I’ve noticed that a lot of people on the forums are getting flagged and mass reported without legitimate reasons. Just scroll a little through the latest posts and you will most likely find someone flagged for no apparent reason.
Same goes for comments on posts, i constantly see people flagged when tjey said some very normal statement…
I’ve no idea but also noticed that there had been a big increase in uneeded flags recently too. Most of the threads/posts had nothing wrong with them, even saw an MVP targetted in one thread.
Ah yes I saw this morning that I’d been flagged by the community then unflagged by a moderator this morning.
Ironically that was also a comment about it being a shame that some people seem to be flagging comments purely because they don’t like them.
If a post is flagged and buried I usually expect it to be a rule breaking one, the most common reasons are usually masked swearing, personal attacks etc.
I think the few bad apples false flagging need to have their flagging rights revoked until they can act like normal adults. This forum is an absolute clown show sometimes…
Still not a good reason.
I’m always providing real arguments and engaging with everyone in a constructive and polite fashion.
I’m just back from a 1 month ban because I said that PvP would be a better time investment than PvE, since it requires less maintenance to remain engaging.
Well I imagine it’s a spill over from Reddit behaviour.
You essentially have a “Like” and “Dislike” button, if enough people dislike the comment, then it becomes hidden. Where as the WoW Forums don’t have this. So the closest they have to a “Dislike” is to Flag it.
The thing is, it’s heavily abused on Reddit, and it’s not really a place to have a real discussion. Just a load of toxic clowns with no in-game friends who want to show off their latest mount drop.
Thinking someone is trolling IS a reason.
You might not agree with it, but that’s neither here nor there.
It’s then up to the moderator(s) to decide whether the flag was warranted or not.
And honestly; if you get multiple flags, that means multiple people think you’re trolling. That says something, right?
Of course there are people who abuse the system and flag more than once themselves. They deserve bans. Multiple times breaking this rule: Permanent ban. Imo. Because, yes, that kind of behaviour is problematic.
It’s lacking the context in which it was posted. That can change how its perceived.
They lifted one ban this year. I didn’t try to appeal this one.
I can acknowledge when a ban is warranted, you know. There have definitely been time where I thought: “Lol, okay, I got this one coming” but this year it’s different.
People just flag all my threads and sometimes it screws me over for no valid reason.
It’s just as I described.
I said that PvE requires a constant flow of new content every season because people get bored of their 8 new dungeons, whereas PvP can sustain itself on the same handful of maps and has done so for 20 years. I concluded that PvP would be a more efficient investment of Blizzard’s time.
Banned.
That’s not what Tah said, and I’ve had enough discussions with them, I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to tell you that the vast majority of my unpopular opinions are genuine.
But that’s a clear fallacy.
Because the PvP crowd is a minority. Without proper PvE support through regular new content, the game would no longer be viable as a source of income for Blizzard.
So I don’t fault anyone for just seeing such a thing as trolling.
I personally wouldn’t have flagged it, but I don’t actually fault anyone who would.
And if you got banned for it, that means a moderator agreed with those people.
People don’t agree on everything and some people really want to tell you how stupid they think you are but are not allowed to due to the Code of Conduct of the forums.
So People were used to to have Dislike Buttons (which got gladly removed) that were used by them to express their disagreement.
Since there is no dislike button anymore, they (a small minority!) abuse the Report-Feature to get rid of opinions and thoughts they disagree with or can’t handle.
