For 20 years, players have been waiting for the High Elves and the Amanis, two of Warcraft’s most iconic races and surely the most eagerly awaited.
For Midnight, it was obvious to me that we would have these two races for Midnight, as Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman have both been revamped, with the Aman’i getting a new model.
You might say, “The High Elves already have them with the customizations on the Void Elves and Blood Elves,” but that’s not a reason. It’s like saying that the Darkirons shouldn’t have been released, since the dwarves already had dark skins as a customization option, or that the Highmountain Tauren shouldn’t have been created either, since they’re just normal Tauren with different horns.
With this reasoning, we could remove quite a few races or question the relevance of each one. But that’s not what I want, on the contrary. I am convinced that World of Warcraft would benefit from adding new and varied races with passive and active abilities that make them fun or enjoyable to play, while allowing for race/class combinations that we don’t yet have (for example, High Elves in the Alliance would allow for Elf Paladins, which are only available on the Horde side).
But beyond gameplay, it would mainly allow the High Elves to break out of their secondary role. We see them in quite a few expansions helping the Alliance or participating in the story, and after all this time, it would be a good idea to bring them out, first of all so that we can finally have a representation of an iconic Alliance race, and simply to add variety, because more races are a good thing.
Now that I’ve talked about the High Elves, I’ll turn to the Aman’i. Although the Aman’i have turned their backs on the Horde, we have the Vengebroche tribe, which is still loyal to Zul’jin and the Horde. Also, we’re going to help the Amanis of Zul’Aman during Midnight, which would give the Amanis a second “reason” to join the Horde, a race that, I remind you, is highly anticipated by players, as they are Trolls different from the Darkspear and Zandalaris.
They are muscular, their designs make many players drool, and such a massive race in the Horde would allow players to play something other than an Orc or a Tauren.
This would make up for the wrongs done by BC with this absurd quest where you have to kill Zul’Jin and the entire Amani tribe for a character who was meant to be comical, Budd Nedreck (Nedreck being inspired by the word Redneck, a term that is insulting to some people in the US), and who ultimately has contributed nothing to the universe to date. Although this has been corrected today, the new reason for the extermination of this tribe is a reversal of the Amanis towards the Horde, which makes no more sense.
In short, the Amanis should never have been removed from the Horde in the first place, let alone killed for obscure reasons.
For Blizzard and the players, it would be a win-win situation. it would show that Blizzard is listening to its players after all this time, satisfying veteran players or attracting the attention of former players who would like to play the Warcraft races they loved so much, allowing RP players to have very special races, Transmo fans to create new sets, and achievement hunters to have new goals.
That’s it, thanks for reading this far, and see you soon in Azeroth!
