Why are people so angry all the time?

Why are people so angry and hostile in this game all the time? They are always asking for kicking this or kicking that. And if you don’t kick as they ask, you are a bad RL.

I can apprieciate that BoD is still new to many and I am also for progression and learning as I run pugs. But just remember that there’s a real person behind that shiny plate armor or cool transmog you see in game, and kicking can hurt.

I must admit I do kick people sometimes but that’s more for their attitude rather than failing at mechanics.

I think the general mentality has just become so toxic and hostile. Have people forgotten that this is a game and this is for fun?

Pretty much.

It’s not so fun endlessly wiping on the same boss because poeple can’t do tactics or the damage though.

I mean I tend to have far more fun with my guild than a pug.

It’s not efficient to be nice or helpful to others sadly. Everybody is in a rush for everything. I really feel like a lot of people don’t play for fun, it’s all just about gear and rewards.

I’ve avoided group content a lot lately because I find the general atmosphere of group content to not be that great anymore. People have no patience for anything. It was nicer when I started playing in MoP.

Before signing up to a pug, you should already know it is not going to be a walk in the park. Also as it is being a pug, it doesn’t give you or anyone the rights to treat the people that pug with less respect as you would with the people in your guild.

Anyway I think I have much better progression in my pugs than many guilds. Mistakes made, mistakes learned. Wipe and learn, and we kill.

Probably because there is so much to grind that makes this game almost like a second job instead of fun and they get impatient with people that they consider wasting their time

Exactly. If they don’t get the kill fast, they get angry. For what, exactly?

Sometimes there are people that just don’t play well - that’s ok for me because when signed up for pugging, I knew this could happen.
Life ain’t a ponyfarm.

I see the game for what it is entertainment. Do I act like everyone has to entertain me? No, the game has to.

Also I don’t like people who see bad players as a burden and complain about it.
Just go with your guildies and don’t sign up for pugs.

I like pugs - because even drama is entertaining for me, especially because I’m playing well and it’s fun to show “pro” players that they’re not a glimpse better than the “bad” players.

I have no idea. I’ve never been that bothered by gear in general. When I used to progress in raids I was mostly just happy to be included in something, I didn’t care how long it took as long as the people I was doing it with were patient and courteous to each other.

It’s like wiping on a boss is the end of the world to some people.

From my experience, most of them are not playing well simply because they are not familiar with the mechanics in the encounter yet.

I spent four hours in pugs on just Jaina normal last reset. It was not fun. I honestly did not expect it to be that hard to find a competent group. Our guild run the week before did it in a few pulls.

It’s not toxic to remove people who are underperforming, repeatedly making mistakes or simply wont listen to instruction. It is no different in guild groups either, if they are the one who can’t do the necessary after numerous chances then they will be asked to sit.

:joy:

Yeah, I would rather have a happy fun wipefest than a fast kill with everyone being at each other’s throat.

I would just tell them I’ve no time left (which would be most probably the truth) and leave politely.

removing someone instead of trying at least to explain stuff would be unethical to me given I have the time. but yeah some would not just listen  (then see solution above)

Impatience from new or lazy players not willing to learn, adapt or practice in their own time to be on par with players of similar item level causes frustration which leads to this -

I don’t trust most randoms as people who are x-geared still prove to be useless or expecting of a carry/there to simply leech most of the time real person or not at the end of the day everybody pays the same, so if somebody cant perform even enough to just down a boss then why keep them.

Getting kicked 9/10 times is your own fault as the player being kicked, if you get it done and play well like expected then you’ll never run into the problem to begin with.

Its just the casual attitude of I want to do higher than LFR but I don’t want to try. And then they proceed to get angry when the LFR mentality bites back with people growing tired of the half-arsed effort which leads to x-forum post of how this community is toxic.

It wasn’t four hours in one go. But we were in five or six different pugs and four hours were spent on just Jaina. We spent far less time doing the entire rest of the raid.

It was horrendous but we got it down. Eventually we got into a pug where they’d been kicking the underperformers and myself and my two guildmates were the replacements. Three pulls and it was dead. It’s just a shame we didn’t find them earlier.

However, there is no anger. Removing people is not toxic, nor is replacing those you’ve lost. The goal is to get it down.

There was a bit of anger at one mage who could not stop timewarping at the wrong time in the fight for five or six wipes at which point the lead yelled in capital letters at him to stop. He’d been asked and told every time in a nice polite manner. He apologised and didn’t do it again. xD

A lot of people are pissed off in general because they make WoW their second job.

It’s a chore first

I’d say game second, but more game dead last to them.

You notice the correlation between one trying more competitive with/and stress levels go hand-in-hand.

At that point, it mimics an addiction that self-worth is only maintained so long as everything goes perfect, otherwise they will lash out. Some even cheat to never let that high go down, it’s sad.

It’s not just about wiping either. People wipe once and blame this and that and ask for kicks. It happens quite often in raids. sometimes, they don’t even wipe at all. Someone dealing less damage than the rest, and then screams of another guy calling for kick happens.

No, but Blizzard has.

Can we please for the love of god stop to use the word “toxic” wrongly?

Kicking someone for continuously failing a mechanic that is explained on many different sources is -NOT- toxic.

People getting angry and frustrated when they spend 1 hour on 1 boss in LFR having a wipefest is -NOT- toxic.

I know, I know, it’s 2019 and everyone needs their cotton safespace, but this is not LFR/Pugs. If you’re really that ‘disabled’ (And I mean it in either lacking the mental or motorical skills) to propperly do your research, play the game efficiently or what not, according to Activision Blizzard there’s a TON of guilds that actually progress Normal mode… might be worth looking for one of those.

In a 25 man lfr/pug scenario, you aren’t the only one, there’s also 24 other people that invest their time/sanity into it.

WARNING - UNPOPULAR OPINION: If you’re wasting 24 people’s time by either incompetence or unwillingness to put in effort it is ‘YOU’ who are toxic.

My 2 cents, my opinion.
