine with having players like me as part of their audience.
Because this is the end are we make games to get $ in return.
So spare your pub philosophy to someone else, as a designer myself it’s incredebly cringe to read it.
and to end this boring discussion here’s a vod that i made with a friend to make fun of a rival guild
No. You have an old car but you refuse the new car cause it has too much QoL improvements. So you demand the manufacturer to throw out power steering, radios, alarms, air conditioning and all other “21st century wonders” and put in the old, fuel eating 1981 engine.
I also remember my first car when you could train your biceps with opening the window and etc with that manual thingy…but those times have changed and I wouln’t demand my current 2015 car to be made as a 1990 one.
Only problem is. If was your personal car. By all means. Gut it to the bones and remove doors and tires if you want to. Unfortunately you demand that the manufacturer change it and force everyone do use that “car” as you want to use it.
see, you are part of the problem. not just in game, but with society at large. based on YOUR own words. i dont care if you ignore me. im not the person.
what is “cringe” is the personal pleasure you take from other peoples misfortune and position on “ladders”.
hmmm i spose this might be the best way to reply.
though, having said that…
i wish we did have manual option to open and close car window still
also while on the nostalgia/rant, it really annoys me that tvs no longer have an off button. at least in the UK. they are all either standby, or unplug.
One big problem with yout really bad analogy. Having parking camera in your car is improvement for your car. Having LFG in MMORPG game is not improvement. If you pur QoL what ulrimately changes core aspect of the game and turns it into something what isnt supostu be than it in fact make game worse.
I knew about couple hundred people in this game in the past from TBC until end of MoP. They played almost daily basis hours and hours. They had fun. After WoD they are all gone.
The reason they are gone is because Classes were ruined and server communities destroyed. There is nothing left. Just chores.
LFG is subjective. 1 player can say its the best thing ever, while the other can say is the worst thing ever.
Subjective again and its also evolution as all things eventually evolve. Phones started out as heavy bricks which you could just make calls and receive messages. A modern phone now? Pretty much a mini-computer in your pocket.
Better or worse? Again subjective. Ask 50 forums peps and you will get 50 answers. And there is no right or wrong answer(well with the exception of course that your own opinion is the right one and everyone around who disagrees are… but thats foruming 101 for you )
there is nothing subjective about it. You like playing mmorpgs games so you know LFG is bad for such games or you dont like playing mmorpgs so you demand changes ala LFG.
i still use a “brick” and prefer it over smart phones. if nothing else, it always gets a laugh when someone suggest i do something which is common place on a smartphone, like use google maps or whatsapp, and i pull out my phone and just say something like “probably not possible”. always gets a laugh
so when matey said “dont you guys have phones”, i could honestly say, no! (at least how he meant, which was phones which can play mobile games).
Unless you can give me some MMORPG agreed standards(with a link of course) which all MMORPG must follow and which specifically says that LFG is completely forbidden and not allowed. I will keep it as your personal view that LFG is not allowed. The classic forum “Its the fact because I SAID SO!”
Designers can always experiment and create new stuff. Is it an improvement or not, again subjective and debatable but there is no law to stop them.
There are an MMORPG agreed standarts. Those are set by very first MMOs released in past., Just like Diablo set starndarts for ARPGs. And if you take these standarts and twist them or straigh up removed them you no longer have MMORPG.
Just look what Blizzard did with HoTS lol. They took very fundamentals aspect what makes moba moba like items, original moba map and its mechanics and turn them into more acessible completly out of place nonsense. Players didnt even called HoTS moba becouse it was completly different game and thats why it also failed.
Modern WoW is not MMORPG. Its dungeon crawl lobby game with multiplayer option.
They pioneered and set up a basic blueprint. But its not a law which you must follow without a peep. Video games are more considered an art or creative thing. Its not a chemistry formula which you need to follow the exact same instructions with the precise down to the mikograms reagent dosages.
Its perfectly normal if not expected that artists eventually try out something new, perhaps make some changes so it doesn’t become stale.
i dont know how you behave. and no, im not trying to say that video games cause more violence before you try use that tired old argument.
your own words on what gives you pleasure gives insight into a strong likely-hood of how you act irl.
this isn’t about your preference on type of game, rpg, fps, rts etc
its not about what class you prefer.
its not about what role you prefer.
this is about you taking pleasure at people not as good as you, and ridiculing them.
like i said, i dont know what you’re like irl. i will never know and we will never know if you’re truthful about being a decent person, but this attitude from your OWN words give insight to a statistically possibility that you are a irl as well as in game.
