The difference between why WoW store is so hated and why SE’s one is not is simply that XIV launched with optional purchases where as Blizzard are slowly sneaking them in over the course of time at rediculous prices and insulting manners.
For a mount that can carry 4 players on XIV will set you back £23.99 and a simple one seater for WoW will set you back £19 and dont get me started on the prices Blizzard expect you to pay for toys/pets.
SE pet prices range from £2.02 to 4.99 at the most expensive where as Blizzard charge a flat £9.99 for any of their pets.
If we also mention Race change/gender change services it costs £5.75 to change your character in any manner you want aswell as the game giving you 2 free character change potions where as Blizzard want £13.90 whilst on sale and £19 off sale.
Also WoW selling gold is just a joke imo.
Character class boosting -WoW = £40/ XIV=£18.50
Its pretty clear and obvious to anyone who plays in both communities that Blizzard are just extremely money grubbing and have been for years and thats why players move to XIV because yes there is MTX but they dont treat you like a fool with their price models.
I have read it. Could you care to explain how anyone is supposed to always have payed with gold when the tokens haven’t existed since the beginning of the game?
Now I’m not sure if you’re trolling me or just trying to be daft.
Because Activision owns Blizz, and has:
a) released Mtx after a popular game was reviewed and praised for having no Mtx.
b) Added lootboxes to the old COD game everyone loves.
c) Added gold-buying to the game.
d) Possibly more egregious stuff I can’t remember or never knew.
I think it’s a) that triggers the journos the most. Nobody likes being made to looks silly.
Hopefully they will hire some game journos who can actually play games properly, and hopefully Mtx will be reined in legally on this continent at least.
Maybe they suck so badly that politics and Mtx are a front to distract the reader from how thin and often plain wrong their analysis of gameplay actually is.
