Why are you so against things being account wide?

Blizzard: Implements systems and or rep grind that is needed to minmaxing your character.
Players: Please make this account wide. I dont want do to it on my alts aswell
Blizzard: How about no
Players: WOW IS DEAD
Blizzard: Venari rep is now account wide
Players: Cya next expansion

So what do you want to do on your alt, just jump straight into M+ I guess.

Remember when playing an alt would mean… playing an alt.

Yeah playing not doing WQs for conduits.

Back in the day when you hit max level you could for example spam BGs get some gear and be ready to perhaps do arenas

I am against all account-wide things because right now, in order to get a fresh experience in the game, I need to buy it again.

The fresh experience in an MMO is valuable, even if it’s just for the sake of leveling a character.

I’ll be more accepting of account-wide things if first we get a simple toggle on character creation. “Make a fresh character” - this disables ALL account-wide things on that character, so you can get a good, clean experience. Like starting The Witcher 3 over.

Playing an alt must mean playing an alt. The problem isn’t that systems aren’t account-wide. The problem is that these systems exist in the first place.

There would be no need for account wide things ,if unnecessary things did not exist in first place.

Remove Alting, add one-character progression :man_shrugging:

Honestly I would hope they changed the soul bind tag on everything into account bound. But we are so used to having our time spat on and our effort diminished that people are actually against that.

Are the people replying here seriously saying they don’t want to make things account wide?

Skimming through…
it reads as if they’re saying they want everyone to go through the same masochistic grind of alts they too did like a badge of honor.

Geez, that’s demented.

I remember it, and for many expansions it was fun.
Running HC dungeons for first equip, or crafting PvP gear and jumping into casual rnd BGs to work for better items was fun.

Doing dailies for rep was fun, because often you were exalted with your main and stoped doing them with him. More or less dissapeared with the WQ system.

Some things that were more annoying like AP (or MoP/WoD Legendary quest) atleast had a catch-up, because again grinding it for many weeks again wouldn’t be enjoyable.

And that’s the point: if activities are fun, don’t feel repetetive, or have some mechanic making them at least faster, less players would probably ask for making them account wide.
To name a recent example: if the maw wasn’t such an unpleasing daily zone and sockets/conduilt upgrades would have cost anima instead of stygia that you still had to farm with your main, there wouldn’t have been so many asking for account wide rep with Venari.

When I play an alt I want to experience the good things again with another chara and not just do the annoying, but to a certain point necessary things with some of them I’m still doing on my main.

There’s playing an alt and going through a bunch of hoops before you can even start.

That would be so nice
Just get to max level and jump into dungeons without having to jump through arbitrary hoops and participation metric driven content
You know, how things worked for the absolute vast majority of wows lifetime

That’s the dream, I dabbled on a 2nd account in Legion but then I got to WoD and Legion and could not stomach doing pathfinder again.

It’s possible to have Account Bound items for catch-up that can be sent to alts (or not if you wish to replay it).
But they are alway hesitant to introduce these and when they do it’s halfassed at best.
I’m trying to do the Order Hall campaign on my priest and there is a follower mission required (a tough one that needs leveled / gears followers). There is a BoA Nethershard item that ups follower power to 880 but the item for follower xp is not account bound. This is just illogical. The thought of spending weeks doing follower missions (or nethershard farming) is intediating…

Faction quartermasters (even if only for legacy content) should sell recipes and similar as BoA. Farming a faction just for a recipe to make a transmog piece is not fun. This means that you can still refarm that rep if you want but that for those that don’t enjoy rep farming they still get the recipe (if at least one character has done the grind).

Yeah, that is my absolute biggest issue with wow.

Coming from FFXIV and it’s very alt friendly systems. WoW is just horrible.
I can’t even get myself to do the maw intro quest. Or do the shaping fates stuff.

So my alts are rotting. The beauty of FFXIV is switch job. Keep all your progression on your character. Story progression. Currencies everything. Buy some lvl appropiate armor and continue.

In WoW you’re almost starting from zero and have to slug through tons quests. And other stuff to catch up.

It’s just such an old pointless system.

This week I was hoping that with renown 61 I could buy the item to unlock Korthia rank 5 upgrades and that it would go account wide.

Joke was on me, Blizzard have kept those upgrades character bound so if I wanted to run more toons in Korthia I would need to codex 6 plus renown 61 each one of them. Hard pass.

These limitations could be removed easily, but they keep on insisting that their game be alt-hostile.

It’s like: "I heard you like our game enough to play it on more than one character?! Haha, we’re going to do our best to stop you from playing on more than one character!"

Whaaaaaaaaaat?!

They are doing this to get the people that are still playing to re-sub. Basically playing for time until they can decide how to address that issues WoW retail has right now. My guess is the new PTR has something to do with that.

They might be out to build a new game engine (WoW 2.0) from the ground up that can run all WoW content from Classic trough to Shadowlands utilizing their current database structure and graphics just a barebone basic system stripped of all added-on leeching systems like artifact power systems, azerite power systems, conduits, corruptions etc.

They already have a running classic servers and it would be easy to test the two engines side by side so you can see the differences between the new engine and the old one. Once you have it running Classic and Classic TBC smoothly on a new engine they can move on to retail and use the current leveling selection experience to gauge the rest of the retail content on the new engine. Then release a whole new WoW 2.0 engine in 10.0.

That’s asking the wrong question.

The reasons why I would not even try to optimmally play an off spec are systems.

Because I would have to upgrade conduits once again. Where I am now, upgrading all of my conduits would cost me 3k * 13 = 39k, which is worth one month of korthia. Knowing I did just spend 36k to upgrade all my conduits for my main spec, I felt like an idiot when I upgraded 9.1 brand new useless conduits up to 252 (Yes, condensed anima is kinda useless to me) and I’m actually playing more than 2 hours per day. The reputation grind has been tedious on 1 single char so doing such process on another char would not be fun.

And I’m not even talking aboot grinding renown and legendaries with sockets once again.

Blizzard promised us that SL would be an alt friendly expansion, which ended up as an unfulfilled promised, which is why I would want more account wide things, ie : NO MORE SYSTEM.

As per title; I have no clue why Blizzard is against it.
But I know why I am against it:

I think there should be an ‘alt tax’. I don’t think the best and most optimized way to play this game should be to roll a plethora of characters and get them all up and running almost instantly.

Things being ‘Alt friendlier’ is one thing, but it should NEVER be THE way to play the game, imo.

Tbh over the course i wonder if that was ever stated to begin with. I think some people thought it looked alt friendly and spew that around and then it was taken as gospel.

Also some designs are just questionable. Like the Stygia upgrade unlock not being account wide (and THAT is a catch up. Anyone who reached the required Tier is already way past the ilvl the stygia ugrades provide) or to bar it behind Renown again.
