Why are BFA consumables still expensive as hell?

What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do in order to justify pots being as expensive as flasks?

Supply and demand.

Potions are prob used more (as a quantity) in raids than flasks, since flasks last longer. So there’s more need for pots. More need = you can higher the prices without losing customers.

Simple :stuck_out_tongue:

AH does not follow rules of supply and demand, but dictates and checks how much gold can be squeezed. Thats all there is to.

Because they cracked down on bots repeatedly during the last few years. Less people using bots = less supply = higher prices.

More supply and less demand; you want to get your stuff sold so you lower the price compared to the rest - right.

But as long as it sells, why would anyone lower the price.

Same amount of herbs for each.

The market kinda dictates the prices.
If people are willing to pay X amounts for an item, people will sell it for that amount.

People are kinda forced to pay those prices to keep raiding if you don’t have a herb alt

No Blood of Sargeras, no garrison herb plots, relatively large amount of materials needed, and M+ increasing the demand are probably the reasons.

They already made it significantly more easy to keep up with gathering professions. Any char up from 110 can just go to the trainer and herb ahead in BFA zones.

Since Herb and Alch are one of the few professions worth having, I don’t see how someone can have not a single char with at least herbalism.

All my chars have at least Mining or Herbalism. If someone thinks the AH prices are too high, this would be the solution. Get herbalism and ask a guildy to make some flasks/pots for you with your herbs if you can’t be bothered fixing Alchemy on the side.

And the highlighted words is another reason why prices can be kept relatively high.

They upped the anchor weed spawns too much imo

I can see m+ pushers using quite a lot potions, but I dont think the large part of the playerbase really does push their keys further than beneficial.

no garrison with free herbs , crazy high amount of herbs needed for both flasks and pots to force people into buying tokens and people generaly cba to collect herbs .

this dictates those prices .

all i can say im glad i dont raid and dont have to worry about neither anymore

I think OP needs a reality check. Flask prices are already lower than at any point in Legion on my server, the battle-potions use a lot of siren’s pollen, which has now become the largest bottleneck for alchemists, so they will never be a couple of gold each, but they too have crashed in price.

I’d say prices need to go up, not down. Running around on my herb/mining character now makes me around 1 Euro an hour in gold equivalent, don’t think many people would work their jobs for that irl. It is currently not sustainable to farm mats for gold for somebody that isn’t multiboxing with 5+ druids, which is sad. Don’t see this changing as it stimulates token sales.

If you want to do endgame content, you have to pay the price, always been this way (good luck in Classic, where you have to farm 2 or 3 days to have what you need to participate in 1 raid).

There is no easy way to get herbs, you need to go and farm them. It takes time, a lot of time. Especially when there is still no flying.

And potion recipes need a lot of herbs to craft, just compare it to past recipes.

Potions are expensive because you’re paying for someones time spent picking up herbs while you were doing something probably more interesting.

Because they’re stupidly expensive to make.

Even at the best level, a single pot costs ~18 materials. Each node gives you ~4. 20 players need 50 in an average raid night. Assuming a 50% procrate when crafting them (this is the default), that’s approximately 9000 materials, or 2250 nodes.

It’s actually ridiculous.

No really it isnt ,its the stupid amount of herbs needed per potion that what makes it hight not demand at all because hardly anyone buys them .They are one of the slowest selllers on the 3 servers im on and 2 of them are pretty big servers.

You can always farm yourself.
Rank 3 recipes are locked behind rep.
Material costs are absurd.

Mhm, well what is much? A r3 potion costs about 14-18 herbs. While running to a dungeon entrance I usually pick up more than that already.

And making one even has a chance to create multiple potions at once.

They are expensive because most people can’t be bothered with proffesions due to the whole crappy rank 1 2 3 system they added in legion.

Even if you level it to max you still got to buy the rank 2 and 3 recipes for 1500 g at revered/exalted or even worse paragon chests having certain rank 3 recipes.

They are expensive because only a hand full of people bother to level it on servers
