Why do journalists pick on the WoW store but not FF14's or ESO?

Numbers don’t really matter except for investors. Both games are really healthy.

there’s still a number in Kugane and Foundation too (at least on my server)

The Jeweled Crozier in Foundation is always packed with crafters and the Kogane Dori markets have a fair few players milling around too.

Only ESO closer to WoW playerbase in numbers. Actually most of WoW players are from Chinese region.

Oi! I take offense to that.

Hugs his 7 million gold

Gold farming is a playstyle!

But you have already paid into the system…

Paid into the system? If you’re refering to that I have payed money for it… no I haven’t paid any of my real money for it what so ever.

Why people like you have the same question when they are disagreed?

So you’ve never once paid for a sub?

Ever? Lol you already know the answer to that. Of course I have, before the tokens existed and a short while after that.
And that has to do with what exactly?

Do journalists really pick on WoW or is it just streamers and such?

Someone actually explained in the comments.
Reason WoW get’s picked on , it’s just more popular. Most Mmo’s are horrendous on their microtransactions. WoW is incredible tame since it had a store front.

But because nobody has heard of a certain Korean mmo. Nobody is going to bother clicking on the article. No views , no advertising money.

So any game Blizz related is an easier target audience. Even if they have never played WoW or any Blizz games they are far likelier to have heard of their games. More $$$ in their pockets talking about that.

Because FF devs care about the game. If WoW devs did the same people would not care if there were hundreds of articles on sale in game shop.

I don’t like Ion Hazzikostas , but that’s my personal opinion on him and his direction of the game.

But to say Ion " Doesn’t care" that’s absolutely untrue.

He cares in his own way, but he has to play with too many know-it-all jokers. WoW’s problem is that there are too many people making decisions currently. Hopefully it changes during Shadowlands and 10.x.

For me until Blizz reinstate class sets, tier sets, finish heritage armour and weapons. Release the recolours of heritage armour. Heritage armour for non heritage races i.e. wild hammer dwarfs. Give all heritAge armour robe and non robe options. Then and maybe then I would accept sets on the store.

I’d also like classes to have dead talents reworked and fun at base level.

So I’d say they have a lot of work to do before they stick stuff behind a paywall.

The quality of mounts and what looks like better quality sets that are on the store should be equaled in the game.

I mean if they can design sets to accommodate elves ears on a paid set I’d expect all future in game sets to do the same and I think that’s where the issue lies. When they can create equal quality sets and mounts people would complain less.

3 simple reasons:

  1. wow is by far the most successful mmorpg that bring the most attention.
  2. wow is made by AMERICAN company.
  3. every game has players with different mentality. wow players usually prefer in-game content, especially when it comes to transmog (cosmetics).

in my opinion, mounts are whatever, there are billions that can be obtained by in-game content (they also dont interest me, at all).
transmog is crossing the line. it affects the way you look. when suddenly the world becomes just a cartoonish Argent Dawn goldshire-like, is when things go bad.

wow is not built to be a cash shop game.

promotional COSMETICS is one thing, but when you have the option to buy it with irl money instead of earning it, thats where you cross the line.

i played alot of ESO and you get free cosmetics/mounts/pets via daily login

would like to see similliar system in WoW

You can. If you have enough gold you can buy them with gold. Buy wow token from AH and revert it to balance.

oh? then I guess you just can’t read since that is what we’re talking about

Uhm nooo… I answered your

That was not about ever having payed RM for wow. Rather how you thought it unrealistic to get enough gold to pay that way.
