Uptoo Wod I would say , guilds was an active hub of things to do with fellow players.
Now , it’s just anyone up for a key ? Anyone want to do my key ? What keys do you have ? Sorry doing a key ?
Log onto discord , sorry can’t talk doing a key.
What happened to the good old times when people were like , anyone wanna do lfr Queuing up. I’m about to go do my dailies anyone join ?
Guild events like , doing meta achievement runs , doing guild runs for weekly events. Heck even gold farms was a thing. Rare pet farms. Let’s go spend and afternoon getting a mount or tmog together.
What happened to that diversity ? It’s just keys keys keys and more keys … every guild i’m in or join. Why did the playerbase decide mythic + is the only content in WoW outside of raiding ? Oo . I suggest you download All The Things , and look how much content your missing. Players just seemed more completionist in the past =[

Because everything outside of Keys and raiding you’re better off doing alone usually.
For thing like meta achivements there are communities - as I’ve been told. Keys are the one thing that is quickly done and doesn’t need much coordination, but this has some pers doing it with ppl you know (as from the guild).
Oh, and the guild perks were taken away. In the past we had a guild system encouraging doing dungeons / raids together to get rewards, they cut that out.

That’s why I’m not in a random guild anymore. I don’t do M+ and it’s awkward for me and for them to never have something to do together. It’s sad but it is how it is

Audience is getting older and has less time to put into a game to go off and do random things.
Personally I get maybe 6 to 7 hours of gametime a week, I’m working on saving for a deposit for my own home so me and my fiance can settle down and have kids, so I get the joyful task of working 12 hours a day for 6 days of the week so if someone asks for Key/dailies or lfr I would have to say no thanks because I’m already commited to doing something on my character.
The world especially england (Thanks to Brexit) has gone to hell and things are getting alot more expensive so having to work more to make life more conftable is just becoming the norm.

There’s many answer to this
First guilds has not been updated since MoP
The second point is before LFG people tended either to write by /1 general or asked their guild. Not many people at the time did a /join world.
The 3rd point is guild is realm bound only, when today we all play cross realm to get people faster and more friends.
The 4th point is addon of mass invite into guild destroying the real feeling of friendship. Some people today tend to just create a guild to get maximum people, and ask them to do dungeon and collect the gold of guild reward for themself. People today without guild are showed off their face a guild by a addon scanning in /who people who are connected and don’t have guild are spam invited, it’s way too rare to find a honest guild invitation where it’s the member who decided to join instead of the guild master who invited them. This addon scanning /who is guild killing in the game.
The 5th point is that guild is only used by mythic guild today for guild bank / calendar / play together for M+ . But if you are average for M+ → 15 / normal&heroic raid , PvPer not having a guild is not a issue at all. Before in cata and MoP people were rewarded by mount and gold and recipe and perk making the guild whatever it level (low or high) making the player still reward themself together (guild repair, guild perk etc) by playing RBG per week, doing dungeon and raid

I wish you luck and courage. World is going to sh*t for us all. We will miss you english ppl tho, I think you made a mistake by quitting but hey, it’s not like we will not cooperate anymore.

I won’t speak for others so I’ll try to express my feeling about guild.
In the past I’ve been in guilds purely cause of raiding. I wanted to be part of group of people. But with each xpac my will to raid was decreasing - raids became incredibly boring, stressful and shallow while classes become “IM-EFFECTIVE-ONLY-DURING-COOLDOWNS”. So I quit raiding and I only play M+. Since that requires only 5 people and I’m not interested in achievements - I don’t socialize as much as I used to.
I also feel like pandemic changed people a lot towards spending free time lonely, dunno.
Hey trust me as soon as our generation gets the numbers we are voting back in, I hated the fact our elderly speak for us here and swing the votes to what they deem acceptable, They’re learning the harsh reality of it now tho but politics aside, I can’t wait for Dragonflight

It’s really hard to find a guild like that, I have been in some over the years but mostly it’s just everyone is on for raid and it’s pretty quiet in between.
The guilds that did have it were run by people who really kept the social aspects alive, did lots of fun runs, put stuff up on the calendar, helped people achieve stuff etc.

My guild while still active to some degree mostly died during Shadowlands, I have every faith people will return with Dragonflight as I see more activity lately but we are an easy going guild but when we raid we make sure we progress because we synergise well.
I now see why there’s so many 60’s walking about guildless , guilds just don’t provide anything to those players apart from keys basically …
They no longer provide a social hub to do all content in game anymore

I am in my guild to raid. Pugging is just not an environment I enjoy.
I don’t even do keys with my guild, I go with friends. I thought I would actually get no keys done this week as my friend quit and we used to pug them together. Fortunately some friends have come to my aid.
When you queue with a 3k+ tank, they rarely say no xD

The same elderly that kept the country going through much harsher times?

Not the place for Politics to be quite honest with you hence why I ended it but if you insist does it give them a right to plunge us back into harsher time for nostalgia sake?
I’ll stop with Politics now, but lets just say I’m not a fan of england and its policies.

The game became too easy I guess? With systems like Dungeon Finder, Raid Finder and Group Tool such necessity for social interaction became irrelevant.
I understand.
I just put no faith in a generation that is more worried about what they identify as or what to take offence at whilst glued to phones and computer screens.
For what it’s worth I just think we have a very poorly run government and something like Brexit could have been handled far better.
But yeah, by no means am I trying to have a debate, just find it curious they always get nitpicked as the problem. Not the people in charge!

I don’t agree, before group finder I did very little content. The most socially active guilds I have been in, were all during all the modern conveniences.
It takes effort to arrange events etc with guilds.

I wasn’t speaking about events but general content.
Maybe that’s a “from realm to realm different” thing.
Agreed, modern conveniences have made consuming content alot better for alot of people and even introduced more friends, the issue these days is people feel they dont need to feel obliged by other players unless they decide they want to build a friendship with people which in Wow is very rare now, people will only talk with eachother if they join a guild and that’s where they meet.
Sounds like you’re in the wrong guild. We ran dailies together at the start of 9.2 (irrelevant now since everyone is exalted), people queued lfr together for tier and they hang out on discord talking all the time.
