Why Do Blizzard Lock Content?

i am just hoping we can start an awereness for new players so they can get a chance to do what we did in older expansions. it make no sense to me that they took away artifact skill in legion. it is not fun playing in legion anymore cuz of it, while you level up or just returning to it. why do they lock mounts, apperences and so forth, for new players and old. it just feels that if you are not apart of something at a time while you didn’t even play, then blizzard say F@ you for it (at least that is what it feels like). if i didn’t play at the end of the expansion then you will loose a mount everytime. and if you stopped and logged in again you need to get an achement to join the stupid raid to get the mount wich is impposible for many people. it’s and mmo and it feels like that this game is for just some certain people that have all the time in the world to only play wow. when it should be for many diffrent people.

I like time limited content. Makes it special to have. Not everyone feels the same.

Not a huge amount of content is limited in this way.

it is very special to just startng to play the game only to find out that you can’t get something you want that should be in the game. why shold only few people get something or experience something in an mmo? isn’t that hugly unfair for new players? i played in legion and i tried to get the mount in the raid before bff hit. but i was in the wrong guild and couldn’t find a new one in time. i have a job, i have other hobbys, why shold wow be something that takes all your time while it still locks content away from players?

Why should new players get everything, why should there be no benefits for long term players?

no. I wish more content was time limited tbh. would make it more worthy to acquire and give things value

I really really want a red core hound mount, every time I see someone riding about on one of those beautiful, two headed beasts I marvel at how wonderful they are. I came to WoD too late to get one though so I will forever look on with a pang of jealousy and just live with my red core hound hunter pet and my red core hound pup because that’s just how it is sometimes.

Might seem sucky but most people have that something they wish they could get but can’t.

Because yesterdays money has been raked in and accounted for, only tomorrows money counts and you are right there beside the new guy signing up today when it comes to that.

you are lucky enought to even play in the earlyer expansions. new players will never ever experience that expansion again. they might not even know that wow existed while something was out.

I actually agree.
And it sucks I won’t be able to get some things, but I wasn’t there or didn’t want to do it. Tough luck.

Having said that though… Some sweet recolors of things might be cool… :sunglasses::sunglasses::innocent:

but this is a game, why do blizzard make games that dosn’t give new players the same as old, rather punish them.

The whole basis of a game like WoW is to not take breaks; sadly many players do this & fall foul of time limited content.
Much of what WoW offers is by way of rewarding consistent play, as mentioned above, and while many feel penalised for taking breaks, there comes many a situation where, realistically, a game, any game, should never take any priority over any in life commitment or obligation.

If any game reaches the stage where it assumes priority over more realistically important aspects of life, then it is time to call a halt to said game.

because old people invest more time hence get more reward. that’s how life works.
if I’ve been doing something for years and you did it for a day, i will have more of that “something”

It’s hardly a punishment.

In my case I wasn’t here for the event so why should I get the reward?

Some things in game are limited some things are not. If you weren’t around when the limited thing was available why are you even bothered about it? Older expansions still have plenty of collectables available but some are special and were limited to the expansions life time, like the mage tower.

Sorry we don’t agree on that point of view. Like I said, I want something that I missed out on but I live with it.

Exclusivity is good.

The only type of content limitation I cannot support is the “Ordos solutions”, where you keep the content in-game and only remove the ability for new players to gain access.

I hate the Timeless Isles. That cow always taunts me knowing well there is absolutely no chance for me to retaliate.

i just think the way you guys think is wierd, like it’s an badge of honour getting something that is timelimited. if i have something others don’t and can’t get, i would feel sorry for them. lets just say if wow locked down everything and you were sent something special in mail. would you guys go " yeah i was apart of that game when it was out" and then show that thing you got in the mail or would you be angry for they locked down the game and you can’t play it anymore? it’s not the same but yet it is the same.

I think Ill quit forums now… I cant imagine saying anything smarter than this.

That doesn’t even make sense in regards to the topic.

They put in time limited rewards and people who are around and put in the effort to do the content at the time get the rewards. Those that weren’t around or didn’t put in the effort don’t get the rewards. The game offers a lot of other rewards some from the current expansion some from 10 years ago.

I got the teldrassil hippogryph because I took part in the pre patch event that awarded it, should I hand it back because it was time limited and some people skipped the event or came to the game later and missed pre patch? In fact to rub salt in I actually got it twice because I did the event on two characters.

Should the guy riding around stormwind on his core hound be ashamed that he did the event and got the reward and I missed it by a year?

If WoW shut down tomorrow I wouldn’t be angry that the game was no more, I would remember the fun times (ashran in my free lvl 90 gear ) and move on. If they posted me a thank you for being part of it all gift I would be grateful, not angry.

There will be plenty more limited rewards to collect in the future for everyone.

I equally find it weird to expect to be entitled to every single thing in the game, when you didn’t play when it was relevant. There are limited things in the game I don’t have. Some I even missed because I was new and didn’t understand how they worked.

I’m sorry you didn’t play the game when the items were available. That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of content for you to enjoy.
