Yeah sure. Catch up gear isn’t for 440+ ilvl chars. That’s obvious.
In the meantime my dps alt is now 427 and very close to KSM

The story is the part that I look forward to. I’m already locked on the Centaur Sojourner due to 2 Nokud quests and on some other campaign due to halls of infusion quest. My quest log will be full of dungeon quests soon and I’ll have seen only half the story.

at this point a returning player should be able to get one char. to 430 ilvl in a few days with just the event . if you make people start grinding from +5-+6 keys then what’s the point of catch up… last month in the patch and still get 424 gear from rifts etc.
and you only get that if you grind it out afterwards. Also you only get 1 pcs per week from rifts and 1 from surge as far as i can see
I don’t think Blizzard can win, either they give casuals content that will last them several weeks. Or they let them do it all in one day and then they complain there is nothing left to do.

There’s a half way point there. It doesn’t need to be either extreme.
But; since we’re at the end of the season, why not make it fast?
At the start of a season I complete understand limiting it.

Almost done replacing all items on one alt + tons of tokens in bag for other armor types.
Not sure why we cant to get trinkets tho.

exactly. you get catch up gear from m+ faster than catch up events lol
and then there are people defending this just like they defend everything giving 430 gear to returning players in last month won’t take anything away from others. if you say ‘‘but we worked too hard in last 5 months’’ then welcome to the hell called seasonal content, your gear will be trash in a month anyway.

It is called catch up because
When you start right now people will req minimum ILVL be at least around 405 for a normal raid
So this is why it’s called catch up so you can easy get 400+ gear so you can easily go into current raid without having to farm dungeons for a HC m0 gear or whatever

True, but anybody who’s halfway serious about playing a character has had 424 gear for at least a month, so we end up with… another catch-up to the exact same level as the previous patch’s catch-up gear?

I thought it was champion gear this time, which goes up to 437?
And obviously everyone who is seriously playing his char for a longer time does not need catch-up gear in the first place.
and what u need for 424 gear simply go and play character and u will be 437 easy
That’s the crux of the matter: “Goes up to 437”, but getting those wyrm crests to get the gear past 424 is a pain for the people who don’t have better gear from different sources (Mythic+ or raiding) already by this point.
The people who have a pile of Wyrm crests don’t need Champion catch-up gear anymore.
Catch-up gear is for chars you haven’t really played yet. At least champion starts at 415 instead of 402.
I think there is quite a range between one day and what it is now (for open world players). With one piece from Rifts and one from Surge) and 16~ slots that 8 weeks or so. And that’s just to acquire the items, then you need to get all the crests and flghtstones. Whelps are readily available in open world content but Drakes are still too few.
To me a month to 6 weeks of moderate open world play ought to get you 424. But maybe I’m just too lazy or something.
Perhaps I should start LFR again (I gave up after Legion, long queues, redoing the same bosses with half done instances, not to mention the mazes in Nighthold et al).
There’s at the very least 2 months more considering 10.2 isn’t on the ptr yet.
Ye. When all of this 2 months farm will be meaningless because next Version of veteran gear will be 437. So np point wasting time farming now

Euhm no its actaully catch up gear, u can littarly spam it whole day, i mean ofc u can only have 1 437 item but the one u can buy is 424 ilvl
