my guild is barely surviving. and most either dont like pvp, or are not on all at the same time where we could set up rated pvp. and no other guild on my server would be much or any better. my server is basically dead. only 6 guilds did crucible, even less will do pvp, like i have explained here:
(shameless plug!!)
i didn’t have a go at OP cause he didn’t initially bite into anyone, and like has been said, because so much is NOT account wide, its hard to tell what someone REALLY has done or is capable of.
so yeah, i’ve tried in my guild. it didn’t work. i even went outside my comfort zone in BfA season 1, and found a group of people, even joined a community, and had fun in season 1, getting my mount, and almost getting 2k rating. BUT all those players have quit since season 1 ended. im VERY hesitant to go through all the pain of finding 20+ good players to fight with this season, especially when the season is probably over soon.
you are right though i think, pvp, like pve, does seem at the mercy of flavor of the month metas etc. my friend is a resto shaman, but because disc priests and mw monks are the more favored healers in pvp, its hard to get them into a game, even though most teams want at least 1 rogue. so yeah, you’re right there.
the game currently is not great for being social, unless you’re on a server where you have a lot of people, and already know the people. the rng of making a group cross realm can go very bad, and most games people leave after 1 loss.
and this is correct. how do you think i got my gear in tbc/wotlk? and one of the reasons pver’s didn’t want to take me in tbc (resi gear). you have always been able to buy pvp gear from a vendor until BfA, but you had to grind the currency (badges or marks or honor or conquest or whatever). BUT you are right. lots of free gear is thrown out in non rated pvp, but MOST of it is sh*t and is only good to be vendored/scrapped. just because you’re getting all this free gear, it doesn’t mean you’re GETTING free gear. you’re basically being given gold or profession mats.
this MUST be incorrect. i have no proof however, EXCEPT the fact that every season i was in pretty much full pvp gear in TBC and WotLK, BUT i never started doing ANY rated pvp until the end of cata. so how did i get my pvp gear in TBC and WotLK if i didn’t do rated pvp until end of Cata?
while some classes didn’t like pvp in TBC/WotLK (i hated going against dk’s at start of WotLK), and most people say that MoP was best time for pvp, i enjoyed pvp in TBC and WotLK, and got, i would guess, over 200K of my kills from that time period, as i never played half of cata, all of MoP and 1/3 of Legion.
whatever our disagreements, i think we may agree that there should be pvp vendors like there was in the old days, and that pvp needs better balance/love like the old days.
what ever the OP’s pvp history on this toon, do you really think his POINT, “that its unfair on pvpers, that we have to get our gear from pve to be partly competitive” is not correct?
