Who is the lazy looter? (let me skin!)

As a skinner it irritates me when people don’t loot skinnable mobs. I know that i used to have a mod that showed me who the player was that could loot the mob. Anyone know if there is a mod that shows that in classic and can tell me the mod’s name?

Sometimes people have full bags when they kill something, Usually I look to see if the stuff it drops is worth more than the stuff I have and if it isn’t I leave it when I have full bags.

a lot of people don’t loot on purpose because they dont want people to skin the mobs they killed

If that is seriously a thing, not looting so someone else could not skin the mob he killed, then that is one of the most pathetic thing I’ve heard of in an MMORPG.

Some people are so pathetic yet they seem to try and get even more pathetic.

I really hate people who do something they won’t even profit from, just to purely mess with others.

It’s not like you take away something he could make profit from, you are using the trash (trash for him since he can’t skin) he left behind.

I really feel I’m on the fu*king wrong planet or something every time I see someone do something like this eighter in real life or in an MMORPG.

When I was young I remember the company I worked for made us throw out all the food that was still perfectly fine but due to standards non profitable so they could not sell, but no way they gonna feed the homeless or starving people with it or let their workers eat it, no no no, throw it in the trash and destroy it.

Pathetic disgusting a**holes.

This is the planet of the apes and I’m stuck here.
Good thing I have already spent half of my life, only another half left to go if I’m unlucky to die so old.

@Dottie: Pretty much the same thing here.

I do wish there would be some sort of “abandon this corpse” sort of function so I could make specific corpse free for all to loot (and skin, if able).

It is, and it goes back as far as vanilla :D. But yeah, one of those things I’ll never get.

In Everquest mobs would become lootable after a few minutes for anyone. I’ve wondered why the WoW devs didn’t go with that as they implemented quite a lot from EQ. I assume it was a conscious design choice but I don’t understand the reasoning behind it not to keep ffa looting after some time has passed. I thought it was a nice thing.

Inventory is full!

Only time I dont loot is when I want to skin it myself, but theres a skin crazy douche who skins my things after I’ve looted Before I’ve had the chance to skin, so I leave it unlooted just to annoyed the douche.

Well I sometimes don’t loot skinnable mobs on purpose. Especially whan I have a lazy killer behind me skinning my kills. That irritates me. Why? I don’t know, it just does:)

There is. You loot it. So if your bags are full and you can’t pick anything up, it then opens up that corpse’s loot for anyone to loot. You just need to “bend over” and check out the loot of it first.

Been this way since vanilla.

If you’re in a party…

@Pippy: Exactly, I was talking about making unpartied people able to empty “abandoned” corpses.

Pretty sure the “mod” being referred to in the OP, as in the topic of the thread itself, is a function limited to the same group/raid anyway.

No lie, I do it all the time, but not for the reason ye quoted. On my lock/hunter before they had mounts if I was running to a different area I used to Dot/kite mobs while I ran to get xp, they would always die 10-15 yards behind me, and I would never turn around and run back as that would be making travel time even greater. Ya I probably lost a few Boe greens since launch doing this, maybe even a boe blue or two, but it’s just something I used to do to pass the run time.

Share the skins and I will gladly loot every beast with worthless loot table, otherwise why should I waste my time?

When is last time you tipped someone who gave you free skins?

Kinda ironical you are crying about player entitlement.

I’ll be honest, it’s pretty funny to see that skinner circling around the corpse waiting… And it never happens

Just to clarify it a bit since some people go on wildly different tangents.
The Beast in UBRS wasn’t looted, as were a few of the drakes in the Rend fight where we spend more time waiting for the next wave then actually fighting.

The mod that i was asking about just had a tool tip line when you hovered over a non looted corpse it would show who in the group or raid had the loot rights. And to open up the corpse you do not actually have to loot any items from it you just need to look at what it drops after that its open to your group/raid.

That was a truly epic, and gorgeously nihilistic rant.

You deserve a :reminder_ribbon:GRUPP SEAL OF APPROVAL

Of course the mistake you made is that you were clearly holding on to some small slither of faith in humanity… and are thus disappointed when human inevitably turn out to be total and utter brainless morons, intractable, mulish bureaucrats, selfish jerks, or vile, despicable sociopaths.

Time to let that go, and embrace the knowledge that other people largely suck… and will actively go out of their way to make life suck for the tiny handful who do not suck.

In the interests of balance, it might be worthwhile pointing out that there are some limited situations when looting a mob is counterproductive if you happen to be a skinner yourself.

Devilsaur leather is one such example. If you manage to down one, and are all set to loot it… but worried about that other player who has been following you around and is now sticking close to you, then looting is probably a bad idea, as they will swoop in and attempt to steal your skin before you have a chance to skin it yourself. Deliberately refusing to loot is a good way to thwart these ‘skin ninjas’.

Or maybe normal people don’t like freeloaders. It doesn’t matter if you have skinning or not, you killed that mob and it’s loot belongs to you.

You can be a nice person and offer to tip the person who is doing all the work for you.
