I chose to roll on a PVP realm for Season of Discovery, but later in the phases (specifically Phase 4 & 5) I later got sick of the constant ganking. It would be great, in my opinion, If more people were inclined to play on a PVE realm in the new and fresh Vanilla to TBC progression, rather than going PVP and having either faction gatekeep every instance portal; I feel that it would create a much more pleasant and satisfying fresh experience.
However, I know some people like world PVP and I’d like to know what you guys will be choosing and why?
i usually go alliance but this time i’m going horde on PVE realm

We made a vote , going Horde PVE and we are an Alliance raiding guild on AD
Reasons , everyone played Alliance back in 2019 and don’t want to do Elwynn and Westfall etc all over again. Yes we are aware Paladins are very good and First 2 raids are next door to SW.

Would like to go to PvE because i dont really like world PvP and tired of it, but the only problem is that this server will be low populated and will probably die soon (and blizzard doesn’t open transfers from PvE to PvP in case it dies) - so population for me is the only reason why i will still go on PvP. I think that a lot of people also don’t like PvP but still go on PvP because of the same logic - it’s just more populated, and it’s the only problem with players’ mind here.

That’s a fair point, I am also worried about the low-population on PVE, but since they are only having one PVP and one PVE, it’s a 50/50 choice, so I feel it will be pretty population (I would predict a 60/40 ratio for server-pop)
I am really bad at PVP but I’ll still choose PVP server. Immediately running away when I see player name in red is something I like to do.
If there are are gankers at specific areas, I’ll wait for the least busy time to go there.

Hardcore, but only if it progresses to TBC
Hardcore will not progress to TBC.
I know. That’s why I won’t go there
And just maybe I’m trying to make someone able to do something realise this.
Back in TBC Classic i went with Horde PvP 1st , after a while i got tyred from PvP and more stresfull life there and moved my char to PvE server and lets say even though it felt chill and relaxed it was not the smartest decision because low pop. It was not that bad, but still…On Alliance side though, playing on PvE server was great.
This time i will probably go main on Alliance PvE, and alt on Horde PvE (just for fun, nothing serious) Maybe i would even choose PVP for Horde ,but my friend really doesnt want to play there, so i don’t have other options.
PvE, I’ve always preferred cooperation over competition…

There isn’t a lot of incentive to play on a PVP server unless you enjoy ganking lowbies or your guild of choice has decided to go there and you’re allong for the ride out of necessity. In the end World PvP is just an annoyance for most players, where someone with the advantage inconveniences you, and most of the emmerging gameplay that comes from it is overshadowed by just mindless ganking of random players going about their business.
PVP servers do usually end up with the better guilds tho, so it’s a trade off.

Played on PvE in 2019, but tried PvP server during SoM and when I reached the STV had such a terrible time that I gave up of playing. So I will stay on PvE no matter if my faction is more or less populated. If I want to PvP I will just que for BGs.

Unfortunatly PVP server are not PVP servers they are ganking servers. If there was the occationally PVP when 2 people of the oppostite faction map and a few mass battle now and then it would be fine., but I don’t really appriciate beeing ganked non stop by a lvl 60 in STV, deciding to play on my alt for a while and get CC on him too by another lvl 60. That is not really my idea of fun. So it’s definatly PVE servers for me.

PvP always!
Wpvp is where the game is! And no I’m not talking about the 0,01% of people that are toxic and gank lowbies or corpse camp. But about the vast majority of pvp players that love the thrill of unkown skirmishes, honorable 1v1s and group pvp.
Everyone that says different is a pve Andy and should stay on a pve realm… fact

You are delusional, I played both ally and horde on PVP server, and no matte what, NEVER have anyone intigated a fair fight. Not once in many years. They only attack if they are like 5 lvls higher lvl, in a group or you are low on hp and/or mana from fighting a mob. So yeah, all cowards, afraid of a fair fight.

Either lying or playing another game.
I’ve encountered many cry-people like you, yet 99% of PvP encounters are fun and honorable.
Maybe all those toxic ganking individuals get drawn to victims like urself? U know like the one tiny annoying moth circling around the lamp…
Don’t let a negative experience cloud ur view of the big picture, it leads to a weak mind
Huge if here…
We will most likely end up rolling horde pve. The groups combined preference. But ONLY if Blizzard confirms that all our work will not be trashed at the end of TBC. If they do that again, none of us will join.
There won’t be 2 years of character building from any of us unless we can keep it and keep playing on tbc/wotlk-era servers. We have lost everything too many times on Blizzards servers to fall for it again. And with that in mind, it is extremely unlikely that any of us in my circle will play on offical servers.
Edit: Same thing goes if Blizzard provides no information about what their plans are. If we aren’t sure that our characters are safe, and Im not talking on a Cataclysm->MoP-W/E server, then we will not gamble at all. Two years is a big investment into characters…

Name calling, really? I did that when I was 8, then I matured and stopped. I’m glad you like to be ganked and play on the PVP server, because atleast I will never meet you in game. But you are still wrong about honorable battles. But you are probably like the others and don’t engage in a fair fight and attack people 2 lvls lower that are at half hp and think it’s an honorable fight.
