Why are the official Forum so dead?

Esp class fora have maybe 10 msg within 15 days and the rest are going much older.

Its wierd for a game of the magnitude of WoW.

Why do you think it is so?

Just not that many people playing right now I think. A lot of people left. A lot of people are just waiting for 9.2.

And when it comes to the class forums, most of the class discussions have moved to discord.

Only General Discussion, TBC Classic and SoM subforums are really active. A couple new player questions left and right, generally handled by a kind mod and/or Gráinne.

You dont realise there are not a lot of people playing retail wow anymore? There’s a reason they dont announce sub count anymore. Its max 1 mil worldwide

Off the top of my head…

  1. People take themselves way too seriously

  2. Players that make posts declaring their love of gnomes or posts in that vein, those players are the Target Audience.

  3. Too many Rules.

Forums will continue to die, you can’t micro-manage fun.

Because this forum is an awful place so why would 99% of the player base even engage with it?

Remember that WoW’s population is spread over many regions,

Plus… not everyone posts on the forms.

Those players should be banned!

That’s not true met many friends who i still in some way or form communicate with nowadays.

not only is the population spread over many regions but, not sure if anyone else got their very own forum but theres also an entire german wow forum. not sure if spanish speaking ones have their own as well, at least i dont know it off the top of my head.

this forum is pretty much only for english speaking people. so if you dont speak english or dont want to and you have your own forum in your native language then…why even bother joining here.
guess thats another disadvantage to the us forum.

Because nothing that we suggest, discuss, complain or just write about on these forums is actually being used by Blizzard to improve the game.

People are tired of it, so the forums are much, much more inactive than they used to be.

Talking to a brick wall is pointless, after all.

advertising off-wow sites should be banned. wow has in-game chat, in-game offline chat (wow app for guild/community) and ingame voice chat

Unfortunately the community-feature is still really lacking usability :frowning: There are multiple communities who had to move from ingame to discord because it that.

For class forums: Most people tend to use the class discords rather than the class forums. The DK discord is much much much more alive than the DK forums at least. And I get that: instant communication and not separated by regions. No need to use the forums

Partially, discord moved a lot of discussion off the site.
