Where is in-game quest helper?

We’re reaching Phase 3 of WoTLK Classic and there still isn’t any sign of RDF or the in-game quest helper. I’m aware that RDF was removed due to a classic players whining (what a surprise) but why is the in-game quest helper also not in the game? Surely it’s not that difficult to implement a feature that was previously in the game, and before anybody says to use an addon, there isn’t a single questing addon that is up to the same standard as the in-game quest helper.

It was Blizzard’s decision to not include the random dungeon finder, not the players. And the only people whining about it are those that still want it, you’re the only people that have been whining about it ever.

The only thing Classic players ever said on the subject was “Glad to be away from all this automated crap”.

Well, yeah, Questie is not “to the same standard”, it is significantly better.

I want RDF and I do think some very vocal anti-RDF whiners made Blizzard not add it.

In the recent survey I said I wanted it.

Questie is a better thing than any thing blizzard could come up with.

Just use it.

Don’t forget that Blizzard REMOVED it because they wanted us to socialize to do quests lol.
What a fail again.

1581 dollars.

Clearly you weren’t paying attention in the months leading up to release, there was a loud minority of players who were complaining about RDF and that caused Blizzard to consider the option of not implementing it.

Clearly you weren’t paying attention ever, RDF was a point of contention back in 2019 when Classic was released and Blizzard said even back then that they were unsure whether or not they’d add it in the future.

I think Questie is better than the blizzard quest helper we had in WOTLK, Questie is a resource hog tho, I always turn it off before raids as it was contributing to performance issues.

Which is why they all moved on from Era, lest we forget.

Largely irrelevant (even if questie does have a bunch of annoyances) considering Blizzard walked back their removal of the quest helper and promised it’d be in the game.

Sure, because it’s significantly better to have your map flooded by icons for every mob that have to be slain or looted for the quest item instead of highlighted area of approximate location. Especially for the quest items that drop from every mob in the zone.

Yes and then vocal minority incident happened? The unsure Word is kinda important. Anyway Its actually crazy how delusional people are if they think some dungeons would make people talk to each other. Even m+ in retail didnt do that. Welcome to 2023.

It’s pretty simple to filter/disable anything you don’t like about Questie. I disable the quest tracker, resize the icons, some stuff turned off. Let’s not make this seem like a bigger problem than it is.

And based on the popularity surge of era, I think it’s safe to assume that a lot returned.

There wasn’t a “vocal minority” moment.

Correct, people were very communitive during Classic and even TBC. It was WoTLK’s ‘super-speed’ style of design that wilted the social aspect of the game. Why talk to people when you can do everything yourself.

Sure, but if you are using the addon for already accepted quests as well, not just the location of available quest for your current level, then you wouldn’t disable the icons for quest objective on the map and for that matter the Blizzard Quest Helper is better.
Not only in visuals, but also accuracy because it’s display the location based on internal data directly from the server, while Questie have it’s data based on wowhead database thus instead of approximate location it’s showing each reported location stored in the database as separate icon. This can turn your map into awful mess if the quest item is zone drop.

I never said it’s some critical issue, only that I prefer the Blizzard Quest Helper over the Questie addon.

BTW in case someone didn’t realized, the talk is about this:

There was a survey on that? Whoa… these are generally followed by changes.

I love it so much more! Without it, I’d miss a lot of out of the way quests.

An official survey on both Retail and Classic, I can’t remember every question, sorry. But I do remember one question was about RDF in Wrath.

So it wasn’t a recent survey but more like, an old one at the time the xpac was announced?
